Hope you are all having a great Sunday, even if the weather is good for ducks and not us
Today I was ready to cut the grass and clean the windows. The sun came out this morning to say 'Hello', then the rain clouds came over to say 'Hello, we're here for the day' So the grass has not been cut and the outside windows are dirty!! Never mind there are worse things going on in the world at the moment and the grass and windows will wait another day.
I'm on a mission today to find an ice-cream scoop for my mash~do you remember the 'moulds' of mash you use to get at school~well I was no doubt the only school child that loved that and now I want to make mash mouldsAll I can find are 'not real scoops' I want one that has that metal bit that scoops the mash/ice-cream out, not one of those new fandangled plastic ones..
Slugger you will find a way of keeping up the quit, I guess we all have a different way of keeping on track and noticing a difference in ourselves. Mine is not going overdrawn at the bank to buy cigarettes and the weight gain, obviously the smell and not being ruled by smoking and as said having more time to do things. Being proud of myself. At first I didn't notice any benefits until I 'spoke' to Ross on here and he named a few benefits to me, breathing easier, not smelling of ciggies, walking up the stairs without a tight chest feeling.. I thought about it and yes he was right, the benefits were there I just didn't realize it. I wish you luck on your quit stay strong and just feel really positive. Keep thinking of why you want to quit, take walks drink water anything to keep you positive. x
Stay strong everyone and breath the fresh air that we now breath..oh it's lovely.
I'm off to find my scoop.

Hi everyone.
Hi Jammy, DD, Sue and anyone else who may remember me.
Still off the cigs, still wrestling with eating chocolate but tell me who out of us all is perfect eh?
I never ever think about smoking anymore and that's something I doubted would ever happen to me, but it has and it feels wonderful to be a non-smoker as opposed to an ex-smoker who is clinging on by the fingernails.
Keep it up everyone - just let each day pass and it will happen.
Sue I am still doing the sealed pot and will be back to report nearer the time!
Lots of love and hugs to you all. xxxxxxGrocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

Well I slipped
Fell of the wagon yesterday lunch time, why? I'm not really sure, as I mentioned before I had high expectations about giving up smoking, I thought I was gonna have more energy, I was gonna feel different but the reality was I never felt any different being a non smoker than a smoker, and I think thats what ultimately tripped me up,
So I think this time I am going in with the attitude of this is it, this is all there is and not going to expect anything to happen.
Hope this makes sense
Hey Slugger
Yes it all makes sense. How long have you been smoking for?Debt Bust LBM 01/01/2013 - [STRIKE]£11,115.28[/STRIKE] £10,593.81

Larmy! Good to see you and what a lovely positive post - so encouraging for others.
I do remember that you posted that you had struggled quite a bit with quitting............you must be so very proud of yourself! :T
You've also helped me enormously, your kindness and encouragement really helped so very much to keep me going, as well as your understanding of the way I smoked as our 'habit' was quite similar. For all of that I thank you very much :A
Slugger I didn't think I felt much better after stopping smoking.
I have now realised I actually do.
My arms no longer feel heavy when I bend over the bath when washing my hair (I used to have to stop 1/2 way)
I don't keep having to move my legs around in bed to stop them going dead
My legs don't ache all the time
My chest doesn't feel 'tight'
I don't feel so 'hungover' in the mornings
I'm not so cold all the time
I don't feel 'shaky / on edge' I am so much calmer now
Those are just the physical things, there are all the other postive things like
Not needing to be out in the freezing cold to have a ciggie
Not worrying about buying them (having to plan to get to a shop)
Not worrying about the cost of buying them
Not worrying about where/when I could smoke without anybody seeing me
Not staying up just to smoke or indeed getting up at 3 am to have 1
etc etc
Not smelling
Larmy said the following in her post:
'........ it feels wonderful to be a non-smoker as opposed to an ex-smoker who is clinging on by the fingernails.'
I can so identify with this, on previous attempts I felt like I was battling all the time, this time I'm not.
You said:

Does this mean you are stopping again and just going with it with no big expectations? Or do you mean smoking is your destiny and your not expecting to be able to stop?
I can't recall your quit time, but perhaps you need to give it a bit longer. Perhaps you could turn it on it's head and think about whether you actually do feel better smoking.
There's too many people to mention and I don't want to leave anybody out, so I'll just wish everyone well!Nicotine Free since 01.08.2010 :j:j:j

Thanks for the welcomes and advice guys
Well I'm still going! First couple of days were quite easy, today has been harder. I have been in a bit of a down mood and can't be bothered to do much so I have been thinking about it more and have been tempted a few times to go to the shop. I haven't though, I really want to beat this.
A lot of your posts make so much sense and are a real boost, it's good to hear from people who are further down the line than me. There are so many to name everyone but thanks for giving your support!
Sorry to hear of your slip ups Lucy and Slugger but I am glad that you are both back on the wagon now! I think that is really positive. As for feeling different, I am only in the early days. I don't feel any different yet I don't think but I can see positives - my house is starting to smell less and I seem to have a lot more time on my hands as I'm not thinking oh I will do it after a cig (which turns into a few cigs!) I'm thinking of wiriting these things down and pinning them up somewhere.
Hope everyone is doing ok0 -
Day 3 nearly over and done with (deceided to quit 4 days ago but had 3 on that day so doesn't count)
I cant stop coughing up nasty stuff, not sure if ill or if linked with stopping smoking. Had the odd moment but overall not been that bothered, Back to work tomorrow, should be easy working in pub and quitting unlike a few years backDebt Remaing £315 :jBreath out the past, Breath in the futureBig Dreams Start Small0 -
