Sweep, yep you have to agree and it involves the midwife 'sweeping' the cervix to seperate the membranes around the baby from the cervix in the hope that it will induce or at least help mum go into labour. Its very straightforward, no apparatus just midwifes fingers, the longer the better:p:rotfl: It gets offered at 40 weeks (for baby #1) here if you haven't already gone into labour.
And remember its not guaranteed to work, mine didn't...I was VERY put out lol Oh also tell your daughter to wear dark bottoms and take a sanitary towel as its obviosuly internal and all sorts of gunk comes out including blood...I wouldn't say it's painful but it is uncomfortable..nothing a few deep breaths won't sort out though:D
ETA: LINKY about membrane sweeps
Hope all goes well with the birth x
Hi, Thanks for replying and for your good wishes. Im already a gran though to Caitlin 7 and Josh 4 who are one of my sons children. Caitlin was early and i was lucky enough to see her being born and Josh was born on the bathroom floor - well he would have landed there had my son not caught him lol.0 -

One very frazzled mummy here. Braved the long bus journey to go get the Antilop highchair from IKEA today (LO is 6 months this week and we want to get on with BLW). Outbound wasn't so bad, but coming back I had highchair, pram, bag and baby who pooed 10 mins into an hour long journey to manage and a woman with six (yes 6) unruly children got on, there were no seats so they all gathered round their buggy which was next to mine and gawped at me trying to BF.
However very pleased with my purchase, the chair is simple and practical to use and more than 20 times cheaper than the designer one I first purchased. So :money:We Made-it-3 on 28/01/11 with birth of our gorgeous DD.0 -
I'd have changed her on the bus!!! Squeak screams the place down if she has a stink. We've had to stop a few times on the motorway to sort her out!
Squeak loves her antilop too

Morning
Never changed a baby on the bus, but have breast fed them all over the place and most of the time, nobody even knew
Weather is grey and miserable here. Where's the summer sunshine?
Off to work this morning. Have a good day all xxHere I go again on my own....0 -
The weather here has been odd to say the least... one minute gey cold and wet, ten minutes later blazing sunshine and back to grey again by bedtime.
Best do breakfast I suppose, really can't be doing with today, I want to go back to bed!
Going to try and tidy up my room whilst the monsters are at holiday club and Squeak's asleep. Yesterday she slept the whole 2 hours in her buggy, if she does that today I may actually be able to get things done up there, it's a tip, because I can only tidy when she's asleep and she's normally in there!Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession

Fuzz I was in Tesco yesterday and saw something called a cot hanger. It looked ok, mirror, crinkly stuff, characters etc. It wad too girly for Joseph. I'm not sure of the brand but I'm sure it was fifi flowerpot. Just looked on their website and can't see it. I'm going in again today so will have a look. Have a google for 'cot hanger' xx0
