  • welsh mummy - Well havent you been busy? :) Since I have got a grip on my hoarding, I have saved quite a bit of money and I think you will too. I am being very strict with myself and only buying what we need. I have never spent so little money in my life. Anyway good luck.

Today has been another day off work. The weather has been very windy but I bit the bullet and walked into town. I bought a birthday card and spent some money in the poundshop - 3 cans of tuna for £1, some light bulbs. All far cheaper than the supermarket. :T I have now got all the birthday cards I need till the end of March. Mrs Organised. :rotfl:

Sid and I had our exercise this afternoon and had our run even though it was blowing a gale. Paid the usual £2 off the mortgage. Tea was leftover ham with home made chips and baked beans. Real comfort food. Tonight we went to the cinema to see "sanctum" which was quite a good film.

Anyway I hope you have all had a good moneysaving day today.

    Tenth Anniversary Combo Breaker
    Hi all,

At work yesterday and today (boooo!!!! - actually it's quite a nice break away from poorly children knowing they are at home being cared for beautifully)
Did a few surveys last night as couldn't face more ebaying but had to feel i was generating money from somewhere!!! (its absolutely addictive this saving malarky) so had completed enough surveys on and off over the last few weeks to get £5 transferred to my paypal account - not a lot but it all adds up as i'm now realising - also transferred £100 of ebay money into the bank yesterday, so today i'm toying with paying it off my barclaycard or next account (not sure yet!)
Had to get a birthday pressie yesterday but instead of a thoughtless £15 gift i put a lot of thought into a present which was £5 and was so appropriate for the person i was buying it for - i guess it is the thought that counts!!, also had to get a box of chocs for a work friend who has been helping me out (which i got free with nectar card points) and brought a couple of bottles of wine from home for another colleague today - so i've graciously thanked people for their help and it's cost me zero - yippee!!.

Hope to have a NSD today and back to ebaying tonight!!

    xx

Hello - just a quick pop in to say I hope you're all well xxx

Dan still lame boo hiss :( Spent £22 on more lotions and potions at the vets yesterday - then realised that ebay would have provided it cheaper  Paid the water bill today got diesel and cat litter/dog treats. At least the sun is shining...

Most of the panels are down now - we've had to buy a few more posts as some were rotten. Looks a bit of a nightmare at the moment, but hoping to have some panels up today so I'll see when I get home :D

DansDad has his bike - its very lovely so waiting my go  The problem is now I want a new one :o Having my cancer charity tattoo done on Friday :D

Put 3 items on ebay today so fingers crossed for them - Am still waiting to do an OP for Feb... Would like to do £250 but I think £100 will be more realistic as the panels etc cost more than I thought

ETA Have just checked the bank and OP'd £59.39 which takes the mortgage to £50900 Would love to be sub 50k by the middle of this year....

  • trixiepix - What a good idea about the birthday pressie. Its lovely to receive something that someone has thought about before buying. Keep up the good work with the surveys etc.
  • patentgirl - Hope you are feeling OK now. Nothing worse than feeling ill at weekend. Not pleasant on a Tuesday or Wednesday but worse at weekend. :rotfl:

Dansmum - Gosh you do sound busy with all thats going on in your life at the moment. Bet the garden fencing will look fab when its done. More hugs for Dan from me and Sid. :)

Another day at work today which dragged like mad as I wasnt feeling too good. I think I suffer from stress quite easily. Its always on my mind about DS3 being in Afghanistan and if I have anything else which is worrying me, I start to feel quite bad. Hopefully my son will be back in the UK in May so that will take a lot of pressure off.
For me, stress is a viscous circle. When I stressed I tend to start having a drink of wine at night which in turn affects my sleep and makes me sluggish in the mornings. In turn I feel bad the following day. Its so hard to break the pattern of stress once its started. I am quite conscious that my weight at the moment is Ok - I am 10 st ish and 5ft 5ins. However 12 months ago I was over a stone heavier and its taken me a lot of exercise to loose it. I dont want to put this weight back on. :T Moaning over now.:rotfl:

Not much to report really today other than making my £2 payment yet again. Myself and sidneysdad are still munching on leftovers. Porridge for breakfast, (I still have a huge bag of it left so it will be a couple of months before its done) leftover Christmas pate on toast for lunch. Evening meal was baked potatoes and beans plus a box of Christmas canapes (mini goats cheese tarts). We only have one box of the canapes in the freezer left so I will be heaving a great sigh of relief when they are done. For afters we had some leftover chocolate muffins with custard. Very nice.

I hope you have all had a great moneysaving day today.

