    Hi,

I've found 2 competitions on the Stale Popcorn website, however, it keeps crashing my laptop.

Could someone please check the Win section to see if there are anymore on there?

    Thanks.

    .

That must have took some finding;)
So has it been sorted then which i am?:)

Actually that thread is wat this is all about. That comp is posted on a regular basis on the main board but is a monthly hence why i aaid i couldn't be arsed moving it as someone will just post it up again.

I can't see what all the fuss is about?
Regular board is for weekly monthly comps so post them there simple?
I always move comps that i see myself or get asked to move there with a one day redirect so you can still see them on the main board.

But it comes down to the fact that people want the glory and recognition and thanks of posting them on the main board i suppose as they don't get seen in regulars?

hiya :) no, didn't take no finding :D

so if a newbie or someone who isn't used to the boards posts a 'reg' you cba's to moving it ? :D

so it's up to the members/regs on here to do it ?

so found it a bit confusing when you say you always move comps yourself if you see them yourself as this one

    #308

was thanked by you early on but not sent to ppd for the regs thread :)

    you say..

"But it comes down to the fact that people want the glory and recognition and thanks of posting them on the main board i suppose as they don't get seen in regulars?"

that's what the debate is all about, it's not the 'glory' or 'recognition' for posting, but the fact that they take the time to find/post the comp for everyone to enter,
& then half of them get 'shunted' off to the 'regs' board before
peeps have chance to see them on main board.

we seem to be losing 'reg' posters most days saying they're not posting anymore :(

You can't say people post on main board instead of regs for the glory and recognition?!?!?!

I'm sure a few might but most do it to contribute, because they enjoy posting and even in some cases for the karma aspect. People just want the comp seen and as many as poss given the opportunity to win.

I didn't do the Advent thread for the glory, I done it as I knew it was a challenge and as a comper i'm up for a challenge.

I often post comps i find on regs that aren't heavily hit and close to end date onto my facebook so it gets more exposure and more get the chance to enter, my facebook is purely 300 odd compers.

I just think when things are actually defined we will actually be able to move forward.

I also set up as a sub for regs, 2 days ago, and not 1 email yet! so that blows that idea out of the window for me.

I stopped posting all 20+ monthlies ages ago and have dropped Sci-Fi too. I'm dropping WOTV too seeing as all those I spent ages posting on Friday (When actually, I had Real Life work I should have been doing) were removed AGAIN. They were never removed before.... But you know what? It may just take more than that, as I'm effectively going to have to comp from 2 boards now and there simply aren't enough hours in my busy days to both comp and post. I'm sure I'll survive without the "Glory..."

    QUOTE]

But despite repeated requests for clarification and consistency, that's never happened.

I actually find the "Glory" comment pretty offensive and am very grateful that both Korky & Toniq have found the courage to respond here :A.

My life is not that shallow that I crave the "Glory" of posting on here. In fact it is very rich and filled with things I am beginning to neglect as I spend more and more time here (Comping is so addictive!)

The only sensible solution to both these dilemmas seems to be that I stop posting. That way I can bow out of all the friction and focus on stuff that really matters (as part of my sig has remained since I first composed it :D)

I bear no ill will and wish you all well :A.

P.S. Although I made a deliberate decision not to comment on previous posts (which only seemed to be raised once the original row had died down,) may I just state publicly and for the record, that there was never any intended criticism of Diva. She has her own, personal reasons for taking time out and I have always respected that. At least we knew where we stood there.
If other BGs felt I overstepped the mark, I apologise for any hurt caused.
Worse things will have happened in the world today...

Hi - I can see there has been some discussions on here regarding the regulars board - I have tried reading back thorough it all but I got a little lost lol. Would it be a good idea to start a poll thread to see what the majority of compers would prefer to happen?

Personally I would like all comps posted on the main board with links to the regular board - I thought that was how it sort of was before??

I am a little confused as a lot of comps that are always normally on the main board (WOTV ETC) seem to have been removed from the main board and reposted onto regulars. I only noticed this as I saw some discussions going on and I checked out the regular board - no one has been informed of this change and they have never been moved onto their before so I am a little confused why this has been done?

Also just to add I appreciate all posters and BG's you do a great job - I try to post comps when I find them but you are all too fast for me x

I just wanted to add something to the regulars debate that hasn't been mentioned before (as far as I can see) but may make you think.

In http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=18799951&postcount=2 divadee states “Any weekly or monthly comps should be placed on the regular competitions board. These will be locked after a month of posting just to archive them.” We know this did actually happen and Glad went through loads of comps unlocking them recently, but does anybody wonder why this locking was implemented in the first place? I would be interested if any of the long-standing forum members remember and can tell us all.

After trying to think of a good reason for this, I am wondering if the weekly/monthly boards were originally meant to be just for those comps that have the same prize and URL and no (or the same) question each time – an example being https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/65797 which is nearly six years old and would still be just one post if it wasn’t for dupes! Other comps that just happen to run weekly or monthly but have different prizes/URLs/questions each time could not be appended to these locked threads – so maybe these comps were meant to go on the main board anyway!

These competitions in regulars with new links and/or prizes and/or answers each time soon build up to be long threads and can contain loads of out of date posts. An example I am familiar with is the “zoo jewellery” competition https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/845167 which currently stands at 85 posts, and posts 2-82 are out of date – if the comp was posted on the main board each month they would have been automatically moved to Game Over.

No idea why they were locked. I agree with what you've said above, to me the only ones that should be on the regular boards are the ones with the same URL, answer and prize every day/week/month. Glamour should not be on there, prize is different every day. This one shouldn't be on there as answer is different each day: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2959100

This one should be on there as URL and prize is the same each month: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/391468

like you said, if this was why they were locked, the regulars board would actually make sense for these competitions that would otherwise get completely lost.

Can we PLEASE have clarification and a proper definition of what is regular, I think this is what is annoying people the most at the moment, not having a clue of what should be where!

I fully understand your sentiments and your reasons for not posting the comps GB

the boards are now falling into disarray with numerous main board regular posters dropping out because of there comps being moved ad hoc to the regulars board

this problem now seems to be in Free Fall and I wonder how many more regular comp posters will drop out before the issue is addressed
