Well im happy with the current changes but it will have to done by the bg's and have yet to see some input regarding the decision or maybe i've missed it? (moving all the reg comps to main that have end dates and believe me there are loads!)

the suggestion of E: 31/01 (daily) makes perfect sense but it will have to done so everyone does it that style, that way there wont be a complete mess on the main, as you say just like E: 31/01 was done so we all had to follow that, but up to bg's of course as they are busy enough as it is

my only prob is the monthlies, hardly anyone sends me links to new monthly comps and only a few let me know when an expired one appears, if they send to glad for game over then i am not told, although the best way is to send a pm to both me and glad or any other bg, like a pm i got the other day, that was perfect as we are both told at same time :D

if a comp gets moved from regs to main, does the link change at all?

I haven't seen a decision yet either, I await with baited breath ;)

think that when the Regular comps including monthlies with end dates on the main board are posted you will find that the posters will ensure that links are sent to the relevant threads on the stickies when comps are posted and also sent to GO howether they may need to be reminded in the early stages

so I hope that the monthlies may become less of a problem for you,

I will and I'm sure that many other compers will keep an eye out for comps that haven't had the correct links sent to the appropiate stickies and send them accordingly

I have only just started comping properly again and have only just got on top of the main comps and daily and weeklies I haven't ventured into the monthlies as yet but will be doing quite soon, when I do I will go through them all to enter into my database and will post any out of date that I find into your monthlies sticky thread

don't know about the links if they will change "sorry"

    Best of Luck :)

I'm assuming that MSE towers and the BGS are going to take some time to discuss the threads, polls and pms they've recieved and then give us some guidelines/rules to follow, at least I really hope we will get something. It would be great if proposed rules about titles were made at the same time, so that suggestions to add daily, weekly, monthly entry/prize plus FB, Twitter, Blog, etc were implemented.

I think the polls caused more confusion than anything as they started, but then were amended/options addded. People queried the options offered, waited to vote in case polls changed again, and then the polls both closed early.

Possibly the Define a Reg poll should have run first, as I think we never accurately defined what comps would have fitted into Regs, before debating about where to post comps. Plus there was not an option to just leave things alone or to go back to how they used to be :(
My light may be on, but that doesn't always mean I am looking at the PC - I am far more likely to be cuddling or feeding Tianna atm, so please don't think I am ignoring you if I don't reply quickly :)

11 Are there any sites, from experience, which are likely to generate lots of spam?
There are a few which have come to our collective attention as sites that, when used for comps, seem to generate lots of unwanted postal, email & phone call attention. These are listed below for your information, however, please do remember that this is only the collective opinion of other MSE Compers & does not necessarily reflect upon the sites themselves.

  • Hey all, I'm sorry to intrude in this thread but I was hoping someone could advise me where I'd need to post a new thread relating to a query I have concerning monitoring the competitions - thus meaning I am ensuring I'm entering not just the ones on the main page, but also the others. I can't seem to get my head around the regulars, monthlies, weeklies or dailies =[ I was just wondering if anyone had any advice on how to get through them?

Any advice would be most welcome, and appreciated. Once again, sorry for intruding on this thread. If someone could PM me so I don't take over this thread anymore, that'd be brilliant.

    Hi Lou.
The way I monitor is by using the thanks button (I use the enter button too but have not found a way to track regulars with that_.

If a thread is a one off I enter then hit thank and enter and I'm done.

The best way to enter any posts on the regulars board AND any that are on the main with a link to the sticky is via the stickies. Bear in mind that at the moment some are still being worked on to remove old comps (I think)

And in case it helps this is how I keep track of the multiple entry ones. it might not work for you but it's one system for you to consider.

If it's a regular, be it daily, weekly or monthly I do the following: (for example with dailies but I use the same system for all)
On day one I hit thanks and enter.
On day 2 onwards I go in off the daily sticky. If there's a new answer each day I thank the answer so I know I've entered that day. If there's no new answer each day I unthank and rethank the original post. Then if you lose track of where you're up to and are not sure if you've done one yet you can open the thread back up and when you click on thanked by you can search for your username (it's listed alphabetically so not too bad) to see the last date you thanked. If it's today you know you've done that one already.

Hope that makes sense and helps?

I meant to reply yesterday but forgot.

Sure I saw on the big arguement thread that if a comp gets moved the link stays the same.
  • :T I too was worried about keeping track when there wasn't a new answer to "Thank," so that's a really useful tip about Un/Re-thanking so you can tell by the date you thanked :A
    Thank-you
