Hey BJD
Mostly freebies (and I use this for also things I may have to pay a pound or 2 for!) from grabbit (for vouchers- mostly free/cheap food!) and also the freebies no spend board- where you can often get bath stuff, toothpaste, little perfume samples etc.. nothing major but always nice to get something for nothing!
Proud of myself for small moneysaving as was craving takeaway tonite- not up for spending £15ish for one meal (am out for dinner tom so wouldnt even eat the leftovers!) so piled together some random ingredients and had pasta bake , crisps , and garlic bread (not great for the waistline but good for moneysaving! :rotfl:)0 -

What about mr tyo - did he get anythingA positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

:hello: hey gg!
he did indeed get fed!! better than me infact as he is out for dinner!! leftovers left too0 -
Mornin all!!
Long time no post for me....
Payday has come (thank goodness!)
have made £5.06 from amazon sales plus £16 expenses due from work...
also £8.98 sitting in tcb account! which'll be a bonus at some point!
Mrtyo being very MSE this weekend and doing some fairly major DIY stuff on our flat with his family (I am being helpful and providing food and cuppas every so often!) . Flat up for sale has had a few more viewings but no offers, have reduced price so will see if this works in the next month then may rent it out for a while again until market picks up ....not so keen on this option but also cannot afford to leave it empty much longer...!
In other moneysaving news this week have managed:
*dinner from fridge/freezer/family!
*bought "cheaper" takeaway on friday nite £5ish fishnchips vs £20ish on any other... (am scraping the barrel for this one I know! :rotfl:)
*looked into remortgaging if renting out flat (will make MSE decision on this one soon!)
*Eye test booked for next week to sort out cheaper contacts!
thats about it I think , have a load of veg to make into soup tomorrow and stuff for sausage casserole the following day! so all this weeks meals will also come from stores!0 -
Afternoon all!
Update now the 1st of the month has come/gone!
Mortgage now standing at £122, 181.47 , not taking savings into account at the mo as they have been slightly affected by some "emergencies" of the household appliance variety!
OP for this month £300
also made the grand total of £5.06 from amazon and £6 expenses from work,
Have been quite spendy at the same time though- mostly on stuff like coffees in lunch hour, drinks with friends, also some books from amazon 2 of which were great and Im glad I bought, the others not so much! ...seem to get a couple of days past payday having spent most if not all of my monthly "fun" money - usually though Ive started spending it a week or 10 days in "advance" of payday so that could also be why! Next month will be a bit spendy too as will need some new glasses (new prescription) /lenses
However, we have also done really well at saving this year and have been able to deal with big things in the house and car without any panick knowing we have the funds to deal with things in an emergency/at short notice, so that is good I think! Plus most months I am OPing/Saving (to emergency fund) in the region of about £500 p/m which isnt too bad I guess!
On the house-selling front , have had about 10 viewings since end of July when it went on market, no offers (even silly ones!) have put the price down and waiting to see what happens! Part of me wonders if we should rent it out again, but then seems the last few months of it being empty to sell are then a bit of a waste as I wouldnt want to sell with tennants in (wouldnt be fair to them but also imagine most people wont want to buy a flat with tennants still in!) . Renting out (given we have done it for the last 3 years almost too) seems a bit of a pain, but if we dont need the equity straight away , perhaps is the better decision financially?.. I like everything nice and simple- and will probably be the kind of granny that has her wordly possessions hidden under the bed :rotfl:!
In other news have been doing well at using up freezer/cupboard stuff this week and taking pack lunches to work! (now just need to cut out coffee shops!) need to have a big push to run down cupboards properly rather than just a little bit before hitting the supermarket again!
also got a couple of freebie shower/bath things through and some shampoo on the way! little things please me
have a good weekend in this gorgeous weather all x0 -
evenin all!
free baileys in the post today! plus a couple of £3.50 quality street tins stashed away for the date that shall not be mentioned but is in 12.5 weeks time :rotfl:
other than that attempting to keep spends down mainly by being "creative" with meal planning:
pizza and chips tomorrow, sausage casserole for the 2 nights after then after that itll be interesting! :rotfl:
another couple of viewings on flat this week- fingers and toes crossed pls!0 -
Evenin all
All go in tyo's household - some major diy work due!! not good for mrtyo as I am not the best at DIY! (btw this is an understatement :rotfl:)
Anyway...in MF news...
today I have...
packed lunch into work
picked up 2 free pizzas with vouchers and used £1 off £5 spend
eaten leftovers for dinner
filled in mileage claims for work
driven at 60 to try and save petrol
bought a spending diary
checked tcb £8.98 (nothing payable yet!)
(finished my xmas shopping except for mrtyo .... shhhh.....)
flat has a few more viewings so keeping fingers and toes crossed- though after the last 6 months have decided houses are neverendingmoneypits! ....am thinking of maybe building a hobbit house in the woods (I think a guy built one for about £3 grand!)

Major DIY - what are you having done? and yes they are never ending money pits
Fingers crossed for viewings, lots of people seem to having them guess its the "be in a house by Christmas rush"Mortgage Aug 12 £165K, Aug 19 £0
ISA challenge start 2019 £3000/£1500 (50%)0 -
Hey Radish
Let hope for the in by xmas plans!!
DIY is underway :rotfl:
Out for friends bday tonite and a roast tomorrow (I bought a lamb shoulder ... quite expensive eek!! gonna try and do a few meals out of it)
lots of house expenses going out at the moment, council tax for other flat and car tax due as well
ah well!...got a few bits to list on amazon may try and get around to that today !
Also- having done a mini inventory of our fridge/freezer stocks we have enough to last 32 days worth of meals !!! (this doesnt include tops up for bread/milk/fruit and will also need to buy one chicken but reckon could get all of that for under £15....in fact that shall be my goal! £15 food shopping until the 10th November!! ....we shall see how I get on with that one!) This is WITHOUT going into strange combinations of food and the really scraping the barrel cupboard finds of tinned hotdogs etc....
Somebody please ban me from the shops for the next month!!0 -
I am joining you on this one 3 freezers full of food and still the call of Waitrose has a terrible attraction for me. And as I did spend nearly £37 in that very shop yesterday so apart from milk that should be good until November 10th. The upgraded W******e in Newark is lovely and they haven't got the stocking right yet so there are bargains galore. But I do live alone so it is a bit unnecessary.0
