Cath- totally agree thats how a lot of money gets wasted- it feels a bit scary to have no card in my wallet tho! though quite what "emergency" Id need it for other than food shopping I dont know!
Aw mrtyoIm so sorry..... my creation looked so yummy I had to eat it!!
There is some chilli defrosting in the fridge for you today tho!(see I do feed you I promise!.....)
twinklie- thanks for sympathising with him! Hope you and belle are ok and enjoying yoru summer holidays - going to work in the summer makes me want to be a teacher (ie and have the summer off!) :rotfl:
No money spent so far today - just popping out to the shops on lunch break tho.... only £2 in my purse and thats it ....perhaps I shall buy a present for poor old mrtyo ....0 -
Be under no illusion is very exciting. I'm writing schemes of learning and making resources as we speak. It's very tragic. LOL.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

twinklie - you havent persuaded me! - working in the holiday, not for me :rotfl:
World appears to have gone mad at the moment all this rioting ....no idea what they think theyre even rioting for!! just causing a huge mess!
cooking a massive chilli to make the most of BOGOF mince at tesco - £2.20 for 800g not bad!
no other great moneysaving going on , very tired this week and still a bit achey and meh like so hoping I can catch up on some sleep with an early nite tonite and at the weekend!
hope everyone is ok and staying safe with the riots!0 -
Mornin all
Just drinking a 2nd cup of tea to wake up and catching up on some diaries!
Chilled weekend this weekend which will be lovely
2 sales on amazon this week and 1 more item listed total profit £7ish but better than nothing , £5 travel expenses paid off mortgage as an extra OP and have discovered I can make direct one off OPs from my bank account (not sure why I never worked that out before!) so am going with an idea that every month once bills/spending taken out I will OP the rest directly that way no temptations to spend it!Also anything going into that account as expenses/amazon sales (though running out of anything to sell!) tcb etc..will go direct as OPs so I wont miss it ....
Trying to focus on food shopping as an area to save as we have SO MUCH food in the house it will last forever! (or almost forever!!) Problem being there is a lot of repetition- ie. about 15 tins of tomatos and 12 tins of tune in the cupboards, 10 portions of chilli in the freezer but not much else etc... still I have (Im sad I know!) done an inventory of everything we have so we dont duplicate when going shopping and can meal plan around it only buying stuff to go with what we've already got! I think food shopping may be an area left that we can try and make savings /stick to budget as I find the spends creep up to nearer £150ish every month- still not bad and a whole load less than we probably were spending, but still, every little helps and all that!!
Have started thinking about *the 25th December*.... I know I shouldnt mention the "c" word in August, but I do LOVE it!!!... have been browsing all year for bargains/pressies, including having lots of stashed stuff that I bought in Jan sales this year (thanks to this site for that tip!) this has generally done me most of the bday presents throughout the year plus maybe adding some chocolates/wine on top - not sure how much Ive spent but definitely less than impulse buying last minute! I think I am probably only a few presents oustanding for the next few months so will reassess at that time whether some of my monthly savings on this can go towards OPing ... made the most of the 3 for £10 asda wine deals and bought about 9 bottles!! (incl some very nice ones and my favourite wine too!) ... one to party last week, one tonight with friends round but hoping I will save the rest for presents! not bad 9 bottles of wine for £30 and we dont tend to drink that much anyway so once Ive finished my fav's I shall ignore the rest!
No other moneysaving news as such , am getting my bum into gear with the wt loss/healthy eating - slowly but surely! and excited when in hopefully about 3 months time (to co-incide with the date that shall not be mentioned!) I will be able to wear all my clothes again!! theres quite alot of new stuff Ive bought/been given which I havent really been able to wear/feel comfortable in so I shall look forward to the experience of feeling like I own a whole new wardrobe!
plan for today: some cooking to use up leftovers in the fridge , am thinking egg mayo or cakes (eggs use by today) , chow mein/pizzas to use up the last of the veg at the bottom of the fridge, then need to pop out for just some milk, and do my exercise dvd before friends over for dinner tonite!! ahhhh perfect saturday0 -
You're organised. I've been thinking about a certain date, but not actually done anything.
If you don't feel like cooking, don't panic about your eggs... although it sounds like you are looking forward to it!
My eggs last waaaaay beyond their use by date, and if I'm ever in doubt I test them to see if they float in a glass of cold water. If they float, they get thrown out (they have gone rotten, generating gas which makes them float) and if they don't float I just use 'em.... touch wood, this test has always worked for me!Borrowed £150,000 in an offset tracker mortgage in May 2007 - MFD May 2041 (67)
