Hi all - I'm joining this thread (if it's ok!!) for inspiration (fabulous weight losses all round!)
I was particularly inspired by Consultant's sentance - that if you stick to a plan (any plan) 100% then it'll work. This has been my problem in the past - mixing and matching different plans (and not giving up my wine or even counting it!!) and then not seeing any weight loss *shocker*!!
So I've got my books out again and I've got the magazine and I'm going to cook some delicious food for my family!! My only "issue" is lunches - I don't want to do sandwiches and I don't have a fridge at work...so I'm going to have to look into that a bit....any advice most greatfully received!!0 -
Hi Mrs M - I just read out your food list to my OH to show how much you can eat and still lose mega weight, and noticed you didn't syn the single cream. I can't believe I am telling our star slimmer stuff but thought you would like to know!!
xNO EXCUSES - THIS YEAR IT'S PERSONAL..........0 -

Welcome! You can just turn up! The consultant should be there to welcome you and there will probably be a new member table set up. I think my consultant is planning on devoting the whole of our session this week to new members as post xmas there are a lot of new people.
Membership to SW I believe is around £10, and you pay £4.95 a week so it will cost you £15 ish for your first session. However like others have said there are a few deals in magazines at the moment but I can't remember which ones. I think these will get you £5 off membership.flutterbyuk25 wrote: »Woo did my at home WI and I've lost 2.5lbs this week (well 5 days actually as I WI'd last Weds after xmas!) :j. Pleased with that
Does anyone here drink green tea? If so does it 'aid' weight loss in anyway? Or are there any other benefits to drinking it? I was given a free box recently, and I hate tea normally (I'm a coffee gal) but I tried it and it was just about tolerable to drink. So wondered if there was a benefit to one or 2 cups a day.

Well done flutterby! Some people in my group swear by green tea, and I actually have some green tea tablets from holland and barrett (long story, I didn't voluntarily buy them but will use them since I have them). I find that they are a diuretic and also encourage my digestive system alongso I only have 1 tablet a week and not the 2 tablets a day that they say to take! I'm sure it's different if you drink the tea properly but I find that I drink more water which is obviously a good thing.
It's a tough thing to research and get accurate information on, as there are a few obvious advocates of green tea which claim that it suppresses appetite and increases your metabolism and others that claim it's "not water weight" that you lose and don't mention that it's a diuretic but other sites say that it is a diuretic.
So personally I think it helps, but you need to judge it for yourself really, just make sure you drink plenty of water as you will likely go to the toilet a lot :rotfl:0 -
I understand what you're saying re the ricotta as a HEB for protein on the green plan, but if it can be counted as a HEA on any plan, why is it not listed? I like soft cheese and would use it as a HEA if I could!
I don't think ricotta can be used as a HEA.Hi Mrs M - I just read out your food list to my OH to show how much you can eat and still lose mega weight, and noticed you didn't syn the single cream. I can't believe I am telling our star slimmer stuff but thought you would like to know!!

I think she's syned it under the sauce heading but helpfully put down the ingredients for it. It sounds lovely and pretty low in syns!
mushroom/peppercorn sauce (3)
loads of mushrooms
onions
single cream
crushed peppercorns0 -
I don't think ricotta can be used as a HEA.
Lil_Me - that's what I thought 'cos it's not listed as a HEA but Circes posted that it could be used as a HEA on any plan! Just when I think I'm getting to grips with this I get confused again!:oA diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit!:rotfl:

Hi everyone! I'm heading back over here because well, I'm at the heaviest I've ever been and I really don't like it! So slimming world to the rescue! A quick question for you all, anyone know of a goulash and dumplings recipe that is SW friendly? The fiance (that's right I got engaged in December so now need to lose weight for a wedding dress!) loved it so much in Prague that he wants me to cook it for him next week!Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20170

Well there is a recipe for Ricotta Stuffed chicken on the SW website and it's as follows -
Syns per serving:
EE 4
Red 4
Green 7*
(*Add 6 Syns if not using chicken as a Healthy Extra)
I would assume that they would mention if you can use the cheese as a HEA i.e Add x syns if not using cheese as a Healthy Extra0 -

Thank you teecee46! I'm rather excited yet daunted by the whole thing and well, this is the motivation I need to lose weight, I don't want to even try on a wedding dress till I'm 2 and a half stone lighter!Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20170 -

Yeuck how can you tolerate the stuff??Green tea is high in antioxidants, which go around hoovering up the nasties in your body, so enjoy your cup or two of green tea with pride that you are being nice to your body
And definately nicer to it than with the caffiene in coffee. If you enjoy it, maybe make a habit of having one or two less coffees a day and green tea instead. :T
Rubyeskimo - Congratulations :T you can enjoy a stew made with lean meat, vegetables and stock for free on Extra easy, and just count the syns in the dumplings you make.
Thread on miniminis about dumpling recipe ideas on SW:

Another thread on that site said 3 syns per 28g
Consultant31's recipe (from 5 years ago  gosh she's hung around here like a pleasant smell)

I'm sure I've seen a slimming world recipe for dumplings which used mashed potato, herbs and eggs, but I can't seem to find it now.
Me today:
Banana
Apple
Soup
Fibre plus (b)
Milk in t&c (a) (by the way, is there a guideline as to roughly how many brews you get for a healthy extra? I have never bothered to work it out)
Tonight: hopefully Gnocci (5 syns) baked with a tomato based sauce, and Cubes of butternut squash, with some cheese bubbling on top. I was also given some flavoured oils for Christmas which I can't wait to try out, so I'm going to splurge 6 syns (or a healthy B, haven't decided yet) on a tablespoon of either the garlic one or the chilli one drizzled over tonight's dinner. We'll probably have it with a salad. Can't wait, I think tea tonight sounds delish.
Oh, and MrsM - I think my request got lost in the ether, but please can you tell me how much gravy granuals you get for 0.5 syn, and the recipe for your mitned lamb. Thankies
Update: tea was nice, but I forgot to add the oil, so I made do with a scoop of ben and jerries (6.5) afterwards insteadNothing tastes as good as riding a horse feels0
