Oooohhhhh sounds delish! Do you have a recipe you could share for the balti mushrooms and the spiced rice please?
well the courgette curry, rice and lentil saag came out lovely. however the balti mushrooms were left on the heat too long and the fromage frais split.
also the onion bharjis were pretty rubbish - i really dont think there is a nice tasting healthy alternative to them!!

Balti Mushrooms in a Creamy Sauce

Syns per Serving | Green & Original - Syn Free
    Servings | 4

    Ingredients
    - 340gm (12oz) button mushrooms
    - Fry Light
    - 1 bay leaf
    - 3 garlic cloves, roughly chopped
    - 2 green chillies, seeded and chopped
    - 227gm (8oz) very low fat fromage frais
    - 1tbsp chopped fresh mint
    - 1tbsp chopped fresh coriander
    - 1tsp salt
    - fresh mint and coriander leaves, to garnish

    Method
    1. Cut the mushrooms in half, or in quarters if large, and set aside.

    2. Heat a wok or heavy-based frying pan sprayed with Fry Light, then add the bay leaf, garlic and chillies and quickly stir-fry for about 1 minute.

    3. Add the mushrooms. Stir-fry for another 2 minutes.

    4. Remove from the heat and stir in the fromage frais followed by the mint, coriander and salt. Return to the heat and stir-fry gently for 2-3 minutes, then transfer to a warmed serving dish and garnish with mint and coriander leaves.

    Spiced Rice

    Basmanti rice
    vegetable stock
    pinch of tumeric
    cinnamon stick

    1. add 1 part rice to 2 parts veg stock, add the pinch of tumeric and cinnamon stick
    2. simmer for 8-10 mins
    3. leave covered for another 10 minutes

i have found that the rice makes a nice breakfast when cold too :p

  • Thank you Primmer and Ali, I have just looked at the pounds shed by Primmer and yes I feel much better now, I am holding out for a bigger loss next week.
I will try and have more sins each day, I kind of find it hard to find syns to eat. My meals again today have no syns, so I might have a creme egg tonight cos they are one thing that keeps catching my eye in shops :) I also might use some syns up each day with a glass of wine, cos I do miss alcohol, I am just so hooked on this diet and trying to do everything so good, the guilt of having anything bad has been stopping me :)
    Thank you all once again.
PS How do I put my weight loss at the bottom of my posts??

    xx

    Good afternoon lovely people :D

Hope everyone is on the mend , well done to those with losses too :T
Its still soooooo windy n manky here *thrrrrp* so no walk for me this morning ..on the upsy though we nipped to the naffi -where hubby won €500 on the slot machine -so Im now €150 better off -bless his ickle socks.... and he has €150 and the other will cover fuel for the car this month and his mess bill :D
I have put my 75 x €2 coins in a jar until something catches my eye .....
Anyhoo -I got some whoopsies in the naffi -so I have just made a remoska of chilli for hubby (should do 4 servings) , there is 1200g of beef diced up and in the slow cooker with onions n carrots for lunch tomorrow and some for later in the week ..... then I need to prepare the 2kg of nobbies and the cauli and get it into the stay fresh bags -ooh and I have somehow *not quite sure how* managed to wedge 4 packs of roast sliced pork in the freezer :p....
Yesterday I topped up my activia intensley's -so I now have 30 again :p ooh and ruby grapefruits were on promotion at 99c for 12 :j so I have 24 + 6 I allready had :rotfl:... ooh ooh and I got my tinned lentils and frozen peppers so i can make my big vat of trumpy stew tomorrow -nomnomnom -if I can wedge it in one of the fridges, not holding my breath mind ..

