Most of them are, but a lot of the ones that are being moved to regs are single entry with an end date. If a comp e.g glamour is only open for one day then to me it's not regular, it's a single comp.
but it was posted with an end date of 31/01 and added to daily, not as a seperate thread every day?
so how were people finding it every day to check that day's posts? if they were saving the link, bookmarking the thread, adding it to a folder, checking new posts etc that still works
if all other comps were posted on the regs board then clicking on 'new topic' each day should list the threads so you could see any new comps posted since you last visited? But that takes so much longer for a comp that has a new prize every day
as above, threads with daily entry are usually one long thread not posted seperately each day so how do people find them on the main board each day?
compers who search by date - using advanced search you can select both boards to be searched at the same time bringing up all comps ending that date - I know that compers comping by end date would miss out on multiple entries but how did they find these comps on the main board? was it by 'new topic'? Can you? I search by thread title, and only access one board at a time
after selecting one board hold down control and select a second board
I don't know if it's even possible but would having an 'entered button' on every post in a reg thread help? Possibly, but you'd still have to find where you were up to
and would an 'expired' button in there help?
more to follow and thanks if you got this far
I'll freely admit I'm speaking as someone who very rarely strays into the regular board, and even if loads is taken out of the main board, I probably still wouldn't go in there much, but I do think that by just listening to pm's and people who are on here you are alienating the vast majority of compers. I still believe there should be a poll, even if it's just to find out how many people do just main board/ main and a bit of regulars/ regular users of both so that you have a better idea of how many people this actually affects.
at the moment a poll would be skewed by the fact that people who only use the mains have had a lot of the reg comps posted on there too so haven't needed to visit regs
last week when the discussion was quite heated and I hadn't been able to respond over the weekend due to internet problems, I emailed the MSE team with everything that was being discussed, now I've passed it to them I need to wait for a response on what they would like to see happen

First time I have ever written my opinion on this forum, so here goes. After quite a few years of comping, I have a routine for myself now, I love the entered button and on the main board can see exactly what I've entered, before entering a comp I can hover over the title and see if its from a site I want to enter first before I click and go on the thread - this is a massive time-saver. I don't comp by end date, or use any searches to comp, I just go back to the page I last ticked and comp from there. I'm not the most efficient comper, but its how it works for me. I do use the daily thread, its been very well laid out, and as there are only half a dozen or so I enter daily I can remember which ones those are.
The monthly thread, although well organised is massive and does not work for me. It is listed by prize and I can't see what site its from or any other info unless I click through - instead I have a piece of paper with the monthly comps I enter and tick them off each month as I do them, so more than likely I have been missing a few new monthly comps. However, with more and more monthly comps considered regular and not on the main board, then I am not going to be able to keep up with these. The rest of the reg board is such a mix-mash, if I've entered a comp once then my entered tick shows, so I'd have to open each one up and scroll to the end before I decide to enter or not.
I am grateful to everyone who posts comps and the time and effort they put in. I am very disappointed that so many long-time posters are now not posting - when a comp is posted by a trusted poster I can enter away secure in the knowledge that it's not a dupe, the site is not dodgy and the answers are to the best of their knowledge correct. There have been great improvements to the site in the last couple of years, end date view & entered tick, but moving so many comps over to regulars and the likelihood and so many more will move over, will be detrimental to my way of comping.0 -

and the sign up/reg once and be entered into a draw type with no end date in the regs board
and maybe have a seperate sticky for these types, although if monthly comps are posted as an entirely new comp each month on the main board do they need to be in the sticky at all??I am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards. I mentioned it earlier but no one has explained yet how come comps that end monthly with diff prizes such as WOTV - Nuts etc have been moved to the regulars board. Just because you can enter them daily if you want, to me that does not make it a regular?. Personally I only enter these once anyway as I wouldn't have time to enter them every day - unless it's a really good prize then I will subscribe to the thread and try and enter a few more times.
Also is it possible to set up a poll so mse compers can decide what they want?
It seems the general consensus so far is keep all comps on the main board with links to the regular thread for monthlies, dailies etc.
I am really gutted to see a lot of the regular posters stop posting, they do such a fab job it's a real shame people have been upset.0 -

I've answered this a few times
now I have reported to the MSE team with what's been posted over the last week I need to wait for a response from themI am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards. so that the regular comp posters on main that have dropped out are happy to post again
no response to my post either I guess Glad has already answered us both by sayingI emailed the MSE team with everything that was being discussed, now I've passed it to them I need to wait for a response on what they would like to see happen

I meant a poll for compers to answer not the MSE team?
Surely the users of the boards are best placed to decide what is easiest and what they want - and why would the MSE team want something the users don't want?
Can I just ask what has been put forward to the MSE team? It seems to me the comp board for the last 2 years (since I have been here) has ran fine and all of a sudden people are following new "rules" and everyone is getting upset - just go back to how it was before!
That prob sounds really arsey but it's not meant to x0 -

agree with brocher & have 'bolded/coloured' the reasons,
i mentioned this before that it would be better to have the sites name (so we can see which site it is) along with the prize in brackets after, as BHG has done on the dailys, a lot of the prizes have changed on the monthlys etc so we have to click on each link to see which site it is & if there's a new comp, using search in the reg board sometimes doesn't show which site you're looking for as the headings are just the prize (IYSWIM)
appreciate you have to wait for replys Glad to all this, at least
you're on here trying to help (even if you do keep moving half the comps before half of us get to see them)
& judging by the majority again it seems the same answer over & over again, the comps are better posted on main board first then the link added to the regs threads for those who want to use itplease be a responsible pet owner & spay/neuter your pets, too many strays & not enough homes for them sadly.0 -
First I'd like to say it is a real shame that people have been upset to the point that they have stopped posting comps
Secondly, can I just suggest that we all stop moaning/argueing and just try to give helpful suggestions until Glad has had a response from the MSE team. This forum is usually such a lovely place I can't believe there's been so much distress and resentment caused just by the current rules being enforced.
I'll be happy whatever is decided, but get the feeling something needs to be decided by the powers that be soon or we'll all be missing out and more people will get upset and vote with their feet.
And just a couple of suggestions from me:
1) If some monthly comps are going to be posted monthly can there be a list of these ones (without links if easier) at the end of the monthlies sticky just so we can make sure none of them are missed one month?
2) Can the monthlies that are already there as monthlies stay unlocked for new answers please?
3) If regulars end up being posted in the main board and linked to the relevant sticky could a rule be put in place to say that if you post a regular (or are the first to notce something is a regular) that you MUST add a comment to the relevant sticky so the sticky manager can add it to the top post. That way no-one misses out whether they comp from the main board or the stickies.
Sure I'll think of more, xx0 -
What all this has brought up, no matter what our particular view is, is how much we all love and feel passionate about the comps board , which can only be a good thing, xxx#JusticeForGrenfell0
