  • Hi everybody!

Well I must say this is my 1st ever post on here and I'm really hoping you guys can help me out :)

I'm starting this Slimming World as of tomorrow- having fairly followed it today but not to the letter. I'm doing it all on my own as I cant afford the classes and just need that moral support :)
I stumbled across this site and thread at work this afternoon and having been reading on and off ever since!

I'm a size 14 and seem to slowly be getting bigger- gone are the years where I could pretty much eat what I want and stay the same size and unfortunatly I've learnt the harder way. I only need to lose 2-3 stone (that might not sound alot but the way I feel its a huge mountain!) Ive lost all my self confidence and motivation in the last year with this weight gain and its time for a change :)

My BIGGEST down fall is dairy :( so Ive now bought RED.....YES RED MILK!!! I've got the scales out for the cheese!

So I'll be logging on everyday with my Food Diary and weigh myself once a week :) Heres to hoping for a successful 2011!! (and getting to know you guys!)

To be honest, Sammy, I'd still be worried about the beef. Just because it doesn't state "fatty beef" or "quite fatty beef" doesn't mean they took the trouble to cut off the fat before mincing and making it into meatballs. The best way really is to make your own, or I like Asda meatfree meatballs which are very very few syns. As for dry frying, why not make up your sauce first then cook the meatballs in the sauce, save any frying problems. I never realised they were supposed to be fried first

Back from WI and GUESS WHAT - 2.5 lb off!!!:j:j:j oh and we all have to do three episodes of 15 minutes of breathlessness, I mean exercise, this week. I am one pound off my target now :D

Thanks I'm not worried :D. I did put the detail through the SW website calculator and it said they were free, I only had 7 syns yesterday anyway so if I counted the syns for the small amount of breadcrumbs in them.

If I cooked the meatballs in a sauce then all the fat that came out of the balls would be in the sauce instead of nicely removed by the kitchen roll.

I'm not going to stress it, its my first week and I'm still learning, a sneaky peak at the scales tells me I've already lost 3lb in first 4 days (yeah yeah I know, I'm a serial scale stander :rotfl:)

Because its horrible stuff :p I think this is a common complaint, has always happened with mine whenever I've used it in the past, but seriously, consider replacing the use of fry light with a good quality non-stick pan which doesn't need anything, or using a few syns on a small amount of a decent oil - its much healthier than the rubbish in frylight. I use an olive oil in a spray bottle, which I think is 1/2 a syn per 3 squirts. Its one of the diet products which I really don't think are good for you in the long run - that and artificial sweetener.

I'm with you on both of those - I did get 2 fry lites at the start of my plan - the more I thought about it the more I won't be replacing them - I shall be using small measured amounts of my organic hemp oil when needed - I only have SW chips once a week and if I'm frying onion I just saute it in vecon or stock instead. I'm fairly anti artificial ingredients but did make a few allowances on starting SW as losing weight for me was important for me/health.

However my skin was so dry/flaky - I realised I was missing my essential fatty acids so am back on my hemp oil.

I also will not start using artificial sweetners - I personally think they are bad for the health, luckily I love water! I use agarve syrup to sweeten things and ad it as syns.

I've said to my consultant it may take me longer than some to lose weight but that is ok. Am not going to have anymore frylite spray and wont start artificial sweetners and am having my hemp oils shots when my skin needs them:rotfl:

Forgot to say stayed the same this week which is ok, moving from a morning weigh in back to evening ones I'd expected I'd weigh more but staying the same is good. Hopefully will be back on the weekly loss again from next week:)

  • My first day went ok (I think). I accidentally left my lunch at home today though  so had to rethink my original plan, but here is the final food plan which looks not too bad to me. I have entered it online and it hasn't told me off so that's a good sign! I went for an extra easy day. I know there should have been a lot more fruit/veg with every meal and will aim to include a lot more tomorrow.

Breakfast - weetabix (HEB), boiled egg
    Lunch - jacket potato, beans
    Dinner - chicken, potato, carrots
    snack - grapes
    syns - options drink - 2 syns

    HEA 350ml skimmed milk

Can someone please tell me, can syns be carried over onto other days, or is it a case of 'use it or lose it?' I havent long had my chicken dinner, so would be consuming extra syns for the sake of it now tonight as am full.

Ideally I would have liked a lot more food at lunch time, certainly some fruit and/or salad, but unfortunately only get half an hour for lunch so had to choose between the jacket potato van or the fruit and veg shop else I would have been late back to work. I did feel quite hungry though and was kicking myself for being so stupid. Have written myself a huge note on my front door now saying "have you remembered your lunch?" so I shouldn't go hungry tomorrow :D

Just wait til your clothes don't fit anymore! Slimming is definitely not cheap haha. I've been living in Sainsburys £10 jeans and my oversized tops until I get to target when I'll head out and get lots of new smaller clothes.

My clothes already don't fit, but they were getting too small not too big. Losing weight would be a great excuse to buy some new clothes :T. Sainsbury's jeans, here I come :rotfl:.

what brand do you use? i would like to move away from frylight too but i am too liberal when pouring oil out of a bottle!!
H007 get yourself a set of measuring spoons - and just measure 1 teaspoon or 1 tablespoon or whatever you are synning and stick to it - best things I bought that weren't edible :p when I started Slimming World!

VeryVery welcome, you sound like me a year ago ... I was convinced clothes were shrinking, it never occured to me it was me enlarging, and friends didn't mention it. But I am now more than 2.5 stones lighter, and that is from (I think) Feb 2010, so it's been slow but sure, averaging one pound a week until the last few weeks when it has strangely speeded up a bit :rotfl: Measure that milk, even though it is RED! And one thing to do is weigh out your favourite hard cheese into 28g portions and freeze them all in a bag, they will stay separate, and take out one portion when you need it. I don't think it would work with soft cheeses but I've not tried it. I'm sure you will enjoy the challenge of slimming world, I have! x
    :jThat's 2 stone 9 lbs gone forever:j

    thank you Slimming World!

Oh I forgot to say, at lunch the 3 blokes I work with all went to shops and got lovely sandwiches on white bread AND a huge portion of chips which they then shared out in the office  they offered me some but I turned them down and just concentrated on eating my soup! :D The smell almost killed me :rotfl:

I also forgot to say that I seem to have hurt my shoulder at the gym yesterday :( it's been killing me today. I have problems with it from a car crash few years back so I have to take care.

Oh and a 3rd thing, I got the new issue of Cook Vegetarian magazine today and was very pleasantly surprised to see that they had featured 6 SW recipes :D

Starting SW tomorrow couldn't come at a better time - got in the car after work tonight and split my trousers :o Ok, they were old, but I was soooo embarrassed! Good thing I didn't have an accident on the way home & have to get out of the car :o or worse still - split them while I was still in the office - right from crotch to knee on the inside seam.

I'm so stressing about what to have for dinner - if I was on my own it wouldn't be so bad but for some reason hubby makes everything go wrong! I'm now out for nearly 12 hours a day since moving house & can't get my head straight to plan anything! Doesn't help I'm trying to do a store cupboard challenge as the kitchen is overflowing seeing as we've moved into a smaller house.

Must go & have a look through the cupboards for dinner tomorrow & friday night!
