Joined every challenge thread on MSE in order to get my deposit bigger. Got SPC and VPC and 8k in 2012 challenge. Although looks like im in it for the long term as i dont really like flats and decent houses are only 30k more, So save a little more and get your own house etc.

Look what i found, this would be my dream first house.

Wonderful property and it hits a real sweet spot for me too. Unfortunately the location just wont do it for me unless I win the lottery and retire here to then try and make it on the professional golf circuit- so here's all fingers crossed for this weekend's Euromillions - you never know do ya :rotfl:

All the best to you and I am sure you will get that dream house one day....with 2011 almost ending, cant wait to get the £12 in 12 challenge going. And oh, the missus and I are looking at £180k basic so all guns blazing saving for that next year!

Who says we won't buy? We will buy... at the right time. :)

We would not have wanted to buy in the last few years and thank goodness we didn't. At this rate, with our savings going up and house prices going down, we will buy low, have a *very* small mortgage and have it all paid off within a decade at the most. Whereas our friends who bought at the peak will be paying theirs off for 30-35 years.

Buying = good. Buying at the wrong time = very, very bad.

The trick is picking the bottom, when will that be?

£150 to the ISA today now so I'm up to £9,650 in the ISA. Off to update the sig now!
ISA savings: £25,139 Other Savings: £1750 (tied up in bond)
  • I've maxed out my ISA for the year. I then used my leftover savings to pay off a large debt that I had. I realised that the stress over the debt, wasn't worth the interest I'd be making from the money in a savings account.
£5,400 saved so far. Saving for the future.

Sorry do you mean your family is earning £180k next year. If so you should have your own challenge of £50k in 2012. £12k should be pennies then lol
