This is really all there is? Have I missed a chunk somewhere?

"Any weekly or monthly comps should be placed on the regular competitions board. These will be locked after a month of posting just to archive them. It is nothing more than that. It is nothing personal to the OP."

It doesn't even mention Daily comps! Perhaps we could have the daily Glamour comp back on the Main board again.

No I think that's it. Although there's not much about any other specific comps either. I guess all the other rules are just general rules (in the 1st post) which apply to regulars aswell as non regulars.

IMHO all that is really needed on top of whats there is a definition, and a rule saying if you spot a comp is a regular you have to let the relevant sticky owner know if it's not already there?

I totally missed the first 9 days of the Glamour comp this month because it had been moved/posted to the Regulars Board. I still think we should post everything on the Main Board and then have a link to it over on the Regulars for those that like to work from there. Could you add that suggestion to your list please Glad?

Seconded. For anyone that is conducting any kind of poll this is my preference too.

BTW I only got wind that this discussion was continuing by chancing to catch a reference to it on Facebook (and even then it took me a while to actually track it down). So if there is ever a more formal poll/discussion can I request that it's widely publicised? :)
I'd post more but I'm too darned slow :D

I think that maybe we should all leave the discussions for a bit and let feelings cool etc and let Glad have a chance to catch her breath and maybe draw up a list of the suggestions. I do howver think that a poll would be the most sensible way of determining the majority view point.

I totally understand what you are saying about using the main board for all comps, as things stood a few months ago that would probably have been what I thought was best too. However having seen the recent changes I really do think once the stickies are back up to date (very well underway) people will start using them again and then perhaps it will work better than you expect having the threads for the regulars out of the way of the "normal" comps?

Maybe it won't work too, but perhaps we should all give it a chance (few months trial??) and then make up our minds based on experience rather than arguing for and against something we have no experience of and upsetting people that work very hard for our benefit in the process?

this is really what I'd like to do :)
with constructive ideas for how the regs board could be better

then at least if it still doesn't work for the majority we can put something evidence based to the MSE team :)

I've asked MSE Andrea to look at the description on the regs board when she has time :)

I everything was posted on the main board we wouldn't have a regs board to post the links on, alternatively if people work from the stickies and links are sent to the OPs to keep them up to date, it wouldn't matter which board they wer on the link would take you straight to the thread

    thanks crin :)
I did say before Xmas it might take a while to get the ideas in some kind of order, then I'd really like to come back with all the ideas, from here and from pm's and discuss it further

It would matter to me Glad which is why I made the suggestion. I only have limited time to comp and rarely have time to go to the other boards. I think it's the inconsistency that is catching me and a lot of people out, I'm sure that the Glamour comps have always been on the main board until now. Never mind, I'll wait and see what happens. Thanks for trying to sort things out :)

Excellent - hopefully she can come back to us with a firm definition, then we can move forward as we will know what construes a daily/weekly/monthly comp. Just like the definition we have of 'free comps' lol :)

    Happy comping folks
Remember you win some you lose some - but always better to actually enter some xx

  • Hi, can I just ask a question. I very rarely go into regular comps as I am never up to date on the main board, but I notice 3 stickies daily/weekly/monthly and then loads of other threads underneath that. Am I right in assuming that all of those threads are actually in one of the stickies as well, or are they totally different and unrelated? Just want to know before I attempt to find my way round there.
I know there's a lot of 'discussion' going on at the moment, and in my opinion something is only a daily/ weekly /monthly if it is for one prize with one question, the minute it becomes another prize or another question then it's another competition,

That's my understanding of it :)

That's the way I understand it too, I've been through the daily threads that are in there and I think I've put them all on in some way, shape or form, although there's a few I'm unsure about so I've asked for advice and will update the thread again when I know what do to with them. :D
