Firstly sorry to rake this up but I've been at work since my last post and wanted to reply.
Amilucky? I wasn't having a go at you at all there, if you think I was you've honestly misinterpreted me. I'm just increasingly fed up that no matter what suggestions we make someone always just says no I don't like that. No offering of help (apart from twotimes and crin after my mini strop yesterday) no suggestions of how to tweak ideas to make them work better, no saying well that's not great but it's a compromise and I could make it work, just no. Because of all the constant negativity I've just reached the point where I think that no matter what anyone suggests, no matter how big or small a compromise it is that someone will say no, point blank. And where I think that the only way around it is to just get Andrea to say right these are the rules and stick to them.
I wasn't saying your idea was rubbish and I don't like it. Not in the slightest. Like I said last night I think your idea definitely solves some of the problems that started this great big ugly mess. Like I also said last night, maybe it isn't ideal. But nothing is! If people will trial it I'm happy to give it a go. If people have a better or another suggestion I'm happy to give that a go too. I just want people to know where to post things, for comps to stop getting duped when they are in regulars just because some people think that's what's best without thinking of other people who use the board differently, no matter how few of them there are (we all follow the "rules" the rest of the time so I don't see the difference with regulars), and for this place to be a friendly place to be again.
I'm sorry if I upset anyone. It really wasn't my intention. I've just had enough, and I'm annoyed that a lot of people (not everyone) are so unwilling to give even an inch. We're all grown ups and this shouldn't be so difficult to sort out!0 -

First of all THANKYOU for posting such great comps - I will do the same in return once I get myself sorted! Anyway, I need your advice...- I use internet explorer with google toolbar and I use 'AutoFill' to complete entries (though it doesnt work everytime? For the forms it wont automatically complete is there a way I can say set up a system where, if I say, press a certain key and my full name will appear, and another which will make the first...second line of my address appear, email, phone number etc? If AutoFill doesnt work it is so annoying to have to fill in forms by typing in the info.... Any ideas would be GREATLY appreciated!:A
I recently was pointed in the direction of Roboform, a form filler that you can download. I have to say I would highly reccommend it. And you can get a free trial of the full version before you have to pay for it to see what you think. Even when you do have to pay it's not much and worth every penny IMHO. Whatever you do, good luck0 -
a brillant thank you Purplecatlover
it worked ................didn't understand what that was used for or how
thank you for taking the time to explain and put me right0 -
...
I think most if not all the people that comp from regulars just comp from the stickies rather than going down the whole board every time.
...
Having two boards seems to cause a lot of confusion with dupes and if as I believe & your post suggests, the vast majority of compers don't use the individual threads in regulars, it means there's a large number of compers missing out of competitions because they're tucked away on the regulars board where they're only viewed by a small number of people.
Having all competitions posted on the main board would seem to solve the majority of issues we're having at the moment:
- no confusion over which board new comps should be posted,
- no accidental duping,
- no need to create extra linking threads,
- everyone gets to see all competitions
and with the ongoing help of the lovely volunteers doing the stickies :A, regular compers can keep track of their dailies, weeklies & monthlies.2017 Wins: £200 (Total since 2008: £43,827!)Best wins: £5000 with ITV , Trips to New York fashion week/Malta/Lake Como/Paris/London/St Mellion spa, iPhones, iPad, TVs, vouchers

If this is true, then there doesn't seem to be any point to the regulars board.

and then people complain that main is too busy with to many bumped threads and too many stickies!
the whole point of regs (i believe ) was so that comps that are enter more than once can be found easier than among the hundreds of enter once only comps that live on main and so that main would not be a mess of comps with no proper end date etc!0 -
Hi I don't know if you saw the poll on what comps should go where but it has been decided that all comps with an end date will be on the main board, ongoing regulars are on the regs boardwe're moving on now and trying to decide how the most compers can see the most comps

Before making any judgements purely on my beliefs you should probably let a few people reply to say if I'm wrong
But from my personal viewpoint no, it wouldn't make any difference to me entering regularcomps if everything went on main so long as it was linked on the stickies if it was a regular.
Even if it was in IWIWIW or a completely different board the link would find it. A few of us repeatedly said as much when the discussion was at it's most heated!!
What it might however affect is mine, and yours, and everyone elses comping from main as there will be a lot more comps to wade through. And a lot of the ones moved from regulars would have no end date which might confuse and/or upset people.
IMHO popping over to the stickies every so often isn't that big a hassle and keeps the main board less cluttered.0 -
evening everyone :hello:
I started posting this 4 hrs ago and then had a power cut
just wanted to say to people who don't like amilucky's idea that it isn't going to mean that every comp from regs is going to have a thread linking to it on the main board, just sometimes when a really popular thread is running on regs and someone doesn't want main board users to miss out, they have the option of linking to in this way, without starting a dupe threadI am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards. Sorry Glad, nothing personal, but I had a little chuckle to myself when I saw your comment above, as today I've had an issue with the Daily Mail bag comp again today. I posted it up as correct end date and I saw a comment somewhere about entering comps and they had disappeared, so I checked mine and it too was gone. It is only up for a day, so I reposted it.
