  • Dansmum - Your dawg sounds a very fine specimen, just like Sidney! Its been cold here in the NWest but no snow thank God. I hope there isnt any this weekend as I want to have a few good runs with the hound. Anyway well done on your over payments and your future budget plans. I am just hoping that I can pay my mortgage off by the middle of the year so I can start chaneling my energy into something else. Speak soon :Dn

patentgirl - Your family sound fab. I am going to order a brochure for Hoeseasons asap to see what the price difference is between holidaying in this country and abroad. You said previously that you made Sunday dinner every week for your family. I really struggle thinking of different things to eat. Any chance you could let me know what things you cook. I am running out of steam a bit !! :)

Anyway today has been another work day. Thankfully I am not due back in work till next Tuesday. I have however provisionally booked it off because it could well be the day my youngest son moves house and he might need help.
As usual I have made my £2 mortgage payment. I know its not much but its better than spending it on a can of pop and a bar of chocolate at work. Yet more of the dreaded leftovers eaten today. Breakfast was natural yoghurt and a homemade sage and onion stuffing sandwich. Lunch was pate on toast. Evening meal was leftover homemade chicken curry from the freezer. The end of this freezer food still looks a way in the distance. I am doing some food shopping tomorrow but it looks a quite small list.
I am hoping the weather is dry tomorrow as I want to do a few jobs on my car. I decided a while ago to put my car in the garage every night to look after it better. My plan is to give it a good clean and hoover tomorrow weather permitting. The air con has stopped working so I plan to go to Quick Fit as I have been told that they are experts at refilling air con systems. Watch this space. I really want to keep my car in great condition for as long as possible so I need to start and get my finger out. ;)

Anyway I hope to hear from you soon folks.

:hello:Everyone glad to hear you are all doing so well.
I am feeling very tired and achy. I was going to go swimming in the outdoor Lido which I do once a week now but I didn't feel up to it today!
I had a fish pie that I'd made and frozen the left overs for my dinner tonight but although it was passable I'm really not a fan of food from frozen. I'll have to try and get portions correct so I don't have left overs I think.

Dansmum I do hope horsey makes a speedy recovery!

  • rubytuesday - Thanks for posting. I hope you are feeling a bit better today. There`s nothing worse than feeling under the weather. Take care.

Dansmum - My mortgage does seem very small in comparison. However this mortgage is not for the house we live in. I have actually been a bit of a careful bunny in the past and have bought a few rental properties. This is the only one with any sort of debt attached to it. I am just desperate to clear the mortgage so they are all paid for. Afterwards I will then have to start to make plans to clear the mortgage on the house we live in. That will probably take £156.25 per day to clear - And the rest :rotfl:

Today I have been off work and I wish all my days could be like today. I have been really happy and been very productive. I got up early and tidied up, put on the slow cooker (steak and onions in gravy). I then took Sidney out for a 40 minute run. :T

Next was my food shopping. I went to a few different shops but spent £21.36 in total. I managed to get some reduced fruit and I also stocked up on Campbells Condensed soup. I often use them as the sauce in a pasta bake. Anyway they were half price so I bought a few. Everything else was on the shopping list so I thought I had done really well with my money. Unfortunately I coudnt get any kale for the tortoise so I will have to make a special trip to Tesco to get some. :)

I did take my car to the garage today to get the air con refilled but the machine was broken. I will have to take it back next week. I did however clean the inside of my car and it is near perfect. I am really pleased. I did plan to wash the outside also but I ran out of time as we were going to the cinema. We went to watch "Hereafter". It wasnt what I expected but it was OK.

Again we have been eating from our stocks. I didnt get breakfast today. Lunch was a packet of pasta n sauce with cauli. Tea was steak and onions with mash and carrots. I have had all of this in my freezer for ages. The only new things I am putting in my freezer at present are loaves of bread and cartons of milk and they will be used up by the time I go shopping again at the end of next week. :)

Today I have felt a bit more positive about things. Consequently I havent reached for either the wine or the chocolate. :rotfl:I love being busy but if I`ve been drinking and eating rubbish, I feel so sluggish and lethargic. In fact I was so busy I almost forgot to pay my £2 off the mortgage but didnt!!

Anyway enough for today. I hope you have all had a great day.

  • Hello everyone,

I hope you are all having a great weekend. I have had quite a nice day. We have just got in from seeing our friends who own an Indian Buffet restaurant. We have had a lovely meal there.

I have been quite busy today and am feeling quite positive (even though I am having a cheeky glass of wine). Sidney and I went for a 45min jog this morning which always does me good. After our run I gave my car a really good wash. It looks perfect. I have a couple of small jobs to do on it and hope to get them done in the next few day. - ie. get the air con filled. Sidneysdad took one of my tyres to have a repair to the valve which cost me £7.50 but its better than getting a flat tyre. Looking after my car feels like money in the bank - a wise investment.

I paid £2 off the mortgage :T. I also planted some basil seeds in a pot to keep on the kitchen window sill. The seeds cost 19p so I hope they are OK. I am going to look out for some sage seeds and some for kale. I`m not going to grow then outside, but on a spare window sill. Hopefully they will save me some money in the long run.
As we went out for our tea, we havent actually eaten much from the freezer today except for some frozen bacon which we had for brunch. I have still got another 4 packs of bacon left in the freezer :)

I have managed to finnish a couple of items of toiletries - a body lotion and a shower gel. I have decided not to buy any more shower gel until I have used up all my current stocks of it and all the soap I have. We are going to have to use that in the shower when the gel has run out.
I said to sidneysdad today that I would hate to be the person who would have to clear this house out if we both dropped dead as we have so much stuff in it:rotfl:I think my sons girlfriend would get the job :rotfl:. She is my wonderful bonus after having 4 sons. I love her to bits.
Anyway enough of my ramblings for today,

    Tenth Anniversary Combo Breaker
    Hi everyone,

Hope you are all having a fun filled weekend???

