Thank you for your very honest assessment Flat Eric.
Before I started on SW I spent a long time weaning myself off the habit of treating myself to a glass (or more) of wine every day. It had just crept in as part of my lifestyle but was very difficult to change. I suppose it was my way of signalling work is over, now I'm having some 'me' time. Others seem to sit of an evening and eat crisps or take-aways or chocolate. The parallels of making wise choices are remarkable. It's not knowing what to do, it's making sure you do it that's so hard. I must say however that I find it so much it is easier to buy syn-free drinks when I'm out than food. I eat out quite often and have been amazed at the dried up offerings that many places serve as jackets and the tasteless bits of tomato and iceberg that are considered a side salad.
Hope everyone's having a good Saturday.:)
OMG Maman - you must be psychic!
I was just this minute thinking of the exact thing myself! Over the past 2 weeks since I started on this plan the hardest thing for me is to count up how many syns I reserve for my glass of wine! I realised before I started that 1-2 glasses of wine 4-5 nights a week was probably a big factor in my weight problem but only when I now write down what everything counts has the penny has dropped ... the beloved red vino has got to go!
I'm not saying I won't have a glass or two on a weekend but mid-week I've got to find something else. Because, let's admit it ... it's not just the glass of wine ... it's the cracker and cheese or packet of crisps that quite often go with it
The good thing about this 'new' style slimming world is it is making me look at food and alcohol in a different way ... when I have tried SW before I looked at it as just green day, red day, eat as much as I can of the free stuff. Now I think, protein, carbs and at least one third super free veg. Even though my weight loss is slowish this has got to be a good thing!
Unfortunately this isn't the best of day's for me to have this lightbulb moment - I'm off out tonight with the girls for a curry :rotfl:I only go out about once or twice a year so I'm not going to let it get to me but I will certainly be more conscious of what I'm eating and drinking.
Today looks like this:
B: Bacon, mushrooms, poached egg, baked beans
L: HM soup is simmering away (Butternut squash, leek, onion, carrots, chilli, chilli powder, veg stock)
The curry house we are going to tonight does a good selection of fish dishes so I'm going to try and work out the damage of one of those. Otherwise I'm going to have a chicken rogan josh with boiled rice.
2 glasses of wine on Thurday night and 2 glasses of wine last night has already made a BIG dent in my sins allowance so after tonight I am going to be positively angelic until weigh in on Thursday morning :A
Have a good weekend everyone!

Is there anything that can help it? or anything I should avoid?

There are some forms of vestibular exercises that you can do called 'brandt daroff' ....if you google this you will find some info. But while you are spinning badly I dont think they will help so muchI always found it best to just lay/sit as still as possible with no sudden head movements and focus on one specific point on the wall until the spin has stopped. also are you feeling sick with it?? if so you can buy some little wrist bands from boots or big supermarkets with a chemists called 'seabands' they work on the accupunture points and stop the messages to your brain making you want to throw up- I still use these now and they are very good. quite dear at £8 but worth every penny.
Oh and cutting down on salt can help, and def dont try driving !! dont know if ive been much help really, just hope it clears up quickly for you hun cos its very very nastyx x x

I feel for both of you, I only have occasional dizziness - sometimes in the day (middle ear infection)and sometimes turning over in bed at night (benign positional vertigo - with a vestibular in there somewhere) and it's more debilitating than anyone can imagine. Like being drunk without having a drink, which is a bummer.
.
Oooh Blackers I never knew you were and old drunk too like me:rotfl::rotfl:all joking aside its pretty horrendous....especially when the carpet and walls are moving around aswell huh, kind of like trying to walk in one of those fun houses that they used to have at the fairIve lost count of the amount of nights I thought I was falling out of bed and spent all night gripping the quilt with white knuckles.....and sleeping with sick buckets *sigh* BUT minus my dodgy ear from the neuroma the spins are now only when the team at physio create them (which is sooooo much better than life as it was before:p) I can cope with being a dizzy cow part time I reckon :T:D;)

