That looks lovely, must give it a try. A quick question about tomato puree: in this month's magazine there's a recipe for lamb burgers using tomato puree and it says the whole recipe is free on EE. Is that a mistake do you think? I've never really understood why passata is free yet a tbsp of puree is synned (inserts confused smilie), you're hardly likely to eat a whole tube??
No idea I'm afraid. The original recipe was syn free and didn't have any puree in it, but when I tasted it I thought it needed some, and synned it just in case. However, when I added two tbsp to a syn free bolognase that did 8 portions I didn't bother synning it (I don't count my syns in quarters!)
I don't have this week's magazine, but free lamb burgers sound really nice, so I might have to buy it tonight at WI. Also thinking of getting the EE cook book, does anyone else have it, and if so is it any good?:A If saving money is wrong, I don't want to be right. William Shatner

I'm really hoping so - I plan to do more of the cooking so I can make sure the superfree are being used as 1/3. It's not that I don't trust her in any way but sometimes it's easy for us to say 'I dont fancy veg' with the food so I can make sure that doesn't happen. She struggles to drink water at work because she is a nurse and the NHS are really awful to their staff - they're not allowed to drink on the ward for 'health and safety' reasons which is such crap.
I really hope she can get a loss this week even if it's small, she needs it for herself.
the world has gone mad with health & safety rules....but thats the craziest ive heard in ages!!
Have a look through the book & get her to do a week 'superspeeding' it just might give her the boost she needs to give her the willpower to carry on. The reason I make Dyno Rod soup so much is because
A) it helps with the meds I'm on stopping me getting bunged up (TMI :rotfl:)a bowl of that as a starter before a meal and I dont have to worry too much if I dont fancy veg WITH the meal
C) soooo many superspeed items in it!!0 -
Good idea Dizzy - what's the recipe for the Superspeed soup again?Whatever doesn't kill me, can only make me stronger.

Good idea Dizzy - what's the recipe for the Superspeed soup again?
1 can green lentils
2 can chopped tomatoes
1 can baked beans
handful of split lentils
2 large leeks
1 large onion
4 medium carrots
2 parsnips
1 green, red and yellow pepper
2 veg stock cubes
salt & Pepper
Mixed herbs
water (enough to cover all ingredients)
You need a pretty massive pan, and just bring it all to the boil, and then simmer until all the veg is soft, and the lentils are done. I find that the beans/lentils do sink, and then can stick to the bottom & get a bit burnt, so it isn't one you can just ignore for hours. But the occasional stir should keep it ok.
When it's done, some people blend it, some keep it chunky. It really doesn't matter.
However I don't always stick to the recipe exactly. It depends on what I've got in.
I don't usually use parsnips, as I eat plenty of parsnips anyway, and they're not actually a speed food. I usually add celery instead.
And if I happen to have some different beans, then they go in too.
Tis really nice,yo;)u can add a bit of chilli if you like spicy things too

Dizzy,
How many portions does the superspeed soup make? Presumably you can freeze it?:A If saving money is wrong, I don't want to be right. William Shatner

Tescos are doing the fibre plus bars and the alpen light bars as 3 for 2 - fibre plus are £1.89 per box so not saving as much as Morrisons - but if it is closer it might help!
Alpen lights are £1.69 per box0 -
Hello all, Just checking in with everybody. Not feeling 100% today (although aunt flo doesn't actually visit me anymore she still makes me feel grotty once a month) but I'm still plodding along and hoping my scales will be kind to me come Monday. I was all geared up for an Aqua fit class ( kill or cure, the way I'm feeling!) and when I got there it had been cancelled which was a bit annoying but apparently the instructor was off sick, so 'one of those things', heyho. On we go.When Life Throws You Lemons Make Lemonade0

I bought the fibreplus bars on 342 at Tesco's last night - every little helps
WI tonight and I'm terrified - I always do really badly in my 2nd week of SW - I don't know why and I don't think I've lost anything this time eitherI did have a picky weekend but I've saved nearly 30 syns since so that should have more than covered it.
Jut printed out the recipe for the speed soup - will be making this when OH is away next week:rotfl: We had the beef & veg chilli from the booklet with the latest magazine last night - VERY GOOD and full of 1/3 superfree foods!
