    day 1 on the patches

It seventeen hours now since my last smoke,it hasnt been to bad throughout the day until my evening meal was over The craving was strong and i panicked a bit..but cleaned my teeth and took my makeup off and it seemed to wear off...its gone now. lol i am in bed now tho.

    Hi there

I just want to let you know that I know how you feel as all the others on here that have quit.

I panicked big time when I got the cravings and I was sure that no one had experienced what was happening to me... I felt like a druggie coming off heroin .... in fact I have a new found respect for any junkie out there coming off any substance like that... it was terrible for me! But I did it... although I did slip up, however I came here and got myself sorted and since my little wobble I have been so good to myself! No more smoking!!!

I did post a few horrific pics on here... sorry to those that got scared but it's my therapy and I felt I wanted to share... it's what keeps me going... when I look at those photos I realise just how real my lungs look when I smoke...

Keep going hun, you can do it .... just think clean lungs, more money in your pocket.... fresh smelling you and your home!! So many positives! Remember smokers are in the minority these days, it's rather embarrassing to be a smoker in this day and age... :)

  • Hi everyone!

Just been reading through all of your posts and your all doing so well :) I have been an on off smoker for years, i started smoking when i was 11 (not properly, that was when I was 14). I managed to give up for a full 2 years after having my son (I used to smoke weed so when i quit that i quit it all) but today i have fallen off the wagon :( Really disappointed in myself, trying not to be too hard on myself though as 2 years is the longest stint of non smoking ive ever done, so i know i can do it again!

I really love being a non-smoker, and the thought of me smelling like a smoker makes me feel queasy! So tomorrow is going to be day 1 again for me, im throwing away the cigs and starting again! :)

Stress is so bad, I get the worst cravings when im stressed...
6 debts down - 1 to go: just over £1000 though, soon soon....

Staying happy and positive through 2011 (hopefully!) :j

    Hi WhispyW

Me too re: stress and cravings but smoking does not relieve the stress, we just think it does! I smoked 100s of cigs under stress but it didnt make me feel any better afterwards, I just hated myself more and punished myself more by smoking more... it's horrible... never thought I could get to this stage but I have and am here to help you x

  • 17 days 22 hours and 35 minutes so far for me. I am using 24 hour patch and an inhalator.
Some things I have noticed so far.
I have suffered with migraines my whole life, not had one since the day I quit !
No pins and needles or numbness in my legs since I quit !
No shortness of breath since I quit !
I have an amazing amount of energy since I quit !
    I have saved £137.49p since I quit !

God knows why I ever smoked !

I feel so good now !

Wishing you all success in your quit attempts, you can do it ! I have smoked for 26 years average 25 to 30 a day. Was always scared to give up, this is my first attempt and I although it's not easy, I will never smoke again !!

Good luck to you all but you don't need it, you can all do it x

I know, and i think i forgot that to be honest! Life's been pretty rosy recently, and then all of a sudden everything all at once is going awol and im beginning to crack at the seams, so i reached for the only thing i could control, smoking.. :( Its horrible cos i can feel the change in my body after smoking, my heart is beating really fast, and i feel really anxious, so even without knowing all of the things i know about harming the body, those feelings are not nice at all. Thanks for the support and the quick reply, really apprecate it :) xx

thanks for all your support. just wondering if anyone knows where i can pick up cheap nicotin minis from. i know i can get them on prescription but i have already used 3 tubes in 4 days. i thought 3 tubes would have been enough. i noticed they are around £11.99 so prescription would be cheaper. any help would be great.
  • morning all, did anyone choose to use the reward system at the end of significant time periods? eg a treat at the end of the first week, first month etc?
I am quickly approaching 90 days and originally thought that I would have a small party, but wanted to do something a little more significant than that - toying with the idea of a stand up comedy course or a bunjee jump.
    anyone got any thoughts?

Made it to week 3 and am so pleased with myself, quite a few friends are now giving up so its nice to know that i have inspired others to quit lol
  • Back again. Checked out my vital signs and there is nothing to indicate that it is a thyroid problem after all. I think this is the same problem I had before in a slightly different form. Last time it was panic attacks that disabled me for hours at a time. This time it is constant, high level anxiety. I emailed our smoking cessation service two days ago, but they have not come back to me. I believe they may only give out nicotine replacement anyway. I have previously had problems with anti anxiety meds so again, I'm not sure what to do. Also don't understand why it gets me like this...
