Now however its much eaiser for compers and bgs to see that comps with the same url but different Q's or prizes all the time have expired, so these could be back in main more easily I guess. But I guess this may have to be cleared first by BGs/MSE admin.

please remember that all my ideas are just that and open to discussion

a monthly comp with an end date could easily be posted every month in the main board, even if it was posted a few days late it wouldn't matter to most compers
ongoing monthlies with no end date (draws etc) could go in regs

comps with a daily or weekly entry could go in regs, these threads often have a lot of posts and get bumped regularly
it's getting people to use the board and make it easier that will help

hiya guys n girlies this is such a silly question i feel like a right muppet asking but a few days ago toniq posted how she was going to do her comping when the board was shut and used the word puter. i have been wondering what a puter is - guesing its a local dialect but it maybe a comping word i dont know as iam still fairly new. so sorry for the daft question !! thank you to all who have posted who are putting their posts down. if i can help in any way i would love to please let me know xxxxxxxxxx

compers who search by date - using advanced search you can select both boards to be searched at the same time bringing up all comps ending that date - I know that compers comping by end date would miss out on multiple entries but how did they find these comps on the main board? was it by 'new topic'?

it is my understanding that the only "proper" way to search by end date is to use the sort by thread title function, and this is not possible to do over two boards at the same time.

I don't know if it's even possible but would having an 'entered button' on every post in a reg thread help?
and would an 'expired' button in there help?

i dont understand how this would work as the whole point of the entered button was so that when you are viewing the board you can quickly see if you've entered because there will be a tick there. having an entered on every single post is no different to having the thanks button to track entry. the tick would still show once you've clicked entered on the first post. this is the difficulty i find with the puzzler threads - having to go back through to see where i last left off

I think people are getting annoyed now because we were promised that discussion would take place over this in the new year and now half way through january this doesnt seem to be happening in an official way so people are still clueless as to whats going on.

I think also maybe people are upset as I know you say you're just doing what the rules state, but these have not been implemented in as such a strict fashion for a long long time so it does look as if changes are being made without any consultation.

Personally I am also of the opinion that every comp should be on the main board with links for dailies etc.

I'm going to find this hard to explain so bear with me x

If on regs there was just Daily, Weekly and Monthly and only those threads left open, so as comps are posted on mainboard they can have a link put into one of those 3 if it falls into daily, weekly or monthly.

All the other threads on regs should fall into one of the above catergories and be linked into the appropriate one. If those posts on regs are left there and no new added , ie no way to post onto regs unless ur linking to D,W or M, or commenting on an exsisting post. people will only have to check the daily , weekly or monthly folder and nought else.

That would mean a mass clean up of dead posts etc, which i know you are doing at the moment x

So say from that point everything was posted on main board and linked if needed, it should be a solution for everyone as end date peeps will have the link from dailies, weeklies or monthlies to follow, As posted peeps will see it on board as posted and also be able to see it from the D, W or M threads.

Bumping now shouldn't be an issue as if you are comping from end date, you wont see the bumping and likewise if you are comping from thread start time or new you shouldn't be affected by bumping.

It will also make it more clear where to send the comp, as all you need to do is leave a link of the url for the mainboard thread in the appropriate thread if it falls into.

It would solve the issue of comps just posted on the regs and not linked anywhere so unless you trawl through you wouldn't spot it as often happens.
