Sparky Thank you so much for this update ( & my PM)

Sue has certainly been missed a great deal, not only for her tremendous support to each and every quitter, but because she is such a lovely lady and she makes us all laugh with her wonderful posts too. :A

I kept trying to PM her, but the messages wouldn't send. Then I thought about posting on the sealed pot thread.............glad I did.

Lots of luv'n'hugs if you (or hubby) are reading!!!

I have been a non smoker for 31 days now but this evening has been rather bizarre. After an evening of fitness training I find myself craving for those nasty cigs more than I have done since I stopped. I don't want to smoke and I absolutely won't but the cravings are horrible to deal with. So, to any quitter reading this, please don't give in, it would be so easy to but we just got to keep fighting, remember nice pink lungs - we smell fresh - we can breath better - we are richer xx

    Please can I join :o

I am a new DFW and realise the amount of money I spend on cigarettes is ridiculous! I am also training to be a nurse and do not when I qualify want to be a hypocrite, advising people to quit then nipping out for a quick puff myself:D

I am setting myself a quit date of 1st April (no joke honest) but would gladly welcome anyones help and advice. I no longer want to be standing outside in the pouring rain making myself stink and clogging up my lungs

    Thanks in advance

Hi Mandamoo  & welcome :dance:just saw you on Lucy's thread and popped over to get the link and here you are already! :T

Really really happy you are up for the wonders that are being smoke free :D - as Sue's not about at the mo I'll forward you her very helpful email with lots of fab tips to help you get over the first days, weeks & months. I'm sure Sue won't mind me saying water, satsumas, icepoles, exercise (walking), and cleaning are what kept most of us going in the early days!

declare your reasons for giving up on here - are there any others other than the ones you've said already? For me it was the health implecations - physical & psychological. There's a fantastic tool on page 1 which you can download which charts how long you've given up, how many cigs not smoked & how much cash you have saved.

Soething someone said to me before I quit was between the day I posted and when I went for it to try to not smoke every other cig and I found that when I did that it was really encouraging. Instead of having one every hour I had one every 2 or three hours :j and I didn't have any ill effects :j:j

I also found that reading through previous posts in this & the previous threads were really helpful for doubling my resolve & keeping my mind occupied in the early days when I needed it.

Good luck you really can do this, just take the first couple of days as they come, each time you get a craving push through it. One trick Sue said was say to yourself each day "I'm not going to smoke today, I may if I wish smoke tomorrow, but not today" and it does help x

    Morning all xx

Well today I have finally decided to join after months of reading all the posts ...So, I had my last cigarette at 06.40 this am,and am currently wearing a 25mg patch (not sure if i like wearing one or not or to just go cold turkey as they say )...

My reasons are money, at £6.03 a packet it's a lot of dosh for a single mum of 2 girls, my girls, and me x

any way, looking forward to saving loads of money, have an app on my phone which give me all sorts of stats...

    Thanks, Magda x
