Cinemas: No wonder we're all pirates!

It could be that Cineworld and Odeon couldn't put more screens and showings on if they wanted to, if warner brothers are saying no.
It is very likely that the film reels have been returned to the studio who will re-distribute or destroy them as appropriate. For redistribution they will go to smaller cinema chains / independents or to other English speaking countries. A different sound track can be added for non English speaking countries.0 -
How does selling every seat become "messing up"?
Well for a start the cinema times were different to the ones on their website, imagine if they didn't get there early they would of had to wait for the 8PM which would of caused even more of an inconvinience. And surely if a Film that has massive queues even after 6 weeks after release should be allocated more then 1 screen whilst the others are being wasted on Gullivers Travels?
The only thing I would of done is book your tickets online, I think pretty most all big cinemas offer that service now.I try to help as much as I can. But I'm also honest and speak my mind.
Smoke free since Jan 2014If you want any advice on quitting please send me a PM.

I honestly believe they should offer you compensation. I believe companies should compensate when they mess up
How exactly have the messed up, demand is overdoing supply and as the OP said, they have had 6 WEEKS! to see that film. The Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!
If I give you advice it is only a view and always always take professional advice before acting!!!

Don't the film studios have a lot of say in what a cinema can show and for how long? I remember there was a big thing about the Alice in Wonderland film last year and some cinema chains were refusing to show it because they could only show it for a certain number of weeks and then it was going to be released on DVD.
yes i remember that as well, i felt it was a bit mean of the owners of alice in wonderland
heres a bit from wikipedia
On February 12, 2010 major UK cinema chains, Odeon, Vue and Cineworld, had planned to boycott the film because of a reduction of the interval between cinema and DVD release from the usual 17 weeks to 12.[64] A week after the announcement, Cineworld, who has a 24% share of UK box office, chose to play the film on more than 150 screens. Cineworld's chief executive Steve Wiener stated, "As leaders in 3D, we did not want the public to miss out on such a visual spectacle. As the success of Avatar has shown, there is currently a huge appetite for the 3D experience".[65] Shortly after, the Vue cinema chain also reached an agreement with Disney, but Odeon had still chosen to boycott in Britain, Ireland and Italy.[66] On February 25, 2010 Odeon had reached an agreement and has decided to show the film on March 5, 2010.[67] The Royal premiere took place at the Odeon Leicester Square in London on February 25, 2010 for the fund-raiser The Prince's Foundation for Children and The Arts where the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall attended. It also did not affect their plans to show the film in Spain, Germany, Portugal and Austria.[66][68][69] The film was released in the U.S. and UK, in both Disney Digital 3D and IMAX 3D,[46] as well as regular theaters on March 5, 2010.[70]

When we got there, the only showings were at 4pm and 8.30pm. Luckily, we were early, so we got in the long queue, to see the 4pm show. Got to the end of the queue at 4.10pm, to be told that it had sold out. My DH had a bit of a moan along the lines of "well, why are you showing it on only one screen and yet you have 4 screens showing "Gullivers Travels", which no-one wants to see?" When the girl at the till shouted out that HP had sold out, half of the queue walked out!
After a frantic call to my sister to find out the times at the local Cineworld, we dashed there to catch the 5pm showing. Again, it was only being shown on one screen, again it was sold out and again "Gullivers Travels" was being shown on 4 screens. We tried to book tickets for the 8.30 showing which was also sold out. We gave up and went home and ended up watching a pirated copy last night with a cup of tea and the rest of the left-over Christmas chocs.
I can't believe that a cinema with 10 screens can sell out every seat for a film that has been out for almost 6 weeks! There was clearly still a big demand to see the film, why were there only 2 showings each day on just one screen? It's like they don't want our money. (Which is hard to believe, looking at the price of their horrid food!) No wonder illegal downloading is so popular!
Im kinda with you on the watching of a pirate - I dont buy pirates and never have as I wouldnt know where to get them from, but if friends or family members get one, I always have a watch - I do this for the sheer fact of not being able to afford it! It costs for 2 of us without popcorn pr drinks £15! Thats a hell of a lot of money for 2 hours entertainment! I would prefer to have cheaper cinema tickets and then go more frequently - surely the cinema people realise this? Haha - NOPE - just like all other greedy companies - people will always pay to see the next big film...Loan finished Sep 2010 - HSBC CC - WAS £750 now £0! Natwest CC - WAS £1600 now £100 - Overdraughts to be worked on! WILL be debt free by mid 2011!!!
£2000 Saved so far for maternity leave - Our baby girl arrived valentines day! Elsie Ann - WELCOME

Some pirated copies are excellent DVD quality. If you know who you're buying 'em from, you can't lose0

I don't think cinema's are over expensive, true they are not cheap but if you compare them to similar length experiences e.g. theatre, football, gigs, etc i think they compare favourably, also there are always deals to be had, orange wednesday is a great deal(i'm not on orange but everyone has a friend who is and can do the text for them) and in Manchester if you pick up a spinningfields yellow card for free you get £4.25 tickets all day every day at the AMC.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Cinema prices are a little OTT and luckily enough Mrs Alias has a student card to bring the prices down to just below £6 each.
Though, we are sure enough to take our own food-sweets from the local supermarket in with us to munch on.0
