Good Luck Magda, I will be not far behind you. Thank you so much for all the advice Determined New MS
I think those tips are going to be very helpful.
I have changed my quit date to Monday 4th April there are several reasons for this, but it just feels that it would be better for me. My reasons for quitting are:
1,my daughter (my gorgeous ten yr old)
2,my health ( I keep coughing and am beginning to sound more like a sea lion every day!)
3,I don't want to stink anymore and I want to be able to smell things
4,The money currently £5.20 a day ( I worked out today that when my cars lease is up in2 and half years if I stop smoking this week I will have saved the £4000 required to buy the car outright:eek: that was a massive wake up call)
5, setting a good example to my patients when I qualify
I think these are my main reasons so from now until Monday I am going to try to smoke every one and challenge myself to see how long I can go between cigs.
Thanks for listening sorry I have gone on a bit
Mandamoo (soon to be non smoker:D)Slowly getting out of debt and still studying :j0 -
Morning all xx
Well today I have finally decided to join after months of reading all the posts ...So, I had my last cigarette at 06.40 this am,and am currently wearing a 25mg patch (not sure if i like wearing one or not or to just go cold turkey as they say )...
My reasons are money, at £6.03 a packet it's a lot of dosh for a single mum of 2 girls, my girls, and me x
any way, looking forward to saving loads of money, have an app on my phone which give me all sorts of stats...
Thanks, Magda x

Mandamoo you haven't gone on at all! Sounds like a good plan - although try not to put off again! I originally was going to give up on 1st but then couldn't face it so waited until 11am on the 2nd! You totally can do this & its nowhere as frighten once you stop as you think it is right now xDF as at 30/12/16

What rotten luck Sue-uu - please do get better very, very soon. This thread is not the same without you. So, here is one of those dodgy hugs for you. :grouphug:
Welcome to all the new "faces" - do keep posting and asking questions. It is the best smoking cessation therapy around and it is free:j Come to think of it, NHS should pay Sue-UU to train their councellors.I am a non-smoker :j last cigarette 10th February 20100 -
It would be really helpful if all the new non-smokers could put their quit time and method of quitting in the title - it helps others give you the appropriate advice/support.
If you haven't done so already, download the SilkQuit meter and that will help you keep track of your progress. It is a fantastic motivator.:j:j:j:jI am a non-smoker :j last cigarette 10th February 20100 -

I had my last cigarette this evening. I gave up once before for just 3 months but unfortunately started again in September. I saw a horrifying figure today, the amount I have approximately spent on cigarettes in my life: just under £10,000 - and that's not including lighters, ashtrays, replacing burnt cushions/clothes, money lost on a returned rental property deposit, etc etc.
I'm going cold turkey again, it worked once and hopefully it'll work again, but I did buy some gum in case I really gasp for it.
I have a little app on my phone that informs me how much money I've saved, so far it's 46p!0 -
