Dansmum - Great to hear about your one and a half horses. I have always been dog mad even though I have had a big family. Sidney is the second dog I have owned. My first one who Sidney replaced lived till he was almost 19!:) What have you cooked in the slow cooker?
Today I have been off work. Took my free exercise and had a good run with Sidney. I also did some food shopping. I spent £31.65 but that included £3.79 for baby wipes for my sons baby. My shopping was mainly dog food (stocking up) and food for our Sunday dinner. I am expecting at least 8 people this Sunday so I expect to pay a lot. I also bought 2 X 4 pints of milk which I decanted into 4 X 2 pint bottles. I am sick of the milk going off before we finnish it. Its now in the freezer.
Paid £2 off the mortgage :T
Had to spend more than expected on my sons car service. It cost £270 as my trusted mechanic found it needed essential jobs doing for its MOT next month. At least I know it should pass its MOT now
Anyway I hope you have all had a great money saving day.

Hello everyone.
Hope you have all had a great day today. For some silly reason I woke up today feeling very down in the dumps and have stayed that way for most of the day. I need to give myself a good talking to. Even my usual run with Sidney didnt brighten me up.
Anyway I did my usual and paid £2 off the mortgage. It is really making me think about my goal especially as I have to change my signature message nearly every day. :rotfl:
Unfortuantely I had to have a spend today on petrol. I filled my tank to the brim and spent £71.08. God a fortune !! The worry of all this is that my car doesnt even run on petrol but on LPG!! I only use the petrol to start the car so it better last a long time!! I have made a note of the mileage and I am going to do a few calculations as to how well my car is doing with both the petrol and LPG.
The only good thing regarding the petrol spend was that I got a £5 Morrisons voucher so I will use that at my next shopping trip there.
I went to the cinema today to watch "Black Swan" - a psychological thriller with Natalie Portman. I`m not sure what I thought of it. Anyway I dont think I`ve mentioned before but I go to Cineworld several times a week. I have what is called an unlimited ticket. I pay £13.50 per month direct debit and I can see as many films as I want. My husband is also an unlimited member so we get to see all the latest releases. Each week we go to see at least a couple of films so I consider it money well spent. :T
Hope you have all had a great, frugal day.

We're all feeling abit down in the dumps xx Heres some :bdaycake: and :EasterBun to cheer us up...
Well done on your OPs again sidneysmum xxx My poor old dog doesnt like long runs now - he'll be 12 this year - but still likes to go on holiday with us in the caravan to Devon...:D I know what you mean about petrol! I have a diesel 4x4 and it'll cost at least £100 to fill up... I stick £30 a week in it at the moment.. Unfortunatley these itty bitty fuel friendly cars dont haul 2.5 ton of horse around!
Trixie good luck with the ebaying pile!!! I must get in the loft this weekend
I'm feeling a bit rubbish as well - Mums horse whacked me right in the jaw last night. Made my teeth ring! A bit swollen today waiting for the bruising to come out. DansDad is waspy as well - always is on a Saturday - he gets stressed as he has a full days work

Hello Trixiepix, rubytuesday and Dansmum - What are we all like feeling down in the dumps? I think I could eat a massive slice of the cake Dansmum. I wonder if being down in the dumps has anything to do with the time of the year or the weather? I am normally a really positive person but I am having a few problems at work which are beginning to stress me out. I am hoping it all blows over this week. I hope you all start to feel a bit brighter soon. I think the good thing about this board is the moral support and friendship you get from all the people who post. I think I need to give myself a good talking to tomorrow.:D
Anyway today has be a soso day. I personally havent spent anything but sidneysdad paid for us to go to a buffet / restaurant for our tea. We actually went to check out what the food was like so we could go back at a later date with the kids.
Moneywise I have spent £2 on my mortgage today. I have a few spare pounds in my purse so I am hoping to pay them off the mortgage on Monday (Will have to go to the bank). I think sidneysdad and I might have a bit of an expensive month coming up. Our youngest son who has a baby with his girlfriend need to find a house of their own. They are currently living with girlfriends mother and father but they are overcrowded. Anyway we all went to see a beautiful little house today but I think we are going to have to help out big time with the bond and 1st months rent which is required as a deposit. As they are both so young to have a baby, they have no savings etc. Never mind. Our grandbaby is beautiful so we want him to live in a nice house.:o
I read a motto on here the other day which I thought was great. It said something like - God gave you two hands, one so you could helf yourself and the other one so you could help others. How wonderful:T
I have been thinking today that after I have paid this mortgage off, I might just try and save a few thousand pounds up. I`m not sure what I will do with it. We already have some savings but they are earmarked for certain things - eg. None of our 4 sons are married yet so we have a bit put by for when the do. Anyway I would like some more savings just for savings sake IYKWIM.
Anyway enough of my rambling for today.
Take care.

