I just HAD to log in to say I am so so pleased for you - you certainly have changed your life around! Be proud....be very proud of yourself.
Aw, thank you, I would never relax about smoking, but I do think we're well on the way!
I remember we 'quit together' and the support from you and everyone else on here (and the other 2 threads, as I read every post) was what made such a difference to my quit.
You're two weeks ahead of me, I remember looking at your milestones and thinking 'I'm almost at that one!' :j:rotfl:
    THANK YOU EVERYONE

I know this thread help me hugely too, and I hope all the new names will find the same unstinting support and encouragement:T.

    Evening all,

Sorry I haven't been around much this week, my DS2 has been very poorly and was admitted to hospital. He's out now and recovering well, but it has not been fun. Anyway I'm really pleased with myself tho that I got through this and have not reached for the ciggies. In fact I even forgot to put my patch on for a couple of days and it didn't seem to bother me!

Stats are looking good now. Smober time 3wks 18 hrs, Amount Saved £94.35, Cigs not smoked 326 and life saved 1day 3hrs.

Am so proud of myself, keep going everyone, we can do it,
    Flis x

Hello everyone! It's good to be back with you quitters and 'quitters in progress' once again. Many thanks for the beautiful thoughts and get will wishes, I appreciate them so very much and am feeling a lot better now. I still have a little way to go so please forgive me if I'm not here now and again....I will be ASAP!

It's so good to see you both back, oldreekie and choille!!!!! Just 2 of the many old timers we have had over the years. It really is wonderful to have 2 very experienced helpers advising others! This is absolutely brilliant girls and thank you very many times over! Congratulations on TWO WHOLE YEARS, oldreekie and you choille....getting so close to it is tremendous and so very exciting!!!!! :T:T:T:T I know so well how proud of yourselves you both are!!

Many congratulations to you too, splishsplash and what some amazing stats!!!! :T:T It sounds as though you're really working and walking your way back to an extremely healthy lifestyle, one to be so proud of, very, very well done!!!

Lovely to see your dear caracara having got past SIX months smoke-free!!! Congratulations!!!! :T:T

I've had a quick scan through the posts and it's so good to see Flis continuing proudly on while you paint your way back to great health, for the sake of your little lads..as well as yourself!!!! You showed a stubborn "I WILL quit" right from the beginning and I've no doubt you'll succeed!!! :j

Hi there Chrissie!! :T It's so good to hear from you on all fronts! You're doing brilliantly and so is the other one!! Amazing what can be achieved with willpower and lots of love. I love the image of your poor OH as you erect signs and clean and paint around him, you do have a shed outside I presume??? ;) Keep up the amazing work Chrissie and praise yourself often!

It's ok Amy, I know you're not new to us, I also know how marvellosly you've done to get to where you were the other day as you appear to have got through the time that concerned you so terribly much, but as with Flis, you stuck hard to the fact that you want this so much ~ which is really all it takes to quit!! Keep hard at it, Amy!

You too, Ali and very, very well done indeed!!!:T It is so good to hear your wonderful house news too...I just could not be more happy for you and your little lass!! :A Don't forget to keep it smoke-free from your BF though!

Hi Spicy and aren't you still doing so well too!!! I'm hoping by now that you'll have earned at least some hearty recognition from your loved ones of you having stopped - if not, it can wait until you're even further away from old Nic!!!

The heartburn may be just a temporary thing while your body adjusts (see below also), so why not use some Gaviscon to help through then try without after about a month and see how it goes. It's the same with the pooey stuff - another way of your body getting shot of some of the rubbish within. Also, before you stopped smoking your metabolism worked at a different rate to what it's doing now, let it settle down and all will come right. Re the nausea, (another natural annoyance for a little while) take a tin of ginger biscuits to bed so that - before you get up in the morning - you can have at least 1 biccy; the ginger in it has great anti-nausea properties! If you find that helpful then consider getting some ginger from a healthfood supplier, just enough to tide you over in the early days.

The great thing I'd suggest for the shakes is Dr Bach's Rescue Remedy, it's totally natural and really does relax us whenever we're a bit stressed or shaky, as in your case. Water by itself isn't vital for you now as it is may not help your heartburn! There's no reason you can't have tea with it, coffee too if it's not something that won't affect you craving wise. Get as much gentle exercise as is possible, but as you have the arthritis (me too!) then do as much walking as you can, it'll also help with the bloating. Re the Wii do all the dance routines except anything which means bending. Yes - exercise for arthritic joints is a good thing, but in moderation! Try swimming as that's not weight-bearing and will do your knees good. Also, see your GP, he/she will be able to help and advise you, likewise with the PGP, you do need guidance.

So good to see you DD!!! By golly, how you've built up so much quitting time...and so quickly..or so it seems to me! Many congratulations to you on over 18 months without cigs messing with your life!!! :T:T

Hi Denis and Davey!!! Very well done lads on your terrific stats and achievements - so very well earned! Still saving well for that holiday, Davey?

Where are you, NickJ and crazymum..who is anything but?? I don't doubt at all that you're still fag-free, but it would be lovely to hear from you both as and when.

Keep strong and keep focused booboo!!! You're doing so very well, especially with your OH still smoking. Don't say anything to her and I'm sure she'll slowly be thinking hard about all the benefits of a life without nicotine, but with good health and lots of cash instead!!!! You'll be her guiding light some day I'm sure.

Needstochange, don't you class yourself as one of those in the scabby bus shelter as that title is getting further and further away from you with each new day, and those with you now will like as not sadly still be there long after you've started your whole new life - which is something so immense to look forward to!!!

Please forgive me if I've inadvertently left anyone out, I promise I would never do so intentionally!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone and breathe in that wonderful fresh air. Keep free and focus hard - you'll get there!

    Sue xxx

[Edit] Hi Flis and I'm so sorry to hear about your little treasure. I'm delighted to hear he's much better and home now though and wish you all well, but especially him. An awful time for you, but well done YOU for completely ignoring them, what a terrific Mum to keep free from old Nic!

  • Welcome back, Sue.

It is so good to see you back here. Please take care of yourself.

Well, it is the first time I have ever been called an "old timer" but probably won't be the last.:D

Rescue remedy was part of my toolkit but there are other products. Avena sativa was recommended by my pharmasist and it is used by many quitters - I can't take it due to a what/oat gluten intolerance. I used Quiet Life, which contains valarian. Recently found Aveda Blue Oil - calming and helps concentration.

crazymum, I admire your strength and willpower. You deserve masses of :T and :j

I cried for weeks, had highs and lows and still do to some extent. I do hope that you are rewarding yourself and searching for something to fill the "gap", that feeling of emptiness (?). The Avena sativa is supposed to be very good, and not addictive!

Stay strong and talk - we will listen.:)