I peeked on the scales this morning (have no clue why!) and it said 5lb off from 2 days ago, either this is a fluke or I had a massive amount of water retention! I have been drinking green tea the past 2 days so that may be getting rid of any water. However the official reading will be next Thursday so I won't get too excited just yet!
Welcome back from your Hols Trixie I knew you would love it.........its pretty wonderful in that area eh? thats why weve been back 4 times now
I bet some of the gain was water....when I get off the plane I always have legs like an elephant and dont pee for a few hours after (TMI??) Heres hoping you have a wonderful result on the scales on official WI day :A x x

Hi slimmers, well my first week is over and weighed myself and have lost 2lb. I have been so good on the extra easy diet and expected more of a loss to be honest, happy to lose but disappointed it wasn't more. The last few days I only had 1/2 a sin each day, and before that I only got to 15 once in the week. I just feel guilty eating up my syns, and hoping if I don't I will lose that bit more. I havent gone hungry though, I have eated lots of fruit and veggies and meats, fish etc throughout the week, I guess I didn't really need to eat anything else.
I am wondering though if red/green days are the way to go??? Does anyone think more weight can be lost following these days rather than extra easy? I haven't really learnt that way yet, but intend on looking into it. Id rather stay on EE but if you all think red/green will help me lose more, please let me know and it will be worth trying
Also I am roasting a chicken tomorrow for SUnday lunch, was thinking of making chicken & veg soup am I ok to boil the carcuss for stock if I remove all the skin, or do you think this will add syns to it?
I know I don't post often, but I read all the time, and you lot have kept me going this week, so I want to thank you all for helping me in my first week of SW xxxxxxx0 -
Susie - dont be disappointed with 2lb loss that's fantastic! At class our consultant has a piece of squishy stuff that weighs 2lb which she hands round at class and suprisingly it's heavy and big. Losses of 2pm are week are more likely to stay off and is recommended over huge quick weight loss. I do EE and have lost just under stone and half which I am happy with. I would recommend that you try to have about 10 syns a day so that when you get near target and weight loss slows you have something to cut down on. Also as strange as it seems I lose more on weeks where I have my syns rather than weeks where have hardly any syns.0

Morning all. Some fab and honest posts here from our target members. I've been to target too (now years ago!
). Achieving target for me didn't mean I had magically cracked healthy eating and was an angel - far from it - I am now in the obese category and still I know about healthy eating and practice it 90% of the time - its just the other 10% which I need to get a little less windly synful...
Our target members are still only human, and in many ways face a greater challenge, which I think Flat Eric explained very well.
My stomach gurgled most alarmingly through the night, so I'm pressing on with the detox today. I've had aloe vera juice, a pint of water with lime juice in it, a pint of smoothie, a banana and a clementine so far today. I'm just thinking about making myself a salad with something like rice in it because I'm quite hungry. Just off to google if plain white rice is recommended on detox or not as I can't remember!
I'm aiming for 24 hours of detox, and tomorrow we'll see - might do anothet day's detox, or might just aim for a healthy on plan SW day with minimal processed carp.Nothing tastes as good as riding a horse feels0 -

Susiebear - just wanted to add I take inspiration from successful slimmers like Primmer ... take a look at her signature block ... she lost 2 lbs in the first week too!
Hope you don't mind me using you as an example Primmer

Wierd you say about driving cos my Doctor was adamant that I'm perfectly safe to drive. I drive a minibus for work (not every day) so I was very clear about asking whether this was ok to do and he said yes. I actually feel fine when I have been driving in past few weeks.
I have been feeling sick, but it's ok today, however if it comes again I will get those bands, my friend has them for travel sickness and says they help that.
I'm feeling better todayonly spinning when I inadvertantly tilt my head to the left.
I'm planning on making SW comfort food today to cheer me up, the weather is pants so I'm going to cook and chill out instead

If you feel perfectly safe driving....then fine, but what if you were to tip your head in the position that causes the spin? or for some reason your ear decides that it wants to suddenly change the position it throws a wobbly in?Just use your own judgement but I would be very careful just at the moment and avoid it for a few days if possible.
For me driving was a complete no no as my spins were a constant thing as my labyrinth was damaged through surgery so it was sending 'dodgy' signals to my brain (basically telling it e.g I was in positions I wasnt actually in and to react accorgingly-like fall down! IYKWIM)
You just look after yourself for a few days and *big hugs* x x0