Hi everyone
Hope your Sundays are better...
Savings are good, I have a little put by in case I have a big vets bill, or the car goes poop, as you never know... Sorry to hear about work Sidneysmum, hope it blows over x We're really lucky as I have a great team, although sometimes we have our little spats! DansDad and I work and live together and sometimes that can be, shall we say, interesting :rotfl:
I have hit my monthly NSD target today so will pop that up a little. :A My Mum came over this morning and we took Danny to the local forest and had a ride through there which although it was cold was a lovely hourDan was really good had a nice canter along a grassy track and we saw planty of deer. Mum took her dog which wore him out nicely. He's only young but is really good. We had a bit of a fright when we got back as her horse was flat out in the field. Despite calling him, he didnt move. We rushed over and he looked like he was having a fit or something. BUT he was dreaming :A Thank goodness! I've never seen a horse dream before, as they usually sleep standing up. He was OK. Phew!
I didnt get in the loft so will really try to do that this week. Have 11 or so items on ebay with roughly 2 days to go so will try for the end of the week.....

Dansmum - How lovely to hear from you and for telling me about your day. Its great to hear about you going out with your mum. I think I am soo close to my kids because my mum died 20 years ago when my children were young and they became the sole focus in my life ( apart form the hound!! ) LOL. Its great that you do things together.
Sundays are a great family day for me as I love all my kids getting together at our house. I know they love a "free meal" and a good gossip. Today I did a big roast dinner ( chicken, new and roast pots, carrots, peas and stuffing). They all ate tons but there is enough left over for roast dinner pie tomorrow tea time for me and sidneysdad.
I am hoping that once I have paid my mortgage off that I can make some additional savings. One option is to have a family holiday for my 4 boys plus 2 girlfriends and 1 baby. Hopefully I can save enough money so we can all go abroad for a week later on in the year. If we could go somewhere the kids would enjoy, (loud and noisy) me and sidneysdad could chill out with the baby. I am not sure if I will be able to save for this in 2011 but 2012 will do if not. I have mentioned it to the troops and they think it would be brill - a week misbehaving and me and dad there to look after them and the baby. I just love having kids who are happy to be seen dead with me and sidneysdad .:rotfl:One advantage of being young parents!!
Today I paid £2 off the mortgage. I had to go to the supermarket unfortunately as we had run out of ice cream and we always serve jelly and ice cream and cake on a Sunday. I spent £5.81 at Morrisons but used up the £5 voucher I had. I bought ice cream, cat food and some pork to use up the voucher.
At the moment I have been feeling a bit down in the dumps due to problems at work. I hope that tomorrow I have a bit of time to focus on some goals. I know that I need to make a few changes in my life. I need to stop having the odd bottle of wine at night. I feel soo much better the following morning when I dont have any.
I am hoping to start to make a few plans tomorrow so watch this space.:T
Sorry for all my rambling

Glad to hear you've had a lovely day Sidneysmum. Your holiday plan sounds good. I would like us all to go to the Scilly Isles for my fiftieth next year but I don't know if it will happen as my son is often away for work for long periods at a time. He'd have to pay for himself too as he earns a fortune!:rotfl:Here dead we lie because we did not choose

Hello lovelies,
Dansmum,
You'll be glad to hear my ebay pile is gradually diminishing, i've sold quite a few bits over the weekend (mainly only for 99p though, but at least the 99p's will add up and the clutter is finally leaving the house) - i popped my head into the attic yesterday to clear a space to enable the boxes of xmas decorations to be packed away and realised there is still tons of stuff up there to go - aaaarrrrgghhhhh - it feel as though i am wading very slowly through treacle - perhaps this will teach me a lesson on not continuing to be a pack rat.
It was lovely hearing of your afternoon cantering through the forest yesterday, i conjured up a very serene picture of you enjoying the moment, at the same time i was up to my ankles in dust from behind my girls wardrobe after moving it across the room - not such a serene image - lol:rotfl:
Sidneysmum, i so want to come to your house for sunday lunch, it sounds fab, especially how close you all are. My dad died 2 weeks after DD1 was born (unexpectedly) so i am really close to my mum and similarly to you have focused totally on my girls (probably too much but i can't help myself as i love them soooooooooooooooooooo much), i only have a brother and he lives the other end of the country and we're not close, my mum was an only child and my dad had 1 brother who he rarely saw, my inlaws are a nightmare so as you can image there isn't a great deal of family around!!!
Well, seeing as i'm at work i best hop off and do some !!!
Have a fun filled day
xx
