Sashybo - Stray thoughts amongst the wilderness of debt

Picked up our new car last night and it's lovely - very sleek and has heated seats.

Started back at work today for my 7 on so a lovely 5am alarm.:( OH 's hair stylist friend is coming over tomorrow so I'm getting a hair cut after work. :j
Going out to La Tasca tonight as OH has a mystery shop there. :j
Feeling really achey from the Blast Off DVD yesterday, going off to have a nice hot bath in a minute.
Went into town after work to get the cardigan I saw but didn't like it when I tried it on. Also tried on some jeans which were lovely - if only I could have got them past my thighs.
Have definitely put weight on. Sizing is so weird in shops - I seem to vary between a size 10 and a 12, veering more towards the 12 these days. Bought some pyjamas and underwear instead and some toiletries as well. Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Good news about the car, but shame about the finance thing, but maybe its for the best. At least you are now starting to get on top of things. I know exactly what you mean about being stuck in between sizes - I must be a size 11! Annoyingly, I tend to find the more expensive shops I can fit comfortably into a 10 but then I got to Sainsburys for work trousers and am completely stuck. It's so irritating.NSD -5/20

Hi gilli and sazzle. :hello:
Had a nice dinner last night and the money will be paid back into the account when OH gets payment from the mystery shop company. :j
Work was quiet so not too bad but feeling very tired now. Came straight home and did some housework - washing on, washing put away, ironing done, bathroom cleaned and bin emptied and cleaned. Think I'll need a nap as flagging now.
Just had a cup of tea and cuddle with my youngest cat - he's very affectionate.
Forgot to mention the other day that the naughty creature pulled up the carpet and it jammed the living room door.
I got up in the morning to feed the cats as they were crying away - very annoying and was still half asleep. We have glass panels next to the living room door so the cats went mental because they could see me and they really wanted fed. Only, the living room door wouldn't open more than a couple of inches. Yes, the naughtiest cat on the planet (and also the daftest) had been pulling at the carpet in an attempt for attention (and hence breakfast) as he knows he gets shouted at for doing it. The stupid creature had pulled the carpet right up and it was blocking the door!
We still haven't sorted out the threshold from laminate flooring in the hall to carpet in the living room as it involves having the (very heavy) door taken off etc so the carpet isn't held down at the door.
My stupid male cat was so desperate for his breakfast he had locked me out! :rotfl: I had to shove the door a couple of times until there was a big enough gap to squeeze through to fix the carpet so the door actually opened. The stupid cats were meowing at the top of their lungs the whole time as well. I am so not a morning person and they were driving me crazy. They just looked at me like "Why did it take you so long?" when I finally got in as well. :rotfl:Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Oh dear, it's been a while since I posted here.

Good news is that I've paid off my Barclaycard. :j:j:D So the next target to pad to is OH's Capital One card. Think I'm going to save any survey money etc towards possible laser eye surgery - still need to make some appointments to check suitability and get quotes.
Got some boots from Sainsburys yesterday for work - £35 but were half-price, plus 25% off, so got them for £13ish. :j:beer:
Money-wise things are okay for now, just need to be careful and not spend on random rubbish.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £10,345, Car loan CC 0% BT £4900. Debt Free Diary to try & keep spending in check.0 -

Thanks sazzle.
Yes I was almost as pleased with the boots as I was with paying off the cc.
Have been looking at figures this morning and decided to put the full debt amount in my signature. Still a scary amount but a lot better than when we started our DMP a few years ago.
I'm not going to count the 0% post grad bursary I'm paying back as it doesn't impact my credit rating and similar with the car loan from OH's parents. Once the credit impacting debt has been paid off, then I'll count the car loan. We are of course paying the car loan back starting this month anyway but I think I need the psychological boost of only having our DMP/Northern Rock debt in my signature.
Have also started my laser eye surgery fund (pending quotes and suitability) with £26.06 from various surveys and my Paypal account. So that money has been put into a separate savings account and I will add what I can from surveys etc. Most surveys pay in vouchers now though so will have to think about putting away a set amount per month from my wages as well.
Not got any real plans today - might go into town with my mum if she's feeling better or maybe see my sister if I can get hold of her, she never seems to answer her phone. My nephews and nieces will have forgotten who I am at this rate!Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Haven't had time to post as just working away - only two more shifts until I have a couple of days off.
Still haven't seen or heard from my sister.
In better news, my mum is much better and back at work. She's knitted most of another cushion cover for me as well but has run out of wool and it seems to be out of stock everywhere.
Going to Carlisle in a couple of weeks on my weekend off work so looking forward to that.
Nothing much to report on the money front, will be paid again in two weeks so can pay a bit more off OH's Capital One card. Was thinking about putting my Sunday overtime money towards the laser surgery fund as get roughly £90 for a Sunday shift and generally do 2 or 3 a month. Something to consider anyway.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £10,345, Car loan CC 0% BT £4900. Hi sashy
well done on paying a card off. Just think what it was like when you finished your last job. You're doing so well.

Thanks gilli.
Sometimes still feels like one step forward and two steps back but getting there slowly.
Yes my sister is hopeless - never answers the phone, never phones back etc. I've not seen her or the kids for at least two months! She only lives 10 mins away! When I'm working 7 days in a row it's hard as well, the kids will forget who I am!
Will get my mum to phone her and see if she can get in touch but think she's been playing silly b*ggers with her too.
Last late shift tonight. :j Then two days off and back on for another seven. *sigh* Going to try and see my sister on one of my days off if she ever answers the phone! Will see my mum one day anyway and maybe go for lunch with friends if they're not working.
Had terrible cramp in my calf last night that woke me up, so am limping about the house today. I hate muscle cramps, can't stand the pain. :eek:Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £10,345, Car loan CC 0% BT £4900.
