Oh I soooo know what you mean! I remember those feelings well.
    However............as Sue posted:

Smoky Thinking The urge to smoke is just too strong. I can’t stand it.

Clear Thinking Even the strongest cravings last less than 3 minutes. The urge will go away whether I smoke or not, and smoking now will just make it even harder for me to quit later. I can find something else to do—anything—until the craving goes away.

Also it will NOT make littl'un go to sleep............it won't move his Lordship's 'arris out of that bath any quicker ...........and you will feel sooooooooooooooooooooooo :( with yourself.

This may sound absolutely crazy, but when I had '1 of those' moments, I would smoke a cigarette, hold my fingers to my mouth..........take a deeeeep drag.........hoooooold, and blow out. Just without a cigarette.
I realised it was that deeeeeep breath I was missing.

Maybe a bit controversial, as you are trying to break the habit - I only did it when I had a bad craving, which in all honesty was not often and only for the 1st couple of weeks.

Honestly, it will NOT last. Also it helped me to alter my mind from 'Ooh.........I can't have 1 - I'm missing out' to 'I do NOT want or need 1' if that makes sense. Putting myself in control instead of being controlled.

You can still enjoy the telly without a smelly cig!

:rotfl:You just gave me the biggest lift! Thank you! And I have not given in. The craving is passing and I can deal with it. Littl'un is now asleep finally, 'his lordship' has finally got out the bath, we've had dinner and am finally able to sit down to watch the telly. And I don't need the evil weed!

That's truly made my day! Well done!

Honestly, try to think of it as I said = YOU being in control over it.........get  and think: 'I'm boogered if I'm going to let you make me start smoking again!'

And of course: 'I will not smoke TODAY............if I want 1 tomorrow I will have 1' but of course you have to say that every day, so that tomorrow NEVER comes.

    Have a nice evening!

Ps I was exactly as some of you 'newbies' are now, just over a year ago.

It TRULY is the best thing I did. For me it has been relatively easy.

What helped me the most was coming on here and reading all the posts - I went back to the very first 1 that Jo started and read from there.

It gave me so much.......determination, encouragement and coping strategies.

I shall be forever grateful to the many people who have helped me with every 1 of their posts.

1 of my coping strategies courtesy of Paul McKenna was to imagine having a drag of a ciggie and imagine that feeling of inhaling bonfire smoke that makes you choke.

Just watching someone on TV smoking and got that choking feeling!!!

 Tippytoes............I remember you being my saviour!

Well done on staying smokefree :T