  • Hey all,

Hope those of you who have been poorly are feeling better:o

Dansmum - good to hear the garden is taking shape (just looking at mine wondering where to start!!! plus the blinking windows need cleaning!!! - there's always something that needs doing
arrrrgggggghh )- how's Dan doing today?

Sidneysmum, i can sympathise with the whole stress thing, i can't even begin to imagine the stress from having your son in Afghanistan, but i've always been a stressy sort, i've suffered from panic attacks on and off for several years which i know gets gradually worse the more stressed i am, so i should be so careful about managing it but i'm one of these people who hate to say 'no' and i like to have a busy life but only this week i told OH i'm gonna have to start to shed some things that are going on at the moment as they are making me really stressy - keep your chin up chick and know that its always better to share how you're feeling.:)

NSD yesterday, girls are back to school today, weather is really uninspiring (very grey)- trying to get back to my pre-christmas routines (which have gone to pot since beginning of Dec) so this morning is housework and stew in the oven for dinner, doing a few jobs at my mums house later then home this eve for more ebaying and on the Wii fit - hopefully NSD again today too!!

    Have a good day

    xx

just a quick hello to sidneysmum and to everyone else who has posted and to say how much i enjoy this thread it has deff given me insperation to sort myself out , i dont have a morgage as my house is council rented but do have lots of smaller debts which are hopefully going to be sorted asap , quick intro im 45 live with my oh i have one daughter who lives just up the road from me with my son in law and 2 grandsons aged 3 and 8 i dont work because of various health probs that i wont bore you with at this stage .
i found martins website middle of last year and it has given me loads of ideas i now buy early for xmas boots sale ect make my own presents and cards have got birthdays more or less sorted untill end of may ,i am taking my daughter on a spa day for her 30th in may ive got to pay for her to go and myself with dinner afterwards so need to find the money for that im putting things on ebay at the mo because you all have given me a push in the right direction hope you dont mind me popping in will look forward to your next instalments lol thanks girls and keep up the good work x
  • trixiepix - Thanks very much for your encouraging words. Appreciated. Glad you are managing to keep busy and get a few jobs done. ;)

jezebel1 - Welcome, Welcome. Really pleased to hear from you. Its great to know that people are reading our ramblings.:rotfl:You sound super organised with the birthdays. Do you go to car boots often? I just tend to start going about Easter when the weather is a bit warmer but I buy loads of stuff. Some of the stuff I keep - such as quirky things for my house. I often buy things (mainly pottery) to resell. I dont make a fortune selling stuff but I just love doing it. Keep in touch. :)

Today has been my second and last work day of the week. Pretty uneventful really. I paid the usual £2 and ate leftovers at work. Pate on toast for breakfast and leftover quorn chilli and rice for lunch. We went to our neighbours Indian restaurant for tea as we had a birthday card for him so we ate there.

I had an email today at work to say that I would be receiving a long service award (God I`m only 46 :rotfl:) and its £150 worth of a choice of vouchers. I will be having M&S as I love shopping there. I`m not sure when I will receive the vouchers but I think it will be fairly soon.

I am off work now till next Tuesday and I hope to make good use of my time. My five days off just seem to fly. I have started making a shopping list for Friday and its going to be a biggy for me this week. I have started to run out of quite a few things so will have to restock. I have also made a provisional menu plan for the next 3 weeks using up a lot of what we have in the freezer and cupboards. I think my freezer stock is now going to extend to at least the first week in March. OMG.:o I am never doing this again. I just want to get to a position where I just buy what we need or whoopsies.

I also decided to use some rank bubble bath to clean the loo. The only alternative is to throw it out. Its definately gone off the boil and is not good enough to use as a bath or shower product. I would say I still have about 12 shower gels left and about 9 body lotions. However I`ve not bought any bathing products for months now. With regard to cleaning products, under the kitchen sink is looking a bit roomier :j. I am hoping to just have one or two cleaning products in the future instead of about 10 half used ones.

Anyway enough of my ramblings for today. Hope to hear from you all soon.

  • Patentgirl - No we don't have anything like that near us, we do have a sale next month, where we can sell clothes, toys etc, the only downside is that they take 30% commission - but did it last year and made £120 so might try that again

Sidneysmum - we love going to the car boot, roll on the nicer weather - love buying things that I can put on ebay for a profit - last year bought 2 things for £2.50 and made over £30 on ebay! Also, what a great idea to use up bubble bath that you don't like - cleaning the loo :rotfl:

My son is off her nursery from today until next Thursday for half term - looking to fill up the days cheaply - have loads of plans but all depends on the weather!

Hopefully another NSD for me, only have swimming later with my son but that has already been paid for! Third day in a row if I don't spend anything.
