I dont want to bump this thread again so putting this here
I came across the original post by Beffffff yesterday when she posted it, in my normal comping fashion. Because of the nature of it and the current comping climate, I guessed it would be a "test case" so popped it on my spreadsheet to be safe. (it had already been mentioned about dailies on the thread so I didn't need to alert anyone!) Prior to "Regsgate" I wouldn't have dreamt of doing that as I would have imagined it to be 7 separate comps and posted each day, therefore coming across it each day. Normally I would have ticked, thanked moved on and never gone back because it was ticked.
Having explained all that, I would like to say that although I have had to be slightly more alert to remember what would happen here, it worked for me and my method of comping and think it's a fair compromise for all parties. So thanks beffffff for posting and for everyones input as to what to do with it. :TThat ain't working! That's the way to do it, money for nothing and TV's for free0 -
Thought I'd better ask in here before posting..
I have found a singstar competition on the PS3 Forums where you have to upload a video of you doing singstar, guitar or dance. But they say:
Is there a prize?
Unfortunately there cannot be a prize at this stage due to me not being able to provide them personally for legal reasons. However if we get enough entries and make this really popular then you might just get something. So recognition and the ultimate crown and the many votes are worth it!
Will people be interested in this or is it not worth posting?
Thanks0 -

I can't seem to get my head around the regulars, monthlies, weeklies or dailies =[ I was just wondering if anyone had any advice on how to get through them?
Any advice would be most welcome, and appreciated. Once again, sorry for intruding on this thread. If someone could PM me so I don't take over this thread anymore, that'd be brilliant.

this thread is for just those sort of questions, your not intruding, nor taking over so dont feel you need to apologise for asking
what works for me is every morning i start with the list of comps in the daily sticky thread. i open them in new tabs, click thanks and enter in the first post if its new, or click thanks on the new answer if its not a new thread iyswim. once ive entered all teh dailies on the list that i want to i check the end of the thread for any that have been added but are not yet in the first post. i thank them those posts as i see them. i also subscribe to the thread so i get an email when a new response is posted which means i know to check back for a new link if there has been a reply since i was there earlier in the day.
on a monday i aim to do weeklies after dailies. (often i skip them til tues or weds though, just so long as they get dont on one day im not too strict). again i work through the list in the op then check the thread from the last post i thanked onwards. for weeklies i uncheck the thanks button in the op as i open it and recheck it as i enter, then if im not sure ive entered this week i can see what date i thanked and work it out from there (which is thanks to befff giving me that wonderful tip).
each day i then try to check for any new threads in regular board itself, and enter any of those that interest me. if they need to be in the stickies and are not ill add the link to the thread to the appropriate sticky.
then if i still have time and motivation for comping ill head to main, sort the posts in end date order then go to bottom of first page to sort them ascending and enter as many of the comps that end tomorrow as i want to.
by using end tomorrow rather than end today i catch those that although the end date is tomorrow they infact end as soon as the clock hits midnight tonight as there are a number that do so.
im not very good at doing the monthlies regularly, the newsletter subscribe ones often tell me ive already entered even though its the first time ive seen the competition and im mostly too lazy to go to all the hassle of unsubscribing and remembering to go back and subscribe again in a few says.
thats just what works for me, and i used to regularly miss decent comps because they were not added to the stickies or posted in regs so i didnt see them until the last day. hopefully that is now going to change
good luck and sorry for the essay.0 -

its one a lot would skip because of the effort involved in making and uploading a video. more still will skip because it seems to be a voting thing (though i could be reading it wrongly). being that there are no prizes id say its not really a competition at all but more a fun task for the biggest fans of the site.0 -
Thank you for that Purplecatlover.0

re the bit I've bolded
I go to the main board and at the top where it says 'thread/thread starter' I just click on 'thread' and that seems to sort them the same way as you get?but with one less click for people needing to save time
not that I use it to enter many comps :rotfl: I use it to find comps with wrong title formats as they are listed above the threads with correct titles, then clicking 'end date view' brings up the threads with wrong formats at the other 'end' of the boardI am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards. If you sort by thread you can also choose whether you want the comps sorted in ascending or descending order. If at first you don't succeed try, try, try again.
