I love that magazine am always 'veganising' and lowering fat on the recipes on there! Forgot it was out today must try and nip to WHS as cant find it elsewhere in our small town!

I love it too :D I bought myself a 6 month subscription as a Xmas present. It was £16.50 but I also got the Rose Elliot Complete Vegetarian Cookbook free with it (which is RRP £25!). The book is fantastic, thousands of recipes, lots which are vegan or can be adapted. It's worth looking into.

Skips are 4.5 based on the syns calculator, so better than you thought!

    WI day today smiley1295.gif

Plan for the day - Green

    Lunch - low fat supernoodles
Dinner - Beef chow mein (2.5 syns for the Blue Dragon sauce plus 2 HEB for the beef)

So I've got 12.5 syns and a HEA to fit in. Might have a slice of chocolate log (the last of it) for 13 syns as it's my WI day hehe.

Can someone confirm for me that I'm ok to have double the meat allowance and use 2 HEBs? I'm not sure if I'm meant to have 2 different ones or if it's ok.

Hi all. Had a really good day yesterday - totally stuck to the plan and had just 9 syns. Also went for a jog even though it was raining and now I'm really glad I did.

    Meal plan for today:

B - frozen berries, yoghurt and oats (HEB)
L - chicken pasta salad with feta (HEA)
    D - chilli, rice and 28g cheese (6syns)

    Snacks - ff yoghurt, fruit

I will be having my first WI since Christmas tonight and I am very scared indeed!

My Mum has signed us both up for a 10k run in May:eek:, so I will be starting a proper running routine tonight, which will (hopefully) help with the weight loss.

So, I've learned the lesson to not allow other's cravings for foods to affect my day's plan. The problem was there wasn't enough chicken to keep a fillet back for me to have one to myself with a spud & salad, and do the pasta bake for the rest of the family. If I'd only had jacket spud and salad, I'd have been stuck with just beans to put on it, and there wouldn't have been enough balance in the meal really.

Re pasta bake - I make a lovely SW friendly one using Pasta n Sauce (tomato and herb flavour). 2 packets of pasta n sauce, cooked on hob for about 5mins, fry some onion/garlic/peppers, mix into P&S, along with some sweetcorn/beans/whatever else takes your fancy. Put in oven proof bowl, top with cheese (2 x HEA amount), cook for about 20mins in oven approx 200C.

This is free on green day (plus one HEA). I find it makes enough for a big portion for dinner, and leftovers for a lunch/snack the next day. It tastes better the next day! :)

I'm veggie so have not tried this with other flavours or with meat but I assume it would work?

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know why Extra Easy is the plan being mainly promoted and discussed at meetings? The new booklet being promoted to buy (free to new joining members though) gives only the lowest syn rating on recipes for either Green/Original or the Extra Easy syn rating, but not all 3. Are they intending to phase out original/green? Since joining I've not really been encouraged to do the red/green days, and have stuck with Extra Easy because that's been the only plan I've heard being discussed. It's only as time has gone on, and I've become more familiar with plans, and looking at member's food plans on here, that I've felt more confident to try a red or green day, but I'm still not really au fait with the do's/don'ts, apart from knowing to syn/heb meat on a green day.

I feel the same! I'm so pleased I've joined in with this thread as I'm now feeling brave enough to branch out a little and do red/green days! It really helps on days when my main meal doesn't really have any veg in it (curry for example) as I don't like fruit. Now I just limit the meat and I'm all set!

    So thank you everyone :T

Is this your first weigh in since xmas? If so I don't think thats too bad!!!

I gained loads more than that lol

Nope - the week before Xmas I gained 4lbs, Xmas week I lost 1.5lbs, first week of new year (yesterday) gained 2.5lbs.

Total holiday season gain of 5lbs. Overall total loss since end of July - 3 stone 6lbs (48lbs).

Just found out that Kingsmill 50/50 doesn't count as a HEB, which is annoying. So I've synned my two slices for breakfast as 5 syns and still need to eat a HEB. On the plus side that means I can have bread with my dinner, but still annoying as I don't want to eat any more bread!

I finally did it! :j got me 1 stone sticker! :j
5.5lb off this week, 1 stone 3lb in total :D
    wow well done
i hope to get my 1 stone sticker next week but i only have 1lb to go!!

going out tonight and not sure i will get a proper dinner so got a breakfast from the canteen.

beans, tomatoes, 1 bacon and 1 veggie sausage.
unfortunately the sausage wasnt quorn, more like a linda macartney one so will have syns.

also picked up a salad for lunch along with a muller light. only thing in that which looks synful is a scattering of seasame seeds.
it also has a section with kiwi and orange pieces in which should be nice.

and to snack on or have as a quick dinner before theatre i have 2 alpen lights and an apple.

have deliberatly tried to keep my syns low today incase we pop into mcdonalds on the way back from the theatre. if we do i will have a chicken nugget happy meal.

Also - Wednesday nights treat needs to stop. I had nuggets and chips from the chip shop last night and a piece of chilli chocolate, worked out I had 45 syns last night. That leaves me 60 for the rest of the week so 10 each day, but I don't want to use them all as I want to get my Xmas gain off as soon as possible. Aiming for 5 each day, meaning I've already used todays! Grrr, gym tonight

    Afternoon all

well done on the losses :T

Sarymaclary -your sauce came out at:-
    1. butter 7
    2. milk 4.5
    3. parmesan 1.5
    4. cheddar 6
so 19 for the lot ;) was ther any flour in there to make the roux?

Do you have any cornflour in? if so of if you can get any I do:-
    • 375ml semi (1.5 heA)
    • 5tsp cornflour (5)
    • 1 tsp mustard (0.5) -or use powder for free
    • 105g low fat cheddar (2.5heA) -or 70g full fat
    • seasoning...
now it does 4 for us so costs 1heA + 1.5 syns well when you can use yours heA it does...
It is really nice and means your hubby can still have his lasagne etc :T

Well folks I had my brekkie and did 30 mins (450cals) on the wii before 9:30 this morning whacky068.gif so I thought I would post before I get off upstairs and fettle our room (didn't get it done yesterday slap.gif

so then -its a green day today and looks like this:-
    • 250ml semi (A)
    • 1 banana
    • 2 potato cakes (5)
    • 1 apple
    • home made vegetable soup
    • frozen tropical fruit
    • veggie pasta bake :-
    • cauli
    • broccoli
    • leeks
    • onions
    • peas
    • sweetcorn
    • 50g dry weight pasta
    • home made cheese sauce (A+1.5)
    • frozen cherries
    • activia (2.5)
    • fibre plus bar (B)
Ok that should be 2A+1B and 9 syns accounted for - I have to say that I am sooooooo stuffed from the potato cakes that I doubt I will want lunch AND I may miss the pasta out from dinner for me and just have veggie cheese wink.gif.
I wouldn't normaly buy potato cakes but these were whoopsed to 60c for 4 from €3.95 eek.gif -so I have 4 packs biggrin.gif. They aren't the thin pancake like ones they are more like bubble n squeak -they are mashed potato with cheese n spring onion in :-
Mash Direct - Delicious healthy natural mashed potato and vegetable products ready to heat and eat
but next time 1 will be plenty.. and rather good at 2.5 syns each on green biggrin.gif I may use some with dinners -I could bash them up like bubble n squeak.....they are very tasty...
I have realised though that I now get full an awful lot quicker than I used to and also that I can't stand feeling over full or the feeling I get when I have had too much "stodge" -so those 2 potato cakes have sat a bit too heavy for me... still I will learn wink.gif
anyway I had better get off and get our room done.. have a lovely day everyone and keep up the great work!!