Well folks my meal plan is a bit wonky again today as we went out which meant no brekkie etc .... so here is what it should look like...
    • 250ml semi (A)
    • 3 slices thin cut roast beef -in car on way home
    • apple
    • 2 slices boiled ham
    • activia (2.5)
    • grapefruit
    • thai salmon (1)
    • tickled veggies
    • frozen raspberries
    • activia (2.5)
    • fibre plu bar (B)
    • 250ml semi (6)
Hmmmm not great -but not naughty either.. and at least I have covered my 1A+B and 12 syns :D and Im sure I may well stuff a bit more fruit in there somewhere ;)
Well its weigh in for me in the morning and even though I haven't been OFF plan Im aware that I probably haven't eaten as much as I should..but I have finally learnt that I don't have to eat if Im not hungry (quite a revelation that is ;))..oooh and there has been a distinc lack of exercise this week too :o -so we will just have to wait n see what the result is!
Right I had better get off and do my meal plan ready for next week.... have a lovely day everyone and keep at it
    -6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.5
  • Hi all, just joined slimming world online. Reading through all your posts is inspiring me, Am 12 st 7. want to get to 11 stone by my wedding in the middle of April. Do you think this is possible or am i being unrealistic?
Also can i ask a really stupid question i'm confused by the syns calculator? - Not sure i understand the package portion size bit? I'm probably being dull. But if i choose the per 100g option. What do i put in the protion package size box. Do i put the percentage of a 100g that i plan to eat? Eg a pack of 4 chorizo sausage is 250g. the nutrition details are per 100g so i put in cals etc then if i want to eat two sausages do i put 125g in this box? Sorry you are probably all thinking its really obvious but i'm haveing abarin freeze.
    Thanks

    :eek:where are my manners today:o

welcome to the madhouse cranky smiley-greet013.gifsorry to read about your loss hun, hope you have a great SW journey.....there is always a spare seat on the dizzy SW tank wagon if you need it (I even provide superglue:D)

susiebear to put your weight loss in at the bottom you go to 'quick links' at the top right of the page....then 'edit signature' ;)
  • I think that the people who decide the rugby kick off times should think of us people on diets - 5pm KO today means "dinner" at 4.15 followed by to many beers I fear :o...

The plan is to have a very generous helping of dinner which should stop me attacking the crisps one of our mates is sure to get and put on the table for everyone, and to try and drink some water as well as beer,.. and then hide the cheese and toast when we get back and eat the second helping of "dinner" if I am still hungry..

I hope I will be reporting back 100% success tomorrow (including a scotland win but that might be pushing it to much!!)

    Hi folks!

    Today's plan

    B - fruit salad & mullerlight

L - 4 ryvita and 4 laughing cow light triangles (HEA & HEB), two slices ham.

D - Planning to make meatballs from turkey mince & veggies blitzed in the food processor and either fried with frylight or popped in the oven. Will make a tomatoey sauce to go with and maybe rice.

Snack - mugshot (not really enjoying these so will prob not buy more), nescafe mocha sachet (4.5syns)

I can see I need to add some fruit/veg to today's food. Just not in the mood really for eating :(

Hi everyone. I rejoined SW last week as I am needing to start eating healthier and get to a healthy weight. My Mum died just before xmas and after that Ive just been eating anything and everything.

I feel back on track now though. Thanks to this board and the one on FB Ive got some good ideas for meals. Have made a pot of Dyno Rod soup today. How long will it keep in the fridge? I was naughty at lunchtime and had a sausage roll though. Breakfast was scrambled egg and mushrooms on 2 small slices of wholemeal. Tommorow Im making the Diet coke chicken.

My only worry is I have lunch in the restaraunt at work. They always have a curry on so tend to have that with a small portion of rice. Thats 3 days a week.

Oh and Im trying to drink more water too.

Welcome to the thread :D and yes you are correct thats exactly what you do.

So you want to lose 21lb in about 7 weeks, it all depends on you I guess but I would imagine you're more likely to manage 14lbs in that time if you're lucky. As you've not got a huge amount to lose the chances are your weight loss will be slowish, its not a race, as long as you get off to a good start then you can carry on after you return from your honeymoon (assuming you're having one).
