Bigbird, I started Isaac on purees as he was 18 weeks when we began weaning. He was permanenty hungry and attempting to get the food off my plate. I don't regret it at all. After a short time of purees and mashed - and I mean short, I was way too lazy to make purees etc to be honest - I moved to giving him the same food we were eating. I've kept it fairly plain with no or little salt etc - lots of pasta, rice, different meats, lots of veg. eg if we're having a chicken roast dinner then he has some too. Lunch time can be beans with toast, cream cheese on bread, cheese, anything really! He has yoghurt, fruit, rice cakes etc for dessert. If he wants to pick the food up that's fine - inevitably in goes in his mouth.

He has now reached the stage where if he is having something different to us then he squeals a lot and won't eat his!

Thanks! I have the programme "Heroes" to thank for converting my DH to the name! He is now 7 and a half months old and attempting to crawl! Can't as yet but is getting there!

And I loved Joshua as well! But our friends wee boy is called that so couldn't use it! (still love it though!)

MV he is still gorgeous :D

I have court today, for the contact saga that still rumbles on. What is bothering me is that if KH's mum doesn't drive him, he might be on the same bus as me as he has regrettably moved closer to us. I'm hoping he won't be on it. Fortunately Squeak will be at home with OH who has had to get the afternoon off special :p so I'm sure she will be happy to have some Daddy time.

I went into our co op this morning and came out with three bags of shopping, and every single thing featured a yellow sticker :j Oh I'm easily pleased. Got OH a pepperoni meat feast pizza whith chillies, one of the expensive huge fresh ones for £1.60 so I can have that cooking when he gets in to butter him up. Might even finish the washing up so he can really not be grumpy :rotfl:

I am watching yesterdays CDWM and it's actually given me a good idea for the monsters, she did a chocolate peanut butter cookie pizza lol mine don't like peanut butter but I was thinking could do for DD1's birthday, huge biscuit base, nutella and white chocolate buttons and curly wurly :D They will be awake for days :rotfl: Not entirely sure why the loud one did that at her dinner party but who knows?

Don't think I will let the children get trollied like them though :rotfl:

ETA we are doing BLW and Squeak does eat more or less what we have for dinner. At lunchtime she likes to have cheese on toast with sliced things, like peaches, cucumber, tomatoes, apple, grapes, banana (though she finds them a bit slippery) and orange segments, and her personal favourite kiwi fruit.

We're lucky that she has been almost continously teething since she was about 5 months, because it means everything goes straight in her mouth, and then if she likes it more goes in :o
Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession :o:o

Nephthys we have been doing a similar thing with our LO. We started with pureed fruit and veg at 18 weeks. Then after 2 or 3 weeks we started mashing with a potato masher. Then after another 2-3 weeks we started giving her foods that we would eat (minus salt) like bolognese with pasta, steak casserole (blended) with mashed sweet potato, homemade vegetable soup (like !!!!-a-leekie) with a mashed potato in it, plus others. I spoonfeed her this food.

I taste everything I make for her and if I wouldn't eat it, it goes in the bin. I find it quite offensive when the BLW brigade call this type of food slop. I give her sliced apple to suck/chew and pieces of banana. When her hand-eye co-ordination is better I will give her more finger foods. I am also BF and have made an educated decision to feed my baby this way.

You're right BigBird, I have been unhappy there and you are right, this could be the rocket I need to get me to finally move on.

Guess it's my self-esteem issues making me think I wont be able to find anything else.

I think we could manage for a bit on OH's salary if needs be. It would be very tight but with a lot of budgeting it should be doable.
ditto. I have a low self esteem and a low opinion of my work too. I'm loving maternity leave so much I'd love to be SAHM. At the moment we're surviving quite well on my £500 SMP (plus OHs wages). So I could happily get a part time job at a supermarket and scrap my career forever. I wanted to have a career change (am a programmer and want to work with animals - always have), but now is just the wrong time to do it but it is something I will do when the kids are at school.

    lovely photo MV.

Is it possible that DD has constipation? She's not poo'd since Tuesday (I didn't know this - OH has just told me she didn't do one in yesterdays morning nappy) and she's not done one today yet and she is straining a lot. She's breastfed - but could my rubbish diet have an effect? Anything I can do for her? I have read that it's perfectly OK for a breastfed baby to go days without pooing. I just worry a lot :)

Giz, my niece works on a Saturday as a receptionist for a vet (and cleaning, etc). She is planning on starting her vetinary degree this year. You could look for something like this to get a foot in the door?

CL that sounds exactly like us! I'm BF too and it all seems to be working better for us now. and funny we do that too - if it doesn't taste good to us then he doesn't get it! I also tend to spoon feed a good deal too. he get handed bits of fruit rice cakes to hold himself. I have to admit DH gets traumatised at the mess at mealtimes but I don't let it bother me too much. If he wants to mash banana on his face then fair enough - as you say hand-to-eye coordination is being learnt and every baby learns in their own way at their pace!

How old is your wee one now?

Hi Nephthys. She's just about to turn 6 months. What age is yours?

Here's a little pic of her from last week.
