Options (the powder) are lovely stirred into either quark (which is a bit thick) or into plain yogurt - heaven! I usually only use half a sachet too.

    Hi,
I bought some options packets in my last shop but they are liquid ones can i still use them?

Scrap that ....just opened one and its pwder in the sachets it just feels like a liquid!!! I have put it in the quark, think it may take a bit of getting used to

  • Ugh I made my macaroni pie and it was crap :( I still ate half of it lol

I am going to console myself by trying to make a 'panfake' (sweet omelette!) with strawberries and light squirty cream, will let you know how that goes!

I came accross 2 recipies on facebook that I am going to try, using silken tofu, a chocolate pud and a baked cheese cake type thing.
You can buy it in ASDA, not sure where else though x

    chocolate mousse - http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=492931655666&set=o.2250349716&theater#!/photo.php?fbid=136633569732395&set=o.2250349716&theater&pid=257736&id=100001572588951
4 syns for the whole lot

    i box silken tofu
    1/2 cup sweetener
    4 tblsp cocoa powder
    ...
then just blend till mixed in

Baked tofu, chocolate & peanut butter tart with scan bran -http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=492931655666&set=o.2250349716&theater
    Serves 4 @3 1/2 syns each

    Ingeredents
    1 box silken tofu
...5 scan bran finely chopped/blended(5 syns)
    1 TBS golden syrup(2 1/2)
    2 TBS boiling water
    2 TBS cocoa powder(2 syns)
    1 TBS peanut butter(4 syns)
    8 ish TBS sweetner

1, Place golden syrup into microwave for 30 seconds till runny.
Then add along with the water to the scan bran and mix throughly.
Then add the mix to a frylighted tin or pirex dish and flatten as much as possible. Then place in a preheated oven on gas mk 5 for 10 mins.
2, while base is cooking blened 1/2 the tofu with 4-6 TBS of sweetner and the 2 tbs of cocoa, blen untill no lumps and goes all silk like, then place to one side and repeat with the other half tofu, sweetner & peanut butter blending again untill no lumps and goes all smoth.
3, remove base from oven and top with chocolate mix first, when all mix is on bang it lightly on the worktop to release any air pockets.
Then top with the peanut butter mix and again bang slightly to release air pockets.
4, place back into the preheated oven on the gas mk 5 still for 30-40 mins or untill top looks compleatly set then remove from oven.
5, leave to cool & chill for at least 1 hour before serving with any fruit of your choice and maybe some anchor light( 1 syn for 12 1/2g)
Whole cake works out at 13 1/2 syns
  • Ok so the panfake was ok, I just used 1 egg, seperated it and mixed a small bit of the yolk with the white, added sweetner and vanilla flavouring, fried and served with strawberries and light quirty cream (0.5syn), it did hit the spot for something that was virtually syn free.
  • I also bought some custard powder as i thought they were low in syns but I am confused as to how many are in each packet of

Birds low fat instant custard 75g

    and

    Tesco Value Instant custard powder

I tried to have a look on the syns calculator but syns ranged from 16-3???

Can any one help with this please, Thanks

Wow, it is absolutely delicious. Tastes like a very decadent dessert but is 4.5 syns for a big portion (if you don't syn the fruit, which I know isn't the official SW line).

Gave it to my family at the end of a special meal, so divided between seven of us (roughly 3 syns each). It was absolutely lovely, they are all "foodies" and they loved it.

    Evening all,

I've been a bit absent for a few days, sorry, but I've been busy doing lots of planning & research. I've just spent half an hour or so catching up on the last 10 pages or so.

Welcome to newbies. Cranky, we're about the same age, and I was widowed in 2004 with a young family, so kinda know where you may be at IYKWIM. I've been trying to lose, and keep off my baby weight for the past 10 years or so now. This is year I'm going to crack it once and for all.

I've had a few naughty treats in the past few days, but have tried to balance them out by eating well inbetween.

Thursday I had a Thai meal out for a friend's birthday. I had a green curry with steamed rice, and 3 things from a starter selection (2 mini spring rolls & a piece of satay chicken). No idea what that will have cost me in syns, but the rest of the day I was pretty good, and no other syns.

    Yesterday was: Green
B - FF activia, blueberries, nectarine
L - bacon, mushrooms, eggs, beans, 1 slice w/m bread [heb]
D - baked potato, beans, 42g cheese [hea], mixed salad
Snacks - Fibre Plus bar [heb]
    Milk in teas [hea]

    Today : Red
B - nectarine, shape dessert 5.5 syns, banana
L - Mcdonalds!!!! Let's call it 35 syns to be realistically on the safe side.
D - H/m pizza, small piece - wholemeal bread dough [heb], tomatoes, mushrooms, peppers, onions, garlic, ham, chicken, l/f mozzarella & cheddar [hea] with mixed salad

I ended up having the Mcdonalds because I went out with my OH and Stepson to the auto jumble, and they always have one on the way back home. I was going to have just a coffee, but we'd been walking around for a couple of hours or more in the wind, and I was hungry and cold (and desperate for a wee!). It would have been sooooo hard to sit and just watch them eat, and I know a nugget happy meal would have been better, but I can't touch any chicken meal from there because it gives me the heebie geebies! I know, I'm weird!

Tomorrow I'm back in the gym again, and did manage 3 sessions last week too. I'm going to do an extra intense cardio session, followed by a full weights and abs session. I know any indulgences don't usually show up on the scales for up to a week or so anyway, so hopefully I'll be counteracting anything bad. It's unusual for me to have eaten out at 2 fairly indulgent places in one week anyway, so not likely to be repeated often.

The h/m pizza was a real hit with the family, and there was lots left over, as I did the base really thin. That's resolved the issue of tea for the family when me and little Sary are at SW class tomorrow night.

    Have a great week everyone.
One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing

Be nice to your children, they'll choose your care home
  • Possibly, but then you would need to take it out and defrost it, or maybe it would defrost and cook quicker? lol
I was thinking just pouring boiling water over it would do it! I'll give it a try and report back, thanks for giving me the idea.

    thank you Slimming World!

I tried that and found it needed sweetener adding (and I don't even like sweet stuff much, but I just had a longing and found that hit the spot nicely!)

  • Well I hadn't recovered from the tummy bug thingy this morning as I had hoped. I'm not quite sure what I should/shouldn't be eating with a dodgy (but thankfully today not upset) tum - its just gurgly and sore - any ideas? I thought abut starving meself for a day but then I had a dizzy spell and decided food was probably going to help prevent me falling down the stairs! ;) So a day of eating carefully ended up looking like this:

Copious amounts of water with fresh lime juice in, and "stomach ease" herbal tea.
Plain pasta, with egg mayo (3)
    250ml smoothie (guess 7 syns)
plain omlette, with plain rice and vegetables (out of those steam fresh bags, which I duly took the herb butter out of. Again.)
    yoghurt and blueberries

Well, at least its been on plan (if you forgive the lack of healthy extras!).

I just have no idea what upset my stomach???
