I'm in withdrawal hell. I'm sitting here at working trying to talk myself out of buying some cigarettes. Luckily no-one in here smokes so I can't borrow one. I know I need to ride it out for 3 days then I'll feel better but honestly, this is bad bad bad. I'm totally unable to concentrate, hence I'm on here!
3 days and I'll feel loads better. It's not long to go. I've done about 1/2 a day already so just 2 1/2 left.
Hope everyone's having a good day.If you know you have enough, you're rich.0 -
Hi Anifan,
Nope - NONE of us are having a GOOD day!!
Depends what you are up to, how you feel.
Day 3 here and beleive me, its no bed of roses BUT every hour would be an hour of giving up, wasted - so don't break!!
This is your first day of taking control and once acheived WILL inspire you to improve other elements in your life - You'll see.
Ex - Smokers are better off than non smokers in that respect

Whilst I'm a great believer in the smoking cessation groups, does anyone find all that talking about smoking makes u want one? Falling back on my other addiction atm, crisps, then I will moan that my waistline is getting bigger .
Ani*fan - Day is almost over! Don't stop stopping now4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -
They were talking about the itch at cessation class today, and some of them are taking a low dose antihistamine to counteract the itch. They recommended to me to put it on my shoulder under my bra, or under my knickers. But if u got an itch on yer leg u can scratch it, didn't fancy it under my knickers just in case i got an itch:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Think as long as you change the position every time you will be fine4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0

Having particularly bad craving at the moment. So have made a cup of tea (am off the booze too!) and come here to remind myself why I'm not smoking.
I am sleeping better now, although that might be because I'm not drinking alcohol but am still waking up at 5.30am every morning. I am actually enjoying the hour peace before DH wakes up! It's rare that I get any quiet time!
I've been swimming a couple of times this week and this has also helped keep my mind off the fags. I have felt really energised and healthy afterwards. Am planning to keep up with the swimming and if time allows would like to go 3 times a week. Might help to keep the weight off a bit.
So as of midnight tonight I have been smoke free for 1 week!! :T0 -

Smoked 1 and now feel terrible. Going to give the rest away.
Brilliant strategy! See, you ARE still in the right frame of mind!!
I have had such a stressful moody day and I am not sure why I thought giving in would help, but it hasn't.
Again, brilliant that you've realised this. Sometimes we can be hankering after things soooo much and once we have them we do realise that the thought of them was much nicer than the reality!
I know smell vile and my mouth tastes like I have eaten an ash tray.
I am going to pretend the slip up never happened and continue as day 3.
That's the spirit! As I said above, now you will think: 'I don't want 1, because I KNOW I won't really enjoy it, it won't help with stress ets and I will smell vile and have a disgusting taste in my mouth' rather than: 'Oh, if only I could have a fag..........I would feel soooo much better........'
As if I start back at day 1 I will just end up smoking the whole packet.
It isn't helping that I cannot get these silly patches to stay onthey just keep falling off!!!
I think I need some motivation to carry on right now, having a packet in the house isn't helping. I feel so so stupid
FF, DON'T feel stupid! Smoking IS a habit and as such very difficult to just stop. You have done so well so far in making the decision to stop, stopping and realising that you want to continue stopping after your little blip. That is all it is. As I explained above, it may actually have helped you.
Try to do something to take your mind off of it. Knitting/crochet (I started crocheting A5 / A4 size blankets for babies born sleeping) have a nice bath/shower/pamper session.......write a friend a letter (with all the text/e-mail etc there's still nothing like a letter!)........go to bed early and read a book.........anything you can think of.
I have not been on here in ages, but just had a read and HAD to log in to reply.
PM me anytime...........Oh.....and :T for posting on here to ask for help........and your honesty.

That's it Lucy!!! You're doing exactly what's needed of us all when we first stop......putting yourself into something you're enjoying AND something that's dong you a LOT of good. :T:T:T Well, you're nearly there so I'm really hoping you'll very soon be ONE WEEK FREE! Will wait til tomorrow to say any more.
Hiya Maz, You're doing marvellously and very well done on staying the course so well. Re the arthritis, you need to exercise gently or it'll get worse quicker! So swimming is great for all your joints, but do keep walking as well as that too will help your knees and hips and help shift the weght faster!
Firey, please see my 2nd PM for you abut the slip up. Stopping smoking isn't easy, but it DOES get better soon, ride the storm and please ask your OH to smoke outside! DD suggests you write a letter to a friend, also you could write nicotine a letter and let it know exactly what you think of it!!!! Seriously, that could be a great help.
Hi Erme, don't let yourself start to become negative ow, please? You've been doing so well, so don't look ahead to next week to things that may never happen or suppose things - be strong and very positive! :j
Well done Rizla, you're doing so well, your Grandkiddies will be so proud of you!
Hiya DD!!! Good to see you and note how GREAT you've done!!! :T:T:T
Must hit the sack now. Keep strong everyone and fight the demon that may lurk inside at times...you can soon extinguish the little b....r!!!!!

I know you made it so well done. 1 week is a milestone!
Monday 10 am sees the same landmark for me.
Never realised that after 40 years, it really IS like losing a friend. Fags were there through so much of my life including and along with drugs for my depression (15yrs ago), moments of loneliness (Marriage split - Kids gone) and through the many stressful times that followed.
R.I.P. Roll-ups!
Thanks for the encouragement Sue.
