700 calories a day is not healthy though!

Good Lord it definitely isn't - if that's your normal intake, I would question how you need to lose weight!

At the end of the day, no 'diet' will work long term unless you find something that suits your lifestyle so that you can keep it up forever.

I'm glad you've found something that works for you but will you always want to be writing everything down, adding up etc etc?

    Thanks Consultant

But which mince? Lean or Extra Lean? :o

Because lean (i.e. less than 16% fat) is 0.5 syns per 28g! (for EE) so that can't be 'free' can it?

Am i making a mountain out of a molehill?

I always buy lean mince (it's generally easier to find) and cook it off, pour it into a seive, dab well with kitchen roll and call it free. It may not be exactly what should be done, but once it's cooked out, there can't be any fat left IMO :D

  • Just had this for tea.... and it was delish (and by my reckoning free on green and EE) Hope it's not been posted before!:o

    One chopped onion
    one red pepper
    cup of sweetcorn
    can of chickpeas
1 Turnip (I used white turnip but I think you could use swede instead)
    3 cloves garlic
2 chilli peppers (or teaspoon of dried chilli seed)
    1 tbsp cumin
2 tbsp curry powder (of your preferred heat)
    carton tomato passatta (500ml)
    Chicken oxo or two.
    salt and pepper

sweat the onion pepper and garlic in frylight for 5 or 6 minutes. Add cumin and curry powder and cook, stirring, for 3 - 4 minutes. Add the rest of the ingredients and then water to bring it to a consistency you like. Cook on a low heat for one and a half to two hours. (might be a good one for the slo-pot) season to taste with salt and pepper before serving.
It freezes really well and goes with jacket pots or rice or chips or salad!

700 calories wasn't my normal intake (far from it haha), but following SW to the letter that's what my intake was going down to.

I'm using the SW principles in terms of eating superfree over free foods over HE's over syns. This is the main reason I've lost weight, I was just surprised at how little I was eating when I was being good. To combat this I'm eating a few more pasta based dishes, compared to my meat/potato/veg dishes which are pretty low calorie. My weight loss has increased since I've started doing this, so it's obviously working for me!

It's true - calculate the calorie intake of some of the food diaries posted here and they are scarily low in calories. SW has me quite worried at times. Not picking on anyone in particular, but MrsM's food diary above has less than 1000 calories, including the wine, the avocado and the pasta.

That's not enough for an adult, especially if they are overweight to begin with. (I don't mean any offense by this, just the way BMR works)
Whatever doesn't kill me, can only make me stronger.

Morning all, I'm so pleased it's Friday! Going t try my wedding dress on tomorow then I'm out for lunch then at a birthday party, could be a bad one on the syns front!!! Will try to keep syns low today but at MIL's for tea and she cooks with oil and doesn't do half as much veg as me so I'm going EE today as there's no way I'll get 2/3rds superfree!!

Brekkie - porridge (HEA&B), banana, mixed berries
    Snack - plum, apple
Lunch - mixed salad with a little tuna, salad cream (1), sort of dynorod soup, pineapple, yogurt, jelly (0.5)
    Tea - ???

Hoping for a walk if I have time!!

Not meaning to be funny here, but I dont get why you follow the SW plan if you dont agree with it Woot?
And how can you work out someones calorie intake from their food diary when they dont give any portion sizes?

Theres no doubt whatever you are doing is working for you.....but dont forget a couple of weeks ago you were on here asking why your OH wasnt losing and what she could do - we all gave advice (following sw principles) about increasing superfrees, varying what she ate for a change etc - you yourself admitted you werent fitting these into you're meals, and low and behold it worked for her that week.
The plan is tried & tested, and has helped millions lose (and keep the weight off if done properly) SO I really do think you should hold your tongue a bit before jumping to conclusions about other peoples menus and the SW plan itself.

WI last night and I stayed the same which is annoying as I stuck to plan and increased the exercise. Determined for a loss next week as only two pounds to go to target.

    EE
B - yoghurt, melon and pineapple
S - 2 alpen lights and yellow plums
L - chicken salad, yellow plums and fibre plus bar
    S - melon and grapes
    D - Indian takeaway

Good luck to all those weighing in today, congrats to all the losers and hugs to those who need them
