Is anyone able to recommend a NAS squash that doesn't taste too sweet? I've replaced my life-saving morning glass of orange or grapefruit juice with squash (Ribena or grapefruit so far) but haven't found one to my taste yet.

I drink Morrisions NAS lemon juice, it's the only squash I really drink after Tesco's stopped doing their value squash. You used to be able to get 1.5ltr for around 38p. I think it's about 88p at Morrisons.

I find with other Tesco squash you need a lot to get any flavour, Morrisons is not sweet at all, and you don't use loads trying to get the flavour right.

I buy Tesco's double concentrated sugarfree blackcurrant and apple.

This time of the year I drink it hot, it's like a fruit tea.

What she said woot. I must admit I thought there was a supreme irony in yesterday's exchange. Generally I have felt out of place on this thread because I can be critical of the SW formula approach to meetings and blind acceptance of the mystique behind why some things are synned and not others. Like others I can't help questioning if I don't understand something otherwise I feel patronised. However yesterday when you rose to the defence of SW......

Sorry but I think yesterday's 'heated conversation' might have been misunderstood there, I wasn't attacking SW and wootball wasn't defending it, we were just debating the group environment and the fact that I didnt like it and he does.

I trust the food optimising system, but I think it's fine to question, criticise and debate some of the rules. I am not one to follow blindly either. But at the end of the day we all know it works, whether you do it at home or at group.

wootball, how funny that people thought you were an oldie! I bet others think the same of me - but we are the same age!! hehe just goes to show the young'uns can be just as loud and opinionated as the oldies!

Tesco NAS blackcurrant and apple (double concentrate) is nice, I have it quite weak though.

I like Tesco lemon, it's the regular nas, double concentrate one. Also they do a lime nas cordial (56p the other day).

I was wondering about syns and whether it's best to have a steady amount each day - say 10 per day (which the consultant at the meeting i went to said should be the max for women) or to have a different amount each day?

Some days I have 18, other days I have 3 - it all balances out right??
(I make sure to have a weekly running total in my head so i stay within a suitable limit in total)

Is there an official SW line on this? What does everyone else do??

So excited - I lost 8½lb in my first week at today's morning group

Wandered around Asda in a daze. I have been to Slimming World several times in the last 5 years (only once got to target) and have never 'til now followed EE.

    OMG it works :T

Oldie?? Well now I know how people get offended by words from a stranger!!

    I'm 24

And I too had a blowout this week - last Wednesday. WI night is always a treat for us so I had chicken nuggets and chips from the chippie. Worked out exactly how many syns I had eaten, and adjusted my weekly allowance accordingly so I was actually allowed 10 syns per day instead of 15. I've been around 5 for each day of the week since then, and also been at the gym four times and the Wii once. I feel like I've worked damn hard this week, not touched a drop of booze (my biggest poison) and got firmly back on track. Fingers crossed for tonight, I'll be pretty disappointed if I haven't lost anything.
I thought you were in your mid to late 40's! :o
    Good luck for tonight.
  • Did I tell you about my funny turn yesterday - I almost fell off my crutches when I was just standing still, and was hallucinating that the handles had broken off when they hadn't!

Good luck for your Wi today Dizz, and anyone else who weighs in today.

    Me today:
    b: grapes :o I got up a bit late :o
l: frubes x 2 (say 2 syns?), Hm soup, cashew nuts (b), cottage cheese, mixed bean salad and salad.
Coffees (a) and 3 quality street (2.5 each, i think).
    d: no idea yet :rotfl:

I have melon and grapes and more frubes on standby in case of studying munchies, not to mention several types of sugarfree sweeties.

Veryvery... Don't be offended if nobody replies to your request for syns. Those who are current subscribers to the website & class are usually very kind and take the time to look things up for the rest of us on here, but we must remember that its their time ~ it takes about 10 minutes to log on and find the right product, maybe another 5 to make the post on here - so even the most kind hearted of people who could do it must occasionally get fed up if they have done a lot of it recently - in all honesty I know I did when I was in their shoes. :o

It is also very possible that your request got lost as this thread is very busy at the moment - it quietens back down to a pace most of us can catch up on in a couple of months time, but its the equivalent of having to wait an hour instead of 5 minutes to weigh in at class on here at the moment ;)

There are a few very quick methods you can use to find the likely syns if you don't have access to the SW website:
    • Buy a food directory. Last year's will only be marginally out of date so still very useful - I'm sure they are available on ebay if you can't get them in class.
    • Google "Slimming world syns" and add in the name of the product you are looking for. If it is a popular product chances are someone somewhere on one of the many slimming world support websites will have asked the same question and had an answer.
    • Guestimate using the 20 calories = 1 syn rule of thumb. This appears to be most accurate when there is little or no free food in the product (e.g. sweets, cakes, sauces).
I'm not trying to say don't ask on here at all, by all means do ~ but hopefully the above might get you an answer quicker and more reliably than on here, and saves those absolute darlings who look up the syns on the SW website for us, some shoeleather. :)
I was about to say similar about googling syns, before I joined online or if I cant find it online I google the product then put syns on the end and it usually comes up.
