Had a nightmare 24 hours and caved in and had a couple. My DD was the victim of a firework gang one hitting off her face, one exploding on her ankle. We don't know if the explosion or the chase has managed to give her a spiral fracture of the fibula. Lucky girl that she managed to get her arm up to protect her face. 8 weeks in a cast she's facing because of these stupid *$%$*$%^.
Anyhoo, again I've slipped up, still not gonna let it win tho. Lack of sleep beats me every time
ARGH!,
Och Mazza...my prayers are with you...
Well I had a crisis (cos of the lack of sleep) on Wednesday so ended up in the pward....:(
But didn't smoke....had no need to...fortunately when I had the crisis I had my purse and like all my e-cig stuff on me so I was okay (there's quite a bit of kit) but am sure they took my syringe (For refilling my tank) off me but not my 70ml of 34mg nic liquid...Now what's more dangerous to you? an empty syringe (5ml - no needle...found the needle but even that is as blunt as anythign) or 70ml of nic liquid? Hmmm...exactly...numpties...
I already have an arrangement with my local pward that if I get taken in the big bottles go in the clinic
Was so funny though next am...horrid night staff (kind of okay eventually) said 'whatever that is put it out cos it's no smoking in here' and I'm like 'it's an e-cig - look there's the battery' and then he just burst out laughing. Had never seen one before...
So yeah - that's how I spent my 8 week anniversary - sick.....
Roll on Monday - it's my two month anniversary on Monday....:T

A very warm welcome to the thread smileytiger! I hope all goes well on Monday and that they give you all the help they can, from there on you can be absolutely sure we will.! Recognising that it's mostly all down to habit is the most important thing - and all habits CAN be broken! For extra help right around the clock come on here and read through the posts of others on this thread and the former 2, they really do encourage and inspire.
Luck is something you can achieve and provide yourself, but for support, advice and encouragement you're definitely in the right place and I know we ALL give you our very best wishes to entice you to fulfil your dream of a smoke-free life! Always remember that you CAN do it and there is a wonderful life ahead without fags in it!! Bear in mind too that some folk find it so very much easier than they'd ever expected. Always live each day with te following Quitter's Pledge.........
Tell yourself every morning "I'm not going to smoke at all today, but if I wish to, I may smoke tomorrow." Repeat that pledge every morning, it tricks your mind and makes things more bearable to do it in bitesizes.
Every best wish, Sue x
Hi caracara, I'm hoping you've tried out the Ice Pops/Poles and that they're successful. Well done on the amount of the journey you've undertaken so far, be proud of yourself! Yes, thank you, the physio is going well, thanks cara. BTW are you named after the song? Just wondered as I love it by New World from years ago.
Hi there Erme and congratulations on being 8 weeks free of fags!!! :T Little wonder your nursing practitioner was so pleased. I noticed you just had to try one though, but.....! No wonder the P or any other ward wouldn't let you use that blow torch of yours, I'd be fearful if you brought it near me!
Oh Maz, so very sorry to read about your DD, I do hope she's a bit better now and getting over the shock of it. Why on earth do such evil little blighters seem to get their kicks in such wicked ways!!! I know you had the 2, but was so thrilled to read you weren't going to let yourself get drawn back into them!
Hello there rubytwilight, though it's good to see you I'm obviously sad to hear about your slip ups. Never mind, you've started off well and 10 days behind you is a great start. All the best with the Champix, ruby most folk find it amazing, the AC books/CD also. You'll get there if you never give up trying!
Sue xx
Fantastic news about you being 7 months free, hoogervaaner!!! :T:T:T Many cngratulations!!! It really is wonderful and a long time and thank you so very much indeed for coming back on the board to give other incentive!
Hi there JD and well done to you on 4 weeks 2 days, as always you're doing just great!!! So pleased you had such a good time with your friends.
Don't ever give up or give in to bad thoughts folks, keep plodding along one day at a time and you WILL get to being fag-free for life. Fags NEVER solve anything and life can be lived without them. So weigh the darn things up against your life and see which you regard as the more precious. Then add your name to the MSE quitters hall of fame!

Hi everyone,
And a big well done to all of you giving up the fags...!
I gave up over a year ago and enjoy being a non-smoker (sounds better than ex-smoker) and recently I completed NHS Vitality training to run smoking cessation groups. I work within a drug and alcohol support centre so the new smoking cessation will be another great service we can offer. We carry out CO tests, give sound advice and 1-to-1 support and we also give clients Nicotine Replacement vouchers to use at the chemist.
With medication like Zyban and Champix we give the client a letter to present to their GP and they will prescribe them accordingly.
I would recommend to anyone wanting to quit smoking that having that little bit of support can make all the difference.
Thanks and good luck to all of you.

I couldn't agree more, Andy, that's why we've kept this thread going for so long and had major successes with folk having ceased altogether!
Congratulations to you in having quit smoking and helping make a difference to the lives of others. :T I've been quit now for 12 years (13 years on Christmas Day) and have never been happier.
Lets hope we can continue helping as many people as possible to stop putting these evil cigarettes into their bodies.
My dream would be to stop school children from ever taking that very first puff, I wish someone had talked to me about the perils of doing so all those years ago!
All very best wishes Andy!
