    Sounds like good progress Keely.

Has anyone taken a baby abroad on holiday? We are going to Spain in September and I know we can take a buggy for free on the budget airlines, but we need to get a taxi at the airport to our apartments. Will we be able to take a car seat? Will we have to pay for excess baggage?

LL - that must have been really scary, glad all is OK now with your little one.

We have had much better sleep last few days, she will sleep in her moses basket again yay. Even had a 5 hour stint a couple of nights ago!

I am also happy as we have started getting smiles

Hi all ...not been on for ages as life has (as always) been hectic and I never get the chance to use a computer any more. Anyway I am due to have the baby two weeks tomorrow by CS...and am v. nervous as I can still remember last time :-( ....Am frantically hoping I will go into labour early but given my history of late births in the past it seems unlikely.

On the nits issue - I've only stopped getting them regularly since ds1 started seniors school which has been a relief - unfortunately now ds2 is in playgroup I'm sure it is only a matter of time !

Love the car seat above ...cant possibly afford it for ours though...little one will be in our previous stage 0 car seat which I wrapped and put in the loft two years ago thinking I would prob sell it with the loola that it goes with when ds2 outgrew a pushchair. Guess I should be happy abpout that but I would dearly love to get a new pushchair now for the new baby but am stuck with the loola as no way will oh agree to buying a new one. I'd like a phil and teds now ..... must stop fantasy shopping lol!

Thanks Becles. Do you want to give us of names a few of the good ones you have seen?

    These two were highly recommended:

    http://www.smythstoys.com/group-123-322sc/britax-evolva-123-car-seat-f10756pd.aspx

then there were cheaper ones as well which looked decent enough.

I need to buy a birthday present for a 2 year old girl. Any ideas?

What about clothing? Some nice pyjamas or summer outfit like a pretty dress or top and shorts set. I normally buy my neice clothes as they lives miles away so I don't know what toys and books she already has.

Asda and M&S sell Peppa Pig clothes. Charlotte recently got a pink Peppa nightly with frills round the bottom that she loves. She also loves anything with Hello Kitty or Tatty Teddy on.

He seems to be interested some times, then other times he wants a nappy back on. I'm assuming he's not quite ready yet still? But it's good he's showing more interest.

Sounds like he's making good progress. It does take a little while and when they are involved with something, they tend to forget. Just keep reminding him and remember to get super excited when he does something in the potty :D

Yes you will have to pay extra to take your car seat with you. Are you booking the taxi yourself? Usually you can pay a couple of quid extra to book a car seat and it will be in the taxi ready for you.

You can keep your buggy until the plane doors. They'll give you a luggage tag for it when you check in, then you can keep it right through security and airside. When you get to the plane door, one of the ground staff will take it and put it in the hold for you. As they were last on, the buggies are often first off too at the other end.

Be aware of the liquid rules. We found it easier to buy milk and jars of food for the journey in Boots airside once we got past security.

If you have any more questions, just ask as I know how daunting it can be travelling with a baby, but it's honestly not as bad as it seems.

Awwww that is a lovely picture Wendz. She is absolutely gorgeous.

Nice to see you tss. Hope everything goes well with the section xx
Here I go again on my own....

CL we went to Miami with our 3 month old. Took our car seat and hired a buggy there. I think you can have one or other for the plane. Other tips; we changed LO by putting the mat down in the basinet rather than struggle in a cramped toilet, also if you are breast feeding make sure you have a pillow so they don't bang their head on the metal arms of the seat.

Thanks everyone. I just called Easyjet and they allow you to take 2 items of baby equipment per baby without charge, so I can take a buggy and a carseat, as the apartment has a cot. I'll be back to work by then, so have decided to just do the bedtime breastfeed after that, so will need to have some formula and think about what food she will be having. It's a bit of extra work traveling abroad with a baby, but it's for a family wedding so we have to go.

There is a bus to and from the wedding venue, as everyone is staying in apartments/villas by the beach and the hotel for the wedding is a bit of a distance away. Only problem with that is the bus is leaving the hotel to return to the apartments at 2am. Our LO will be 10 months old. Should we just hire a car and take her home earlier? I can't see her being able to sleep during a wedding party.
