I recommend Metanium for nappy rash- it comes in a yellow tube. I can literally put that on H at one nappy change and it will be healed by the next one.:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator0

I second Gisi - we use metanium once and all nappy rash has gone :cool:The one thing children wear out faster than shoes is parents:D

We got some other antiseptic one for bleeding bottom. Can't remember it because I have left the tube at nursery (and typically, she has nappy rash).0

I just used Sudocream on nappy rash and that worked fine for us, along with bare botty time to let the air get to it.
According to Charlotte, there's a new girl in her class at school and she's called Jasmine Shoelaces Flo Rida :rotfl:

Can I ask when/how/who does your housework as I never seem to have the time and DH comes home in a mood every night as the house is like a 'bomb site'. He leaves at 8 home at 7, t doesn't really nap at home so I go out at lunchtime ish so I get a break, plus has stopped napping in morning!! Also t decides to be unsettled like till 8/9ish so I am usuall bathing/feeding from 6/7 tilll 8 then trying to settle him so don't fancy doing it then. He seems ok on the gym for a bit plus can put in him the cot for a bit but also feel like I need to do things like eat (!) have a shower, laundry so never seem to have the time to do washing up or cleaning. To be honest I think me not doing chores is really annoying him and is annoying me that doesn't appreciate lack of time or what I do do,any advice welcome as could drive us apart?
I have the same problem - plus an unsympathetic oh who thinks housework does itself (you just tidy up as you go along ....blah!) anyway I vary between chaotic and reasonalbly ok depending upon how much time off I have had from youngest and find that the one thing that really helps is to make sure I only do a job once by putting stuff away rather than in a pile to be done at another time ...I'm a terror for that :rotfl:. Stufff like hoovering and floor washing is secondary to everything else I'm afraid so we often have very fluffy carpets and I've been known to get down with the dustpan and brush rather than faff with the hoover if I have visitors expected.Hi, Posted on facebook too, but not everyone reads there:
I've been reading about Martin's keenness to lobby government to make financial education mandatory. http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/banking/2010/03/making-money-can-be-childs-play the question I have for you all as parents is: do you think good financial education is the responsibility of the schools? How much responsibility do the parents have? Also if you feel you are responsible, what strategies and ideas do you have for teaching your children about money?
On this point I remember not even knowing how to write a cheque when I first got a cheque book, let alone have anything to do with budgeting.
I think the problem might be that when you come from really poor stock you dont budget so much as juggle your money. For example I remember when I was newly single being told that if I ever needed to I could go to a local shop and buy groceries by cheque and it wouldn't be cashed until friday. I certainly remember changing dates of dd's quite often as it would mean nearly a months payment holiday if you got the timing right lol!
Anyway I agree some real world financial planning in schools can only be a good thing. I'd certainly be happy if my son stopped thinking that I could magic money out of thin air. Maybe a few projects in school might sink in further than my continued bleats of "money doesn't grow on trees you know" (like my MY mother used to say too lol.)MSE PARENT CLUB MEMBER.ds1 nov 1997ds2 nov 2007:jFirst DDFirst DD born in june:beer:.0 -
Aaaaaaaaaaaarghhhhh I wish babies understood that when Mama and Papa have a late night they are more than welcome to sleep in. Was drinking Coke all night but the caffeine kept me up past two
Great gig and as always the babysitter was a rockstar. Grumpy Miss M hadn't cracked a smile all day, then in walks A and her little face lit up.Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

I'm a terror for that too
This year I've started putting things away properly rather than putting them in a place to do later, which never gets done and I just end up with the same random piles of clutter, just in different places
Charlotte wanted to taste my coffee this morning. It's bitter blend and I've brewed it strong with just a splash of milk and no sugar which I love. She had a taste, pulled a face and said "bllleeeerrrrgghhh that is so minging" :rotfl:
Got to pop out this morning and do an audit for work, then got plenty typing, laundry and housework to keep me busy for the rest of the day.
Have a good day all xxHere I go again on my own....0 -
MV - just wanted to say Ive just read your birth story and it's remarkably similar to mine, I was also distraught at the thought of my OH leaving me but there was nothing I could do about it - thankfully it seemed to kick the labour off and he was back within 2 hours! Well done for going through all of that - and my MW was correct when she said that when you have your second, you won't even bother with a birth plan because everything always just goes out of the window!
Hope you get more success with the breastfeeding soon and don't you dare even consider beating yourself up about giving Josh formula. Hugs xxMy debt free diary | Post Office loan: £2131 1429.38 | Barclaycard: £4429 1988.12 | Paypal Credit £322.71 574.91 | Monzo Flex £169.03 |

Morning! Sorry I haven't really been posting the past few days...been feeling a bit stressy and emotional, but then AF shows up last night so at least I know it's just hormones!
May I make a suggestion for all you new parents - The Happiest Baby on the Block by Dr Harvey Karp. It's a gentle, non-medicated solution to calming fractious babies. I really really want to encourage people to try things that don't involve medicines first, as personally I feel like it's all too easy these days just to reach for the nearest bottle on a shelf. Link goes to a video, but I HIGHLY recommend the book to understand the whole approach and the finer points of his methods. Basically, you need to emulate the womb environment for a baby's first 3 months to help calm them down.
(I'm not trying to be judgmental, honestly, I'm just trying to offer a small prod for Another Way besides medicines and such. I have no beef with people who go that route, as everyone winds up doing whatever they judge to be best. PERSONALLY, I have made an attempt to avoid giving my baby medicines except when absolutely necessary, and that included colic remedies. It might be a bit more work to go this route, but if you'd like to try a way that doesn't involve medicine, I do highly recommend it.)
Hugs for poorly babies & mummies, hope everyone feels better.
