  • Hellooooooooooooooooooo all,

The hope of NSD drifted away this morning!!!!, had to bob out to buy valentines cards for the girlies & OH (he's in my good books at the moment!!), went to local pound shop as the cards in Mr T's were just ridiculously expensive and so bought 5 cards for less than £2 - result!! - did pick up a few other things in there too. I had to do a replacement make-up shop too and as it was a No7 concealer i needed i was truly tempted by the 3 for 2 offer as i was on the end of my mascara too - so now have the 3 things i had either ran out of or was about to run out of for £18 - hadn't intended to spend that much but hey!! (now gotta work out how i'm gonna pay for it!!!!)
The shopping didn't stop there as bobbed into a few charity shops, one is an absolute favourite, and i wasn't dissappointed - bought a wool wallis coat for £8 (reduced from £16 - i didn't even realise charity shops had sales!!!) and some other wallis, warehouse and m & s bits for work (all paid for by cake profits) then.........went to morrisons for lunch (again paid for by cake money) as had to get fresh bread + milk (shopping budget). So in the big picture of things i've come home with lots of lovely new stuff for an absolute fraction of what i would have normally spent and had a lovely day!!

Back to ebaying again tonight!!!! oh and ironing - joy!!!!

    xx

  • welshmummy - Thanks for your update. When my boys were little I used to love taking them to feed the duck. I cant wait till baby grandson is old enough to enjoy it too.:)

trixiepix - What a great day. I love a bargain hunt. The Wallis coat sounds a bargain to me. I bought a beautiful M&S red cord coat off ebay just before Christmas. Everyone compliments me on it. I wonder if they would still be so complimentary if they knew it was second hand. :rotfl:- Or should I say "nearly new".

Today had been good so far. I have had a day off work so Sidney and I had a leisurely morning. We had our usual run. In fact we went about 10 mins further. It seemed a shame not to as the weather was so good.

I paid my usual £2 today. I have had to have a bit of a spend on other things also. I had a haircut which was £9. Nothing really is it £9 ? I also decided to fill my car up to the top of the tank with petrol as I had some cash in my purse. I might not be as well off another month so having a full tank will come in useful. I did do a bit of maths with my fuel consumption. My car runs on lpg and it costs about 18p a mile at todays prices. I also need petrol to start the car and to run for the first mile or so until the lpg kicks in. My petrol costs me about 9p a mile. So all in all its costing me about 27p per mile to run. Has anyone else checked the fuel costs of their car. I just wish I worked locally then I could walk to work instead of us each having to have a car.

Today I used used up the last of my washing powder. This is the first time in over 25 years that I have used up washing powder before buying a new one. I have an outdoor wash house at the back of my kitchen and I usually have a couple of boxes stored there. Not anymore - :rotfl:. Tomorrow when I get my supermarket shopping done I will be buying 1 box. No more stocking up.

Had porridge for breakfast today. Didnt bother with lunch as I had a very late breakfast. Tea was toad in the hole and I have finally used up our freezer stock of sausages. :T. We had mash and onion gravy which was rather nice. While the oven was on I put in a couple of baked potatoes for tomorrow. I also had my first attempt at making tuna, sweetcorn and mayo filling. It all looks very nice.

Anyway I hope you are all having a great day.

:hello: Hello everyone I had no internet last week and didn't get back online until Tuesday evening.
Been catching up on the frugal thread which took forever and a day.

Sorry to hear the news about your redundancy patentgirl but glad to hear everyone else is doing so well.

I had my hair cut at Trevor Sorbie last week paid for by my son as a Christmas present and then on Monday I had highlights done there for free (although I did give the young lady a tip). Pleased to get it sorted at last. I tend to leave it for about six months as getting my haircut is like a form of torture for me and I like to go there even though it is so pricey!

Yesterday I had to attend court as a witness in an assault case and due to the defendants playing silly B's it ended up being adjourned so I was there from 9.30am until 3pm for nothing!

Managing to keep my spending fairly low apart from stocking up on Tesco's 3 for 2 cat food deal. It is available on dog food too so may be of interest to some of you.

I have also managed to stay out of the Charity Shops so far this month but may go to a jumble sale tomorrow.

  • jezebel1 - Great to hear from you again. Sorry to hear about you OH`s job. What a pain. Hopefully he will get sorted with something soon. However well done with the bargain dresses and also starting to organise your spa day. ;)

Well I have had a day of spending but I am really pleased with my spends. Morrisons - £19.66, Netto - £19.83, Farmfoods - £9.23 and Home Bargains - £13.18. In total £61.90. Anyway out of my spends we about £2`s worth of bits for my son in Afghanistan. I stocked up on loo roll, washing powder, pet food, a huge box of walkers crisps, and pork shoulder for our Sunday lunch. The pork alone was over £11. Everything I bought was on my list except the 4 tubes of toothpaste I bought as home bargain were selling large tubes of crest at 50p. I normally pay over £1 for the same product. Everything I bought was a need not a want so all in all I am really pleased with myself. :rotfl:This is the first proper shopping I have done since mid December. The only additions I made to the freezer were the pork shoulders (for Sunday dinners) and this weeks bread and milk. :rotfl:I am still on track for emptying the freezer sometime in Mid March :D

I think the fact that I am just visiting the supermarket on a Friday is saving me loads of money - no more random purchases and also a saving on all the petrol I must have used getting there and back. God I am turning into a real tight wad. :rotfl:

Did my usual £2 payment off the mortgage. I was well brassed off as I was due to get £200 rental income today and my tennant could only pay £150.. Not amused. Anyway I will have to see what happens. I did get £5.50 Tesco clubcard vouchers as well which was very nice!!

Had porridge for breakfast, baked potato with tuna and sweetcorn mayo for lunch. Tea was homemade chicken curry using chicken thighs from the freezer.

Anyway not much more to report today. Hope you have all had a great moneysaving day.

Thanks Sidneysmum I suppose my raleigh ladies bike is vintage now! I've had it for nearly twenty five years!

  • Hello All,

I forgot to tell you all that I had been to the cinema last night to see "The Fighter". It was a really enjoyable film. Try and see it.

Today has been good so far. I decided this morning to have a look in my current account and see what I had left. I decided to pay £200 off the mortgage. I dont have much left in my current account now for the month but I do have some cash at home so that will last me till pay day in a fortnight.

I have been reading a thread on MSE about working full time and being old style. Up until two years ago I always worked full time and had the 4 boys at home. I always had to be uber organised to get things done especially as I also had a long journey to and from work. Anyway I think I have got very lazy since working 2 days a week and spend far too much time in my pit. I could happily stay in bed for 12 hour :o. Anyway I have started thinking that I should maybe start to get up earlier in a morning and start and get a few things done. My cloakroom, pantry, wash house and other rooms really could do with a spring clean. The garden needs attention but they are not going to get done whilst I lounge about in bed :rotfl:Watch this space.

Foodwise today I had baked potato with tuna and mayo for lunch. Very nice. Tea was pea and ham soup from the freezer and sidneysdad made bubble and squeak for the first time. It was all very nice. :)

For the past few weeks I have been looking for kale seeds but with no luck. I am the proud owner of Florence the tortoise. She lives in the pantry in a vivarium. Well she loves eating kale and it is costing me a couple of quid a week. Anyway today I have ordered some from ebay so hopefully I can get some planted soon.

Hope all of you are having a great day.