Having a bit of an emotional rollercoaster ride over the last couple of days which has been a good thing, i've been questioning how i do things and realised i need to get my backside into gear and change a few things for the better, similarly to your work stress Sidneysmum, i've realised i need to re-prioritise some stuff and also make time for me (which until now has been a laughable unachievable possibility!!!)

We all have lots of balls in the air but i've been thinking lots over the last few days (oh noooooooooooo:rotfl:) and decided that i have to start putting me a little further to the front!!!

I'm quite fired up today (even though have stinking cold -AGAIN) i've been paid and i could barely believe it when i realised due to my not overspending plus ebay sales and other bits and bobs, i was able to pay £350 off of my barclaycard - yippeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee - i could never have believed how excited i would feel about saving money rather than spending it - lol.
Did food shopping yesterday and it was £65 instead of £90 (result), i did forget a couple of things which i popped to the shops for today but OH paid for them so NSD today for me.

Off of work tomorrow so i'm going to set up lots of lists and charts on the computer to cover all aspects of life, from shopping to the kids chores to 'me' time - i always seen to be better at sticking with a regime if it's written in front of me ., oh and Sidneysmum (thank you for checking my thread but i've decided unless i have something life changing to put on their i'm just gonna hang on the tailcoats of your thread and bore you to tears with my tales!!!) i too only work 2 days in the office but also do baking from home for friends on the other days plus looking after my non driving widowed mum, basically being single mum due to OH working away most of the time and i'm chair of the kids school pta oh and the housework/home stuff has to squeeze in where it can!! :rotfl:.

Anyway - have a fun rest of sunday.

    xx

  • trixiepix - Thanks very much for your massive post today. Its brill to hear from you. One thing about writing a thread is that it makes you start to think about things. Anyway congratulations on your payment to Barclaycard and also on keeping your weekly shopping spend to a minimun. Its great to feel in control.
Your lists are a great idea so good luck with them tomorrow. I know how hard it is to find "me time" when you have a young family. Please keep posting on this thread as its great to hear about your life and family. :)

Sunday is always a good day for me. Sidney and I went out for our free exercise first thing. I managed to give our bedroom a big clean before I started the cooking for the Sunday dinner - Roast ham, roast pots, new pots, carrots, peas, gravy plus jelly / ice cream, chocolate cake and home made biscuits. :D

This afternoon our builder came round to give us a quote for re- plastering one of the spare bedrooms. It belonged to son 3. I have stripped all the walls but they are very uneven and need plastering. Anyway he can do the job in about a fortnight. I already have the bedding for the room so once the plastering is done, I will need paint, a carpet and curtains. The bedroom was painted BLACK before. OMG. Anyway its being painted pink now. After four sons I think I have deserved a pink bedroom. :rotfl:

I made my usual £2 mortgage payment then I realised that its pay day tomorrow so I decided to check what money was left in my current account - the huge sum of £31.94 . So I paid that off the mortgage too. :T
Anyway this weekend I feel like I have made a bit of progress - getting my car sorted out and also starting to organise the spare bedroom.
Anyway thanks for reading folks. I would love to hear from you so dont be shy and drop me a line.;)

Well done on the card payment Trixiepix and the mortgage payments SidneysMum :j

Been a quiet few days here at DansTowers. Worked Saturday. Went to see my cousin yesterday whos just picked up a 9 week old Cavalier King Charles who was just gorgeous! We had a lovely big cuddle when he dozed off on me and has turned me quite broody :p

Am off again today - still bathing Dans leg as the cut is still quite nasty. Cleaned the bathroom and hoovered the living room and hall and dusted (that'll do :D) Have done my figures for the month and they make OK reading...

Now under the sleeping bag (again) with the Long Suffering Dawg and one of the cats.... Tasked with making chicken curry for DansDad who has a new bike and he's ever so excited! I'll do myself a sausage casserole in the slow cooker later on (only veg sausages so doesnt take a lot of cooking)

I have such a rock n roll lifestyle

  • Dansmum - Hi. How lovely - a puppy in the family. I just love owning a dog. I cant imagine life without a hound. Sid is just over 12 months old so more of a young dog than a puppy. I hope that Dan carries on improving. You sound like you are turning into a bit of a domestic godess with all your cleaning. Actually today I decided to clean the hob and oven which is a job I hate. However I have to say that my ovens are like new again. :T

I have been off work today and its been rather a nice day. Sidney and I took our free exercise this morning. Then we went out with a friend with her Jack Russell for a couple of hours walk. I feel really tired now. No wonder. :rotfl:

I did a bit of organising this afternoon. Paid my usual £2. Also I put some baked potatoes in the slow cooker. They have turned out really well. I am going to take them for my lunch at work for the next couple of days. I cut up the leftover ham from yesterday and bagged it up for the freezer. I also made my usual "roast dinner pie" to use up the leftovers from yesterdays meal. We had that for tea tonight and it was really lush.

I am starting to feel a bit more positive at the moment although I did have plenty of wine last night. I am going for a run with Sid every day I am off work. I have also started to work on the spare front bedroom - stripped the wallpaper and organised the plasterer. Also I have thoroughly cleaned my car inside and out and am on track to get a couple of small jobs done to it. :T

I hope you are all having a great money saving day.
