Thanks for the kind support , honestly feel like I should be paying you all ,lol.

well a small break through maybe ? I have sat down and gone through my whole food diary and found that the wholmeal rolls I have been counting as a B choice - maybe the wrong type :o.
I had 2 in the past week , they are ...
Tesco Healthy Living 6 wholemeal oatbran rolls 57g each, they work out at 6 syns each but not sure if they can be counted as a B choice ?

But I havent had alot of syns so surely it would counteract this fact ?

can someone help me work this out this please ...

I have decided to have some custard tonight and I have some sachets of Tesco Value Instant custard 70g.

I have been trying to work out their syn value and its driving me insane.

    The sachet says ...
    made up according to instructions

one third of pack per 100g
    (142g)
    energy 96kcal 65kcal
    protien 1.1g 0.8g
    carbs 19.2 13.5g
    fat 1.3g 0.9g

    Instructions to make ,
    empty sachet into measuring jug
and add boiling water up to the 425ml (3/4 pint) level.

so works out at 2.5 syns per 100g made up , is this right ?

I just made it up and pured into a bowl and it weighs 200g.

    surely this isnt right ?
5 syns the whole pack ?
    Kindness costs nothing :)

Hi Mirry, just checked on line, instant custard mix is 2 1/2 syns per 100g made up so looks like you are right! Mmmmmm banana custard .......
  • Had 2 slices of bacon today and didn't take the fat off. How rebellious?!!

How many syns shall I count it as?

    Cheers
  • Afternoon all :hello:

Wow, lots of pages to read today!! Congratulations to the losers & commiserations to the STS (myself included :o) & gainers - it will come off next week!! Also welcome to the newbies, lots of new peeps :D

g&b, hope your hubby is ok, could it be his appendix??

I feel a lot less hungry today, thank goodness. I don't know if it was just a psychological thing yesterday, I hate STS or gaining when I know I've stuck to plan :o So I did a fair bit of sulking & munching yesterday, but did manage to stay within plan & syns.

Think I might have a green day today

B - mushroom scrambled eggs (half HEA for splash of milk)
    L - 4 scanbrans (4) with 6 extra-light cheese triangles (HEA)
D - 2 quorn sausages, pasta & HM sauce, 21g light cheese (half HEA), pitta (HEB)

Will also have yog & fruit during the day plus a Fibre Plus later for my 2nd HEB, managed to get some more in Morrison's bogof deal & got a dark one to try. Remembered to look at the deal end date & then promptly forgot what it was but think it was either 8th or 13/14th February :o Also forgot to look if they sold white nimble, so sorry to whoever it was who was trying to track it down!!

Anyway, pasta again for dinner - I think I'm a bit addicted to my HM pasta sauce :o I don't want to eat it too often though because I don't want to suddently get fed up with it!! I know someone else said they were addicted to their thai green curry so not just me with an 'addictive' personality!! :rotfl:

Have a good SW day everyone

Good afternoon all cor blimey it is manky here today -absolutely tipping it down d'oh.gif -so no walking around the golf course or getting out for a trek for us today sigh.gif ..
Well done on the losses folks :j and hugs to those with gains - especially where unjustified... -they will be off again in no time ;)

Sary -I don't think that I "have" to have carbs to be on EE do I ? - last week was an experiment as Im normally red/green -but I have learnt to listen to my body and what it needs -so if I don't fancy/want something I don't.. I do make sure I have my A+B though.... when I look at my meal plan I guess it may explain why I got a 4lb loss on * week -because at least 2/3 of my plate is generally veggies -but that is how I tend to eat on red/green too-I love my veggies :p so my plan was possibly borderline "success express" as the syns I tend to use on milk/yoghurt so the syns are the same on all 3 plans so in theory I would be choosing the highest value -if that makes sense :rotfl:
Anyhoo -Im doing EE again this week, but I am finding that I don't seem to eat as much as I do on red/green even though I can if I want to ...Im also finding that I don't enjoy a lot of things I used to :rotfl:
Guns -hope you have heard from hubby by now, and that all is fine with him!!

We nipped out this morning as I need a milk, fruit, veg top up ooohh ooohh and water...
anyhoo I have some bread proving so hubby can have fresh baked bread n butter with his gammon and wedges tonigh wink.gif. I need to get the gammon joint on later and then I can turn the stock into soup tomorrow. This morning I made soup/sauce with some sorry looking tomatoes, peppers, leek and aubergine that want using up in the fridge...
    well here is todays plan:-

    1A+B and 12 syns
    • 250ml semi (A)
    • 28g oats (B)**
    • frozen berries
    • 1/2 grapefruit
    • mushpea curry
    • 1 ryvita **
    • frozen berries
    • activia (2.5)
    • 1/2 grapefruit
    • home boiled gammon
    • hm wedges (0.5)
    • lettuce
    • cucumber
    • tomatoes
    • pepper
    • beetroot
    • 250ml semi (6)
    • frozen berries
    • sf jelly (0.5)
    • activia (2.5)
    • lychees
Right -I had better get off .. have a great day everyone and keep at it.....

L - salmon and cream cheese sandwich (HEA, HEB + 6syns)
    D - cajun chicken salad
    S - fruit

It totally was not worth it!

right sorry dont wanna be a bearer of bad news but i dont think cream cheese counts as a HEA - it only counts as a HEB on green days.

I dont know why but i remember working it out when i had some philly to use. i dont think it has enough calcium to be a HEA - someone else might be able to chime in and clarify this hopefully.

MRSM i dont think you have to have carbs on a EE days but if you dont need them then you might as well have a Red day and have some more healthy extras...

so long as it's wholemeal it should be fine to be a B choice, it says 57g of any wholemeal bread.
Also tesco healthy living wholemeal roll is listed. not sure if it's the same type.

ps - that tesco value custard sounds good, will add that to my shopping list thanks!

the soup is still bubbling away, will update you on taste soon!

Thanks for the tip! I don't have my book with me so I was just guessing! I have checked on the website and 28g is 3.5syns (and there was nowhere near that amount). So that takes me to 9.5syns for the day so far, but with a HEA left to use.

  • Oooh MrsM, talking of gammon, do you think I could grill a slice from frozen, or it is better defrosted?

If I can do it from frozen, you may have just swayed me to have gammon and wedges today rather than previously planned dinner!

Doh - just checked the calories of the chocolates I've just munched - they work out at 2 syns each, not 1, and that means I've just munched on 14 syns worth!

Syn free rest of the day it is, then!

Thanks BettyB , glad the wholemeal rolls look ok ,
that means I have been a angel all week :A.

The custard tastes amazing and is lower syns than bird's.
Its a big portion size , still cant believe it :j. Been thinking of all sorts to put with it , banana yes , chocolate powder to turn it into a chocolate custard, and sprinkles on top maybe ?

I am gonna wipe the shelves at tesco this week :rotfl:.

Hi Betty -I normally do red/greens -just to get my 2A+Bs :p -last week was an experiment, but I enjoyed eating the way I ate -so Im giving it another week, it worked for me last week so I will se what happens this week... I can deal with 1B and I just buy extra milk with my syns...so in a round about kind of a way -it means I eat less as Im not struggling to use my syns ;) - I was begining to feel that on red days I was often eating just to use up healthy extras and my syns -I know it might sound bonkers to some -but as long as it works for me Im happy :D
