Hello all – I used to visit this forum quite a lot but have to say the past 3 months have been eventful to say the least and had let myself majorly fall off the wagon.

A little bit of background to me falling off the wagon in spectacular style – back at the end of November I had found out that I was pregnant. On the 20th Dec, I was admitted into hospital with acute stomach pains – they suspected an ectopic pregnancy. This wasn’t the case, as the scan showed baby had placed correctly so I was sent home. On the 21st, I was taken back into hospital where it transpired that I had appendicitis and was most likely my appendix was about to burst so was rushed into surgery. As I was pregnant, I had to have open surgery meaning a longer recovery time. Thankfully everything went well although I lost weight (I went down to 9st 5lbs – my original target weight) I was recovering well. Unfortunately at the end of January I lost my baby and have been munching for Scotland ever since. I feel okay about it –it wasn’t meant to be. Now I’ve just found out my beloved (almost) 16 year cat has got a tumour in his mouth and it’s looking very likely he will be put down when we take him back to the vet at the end of this week.

I feel like I’m looking for excuses to eat now – I’m of the opinion that I should look after myself, but looking after myself isn’t munching pizzas or drinking a nice bottle of rioja. I’m up at 10st 2lbs now and most of the weight has crept on since the end of January (from 9st 5lbs). I’m at the point where I need to nip it in the bud or I’ll end up back at my starting weight (12st 7lbs) or beyond.

Sorry for the big long post but want to get my mind straight and re-start my journey. Hope to all catch up on how you’re getting on over the next few days/weeks/months. :)

Yoemma - posting back on here is the first step in the right direction for getting back on track. No one will blame you for falling off the wagon considering what you have been and are going through ((hugs)). Maybe a good start would be to plan some meals for the week even if you snack in between meals it will be a start and will help get your mind focused. Dizzy will slow down the tank and we will all help you climb back on when you are ready.

  • Oh Emma, you've had it rough these past months, I'm so sorry :(

The only way to think about your cat is that he had 16 fabulous years of being loved by you and it's a good age for a cat too, nevertheless, it's very sad and you will miss him terribly.

You do need to look after yourself, eat well and keep up the energy levels and come on here as often as you like to offload :)

  • Dizzy, it's all coming together by the sounds of it - sorry about the unintended pun :o Best of luck for picking up a cancellation :j

Welcome to Gerturdeanna. Your menu for the day looks great, I'm sure tomorrow you'll get your reward at weigh-in :D

Hmm, I'm afraid low carb wouldn't work for me at all, I'm a carb-junkie :rotfl:

I can't get my head round any 'diet' plan that lets you eat the fat from meat - there's nothing in it that benefits the body at all, how can it be right?

I was a carb junkie but giving up tates, pasta, rice and bread wasn't that much of a trial. Never ate much of it anyway so not a problem really.

Eating the fat from meat is what keeps you feeling full longer. Whole natural foods are the order of the day. Too many people latched on to the first 2 weeks of induction when you could eat unlimited meat and fats but limited veggies and salad. I never told my Dr that I was doing Atkins - I called it low glycemic and that was ok.:rotfl:

One thing I have learned is that not all diets work for everyone and if one that used to work is no longer working then you have tweaked it a tweak too far

I am 6 weeks into Slimming world and 18lbs down and sticking to the plan like glue - no abuse of syns here for the time being ;)

And nor am I having sweet stuff like options and deffo no crisps :A

Thank you Lisa & Majjak much appreciated!! I will get more veg down me. To be honest we usually have 2 veg with our meals but the cabbage was so huge we couldnt get a second on the plate, and I do love cabbage yummmmmm. Also I always sleep in till late at weekends, so would a banana suffice when i got up, and then I could eat my lunch an hour later? Or do I need to start getting up early? Please say I can lie in hahaha.
whoa! you're not at boarding school so you can have your meals whenever you want, just don't skip 'em! Breakfast is just what it says, Break Fast. You fast all night when sleeping (unless ur my sil who gets up for a nosh in the night!) then you break your fast when you get up! :D

    Afternoon all :)

Well today is my first day following the plan and im really suprised at just how much less i have picking at things, ive felt full all day! I don't normally have a lunch if i have a breakfast, but ive made a concious effort to today so today goes like this..

B....Banana, pear, apple and grapes covered in a mullerlight yogurt
L....small jacket potato with beans and a lettuce and grated carrot side salad
D....Shepards pie with broccoli, carrots and sprouts (added cheese to the mash from my allowence)

the problem im having is using my syns....I still have them all to use and im not really sure how im going to use them as i know ill be full for the evening after my dinner lol. My biggest problem is i never eat enough, but then the things i did eat were the wrong things lol.
You could use up syns by putting butter and/or cheese on your jacket potato, and on the shepherds pie, or put some proper mayo onto your salad. There's all sorts of ways if you don't want to use 'em on choc or booze.

i know, he's lucky to have been here so long. i've had him since i was 9 and he was always the family pet but came with me when i moved house. my other cat is so confused why his buddy is so unwell. but he's loved and comfortable just now so that's all i can ask for.

i keep doing a disappearing act but this time is for the last time - i'm not going anywhere :)
