28 days smoke free and still feeling great! I managed to get a really good deal yesterday, I exchanged my Mac computer for a bran new Mac 21inch I only had to add £50 a month for 8 months and that's with 3 years applecare so that was my big reward for doing a month well almost Lol. I was spending £170 a month on cigarettes so that still leaves me £120 a month to spoil myself over the next 8 months then its back to £170 a month and I get to keep my legs.Low Carb High Fat is the way forward I lost 80 lbs

Hello
I just wanted to post, that having realised that I simply HAVE to stop smoking, I have an appointment tomorrow at 10.30am with the stop smoking people.
I smoke 20 a day currently, and have given up loads of times - it's staying stopped that seems to be beyond me! I can't even say that I'm a wuss and cave in at the slightest thing - the times I've started again have been a) after a sudden bereavement of someone close b) divorce.
So, I'm hoping that all my nearest and dearest stay well. As a single person, the divorce is unlikely to happen again....
slsGave up smoking on 16/11/11 :j
If you don't know where you're going, how do you know when you've arrived?0 -
a warm welcome sis1365
congratualtions on deciding to stop , and making that appointment :j:j
i can empathise , with reasons why re started smoking
i split with my OH last year and stupidly started smoking again ( have been soooo annoyed with myself about restarting ) so likewise , that reaon aint gonna crop up for me ether
, and am determined not to put myself through the starting from scratch quitting thing again , i am stayin stopped dont want to end up a serial quitter
but i guess the most important thing is to never give up giving up ...
i know i cant be one of those " i'll just have one " smokers , just one leads to a slippery path
keep posting to let us know how you are fairing ,
we all here wish you well
stay motivated x x x JD xx0 -
Hello again everyone!!! :hello:
Thank you all sooooo very much indeed for all your hugs and lovely thoughts and wishes. The operation went well, thank you and I've been having intensive physiotherapy since I got back on the ward to try to get the shoulder moving again, though it doesn't look as though I'll regain full use, but anything's better than the way it was, believe me! It's still very painful, but has to be worked through or it'll start to seize again! It'll take at least 4-6 weeks, but worth waiting for. For now I'm using my "speech to text" device as my hand's still not right from the fall, but there are far worse things in life for certain.
Thanks again for all your kind thoughts folks, they were a joy to read and I'm so grateful to you ALL.
Well, I've just had a quick read through and by and large you're all doing splendidly! Many congratulations indeed! :T:T:T:T:T Very well done on staying strong folks, there's so much to be gained in the non-smoking world as you're all finding out only too well.
A very warm welcome to the thread and to quitting, Gumpf and sls365. Bad luck about last time for you both, but at least you Gumpf, have realised where you went wrong and you got back to it and are prepared to try again. All the very best in saying goodbye to it for good soon. Please use the thread to let us know how you get on and so we can help support you IF you should have a dodgy time. Try to remember sls365, that no matter what we face in life a ciggie will never make things better it only serves to reinforce the feeling that "I just can't get through this without them" then the whole snowball effect takes over and the stress gets worse. IF anything similar should ever happen again, come on here and tell us and let us support you through it and help you - and we will do our utmost!! Well done on getting help from the quitting smoking folk, us too of course!
Hi o2b, a very huge {{{HUG}}} on the grief you're suffering due to the anniversary of the loss of your darling granddaughter. I can't imagine what the loss of a child is like, but I'm sure it must be hell. I'd imagine the best you can do is to give your other little ones the love and hugs you would normally have given her on 'her' day, and, know her spirit is still surrounding you, and feeling all the love you're giving her.
I think given your grief you're doing so very well. Remember too that a good cry does us all a power of good and we should always take note of what the body knows we should be doing to help it through. Stopping smoking too makes many of us girls tearful, let it go o2b.All the very best with becoming smoke-free for good

Thanks a lot shadydaz, I really appreciate your reply and will do all I can to get my lungs expanded more for sure!
Oh Erme, I do like your err Roman Candle? Or is it something of a more personal nature maybe??!
Maz, I was so sorry to hear you've hurt your shoulder further, lets hope time will help us both!
Very well done again everyone, you're well on your way now and a better life awaits you as a result.

First of all a great big warm welcome back to Sue!!!:j:j:j:j Glad to hear you're on the mend, the physio will be hard but keep at it and hopefully you will have some use. What speech to text program is it you use? Just had a friend pass out and fall and break both wrists  Poor old !!!!!!, might be a thought for him tho
1 month 2 weeks 1 day Patches/oral combination
Well I'm still here, and still struggling on. Decided to use some of the cash saved to decorate my DS room. Big mistake. Have had 2 falls while doing it and it's taken about a week. And still have the window wall to do. Hate all that cutting out, so have left it til last! All the joints in my upper body have been in agony, physio thinks I have arthritis in more places than not. Knee's been giving way more times than not. It's making me rather frustrated tbh. I'm only 40 and feel I should still be able to do things that I can't. The pain I can live with, the not being able to do things is totally driving me bonkers! Anyhoo, enough whinging.
Got my sis to pick up my NRT from chemist and the silly !!!!!!s gave her the full strength patches. Should have gone down one, but can do that this week instead. Now I must remember to stick them on :rotfl:
Welcome to our newbies. It will be hard, but together we can do it4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -
Och good to have you back Sue :j
No it's NOT for more personal reasons? Were you confusing it with stuff for xmas LOL
Having a bad food day after the stress of the nic overdose last week. I lost like 2lbs in one day
I haven't lost any more I have to say...
So want postie to come with a parcel from china...trying to think of what I can eat that's filling and mega low calorie today LOL....
Thinking a wee egg or a banana for lunch..(maybe the egg and some cuppa soup) and then like carrot and cabbage soup for dinner....should be low enough calories
And a tonne of water :A
Can't go to the eating disorders support group this next month as out of town that night but can go the month after if it's on so might give them a ring and see if I can go. Think I should maybe having lost 10lbs in a month

Hi everyone,
Today is day 1 of giving up the cigs (again!) for me. I bought some Niquitin minis to help me through the first few days. Anyone have any experience of these?0 -
