Shame about that - but you're in the right place!save-a-lot wrote:Anyway, it is time to start thinking about which provider to use for the ISA, I was going to go for NS&I Direct ISA (currently using them for 06/07 allowance) - but there is a Barclays ISA paying 6.5%, the 6.5% includes a 1% bonus if the money remains in there for a year. Worth a try I reckon.
Yeah, I'm thinking of doing the same. Kind of wondering what other new products might be around the corner as well though and worried about the mad rush come the beginning of April when everyone applies for it.save-a-lot wrote:Anyone here do stocks and shares investor ISA???
I've thought about it but am sticking with low-risk stuff as I'm not going to be here in five years' time. I'd be interested to hear how you get on though.

Not overly bothered as both of those jobs improve the house a little and they have needed doing for a while. Besides I had a good year at work last year so I am expecting a BIG bonus and hopefully an increase in grade within the next couple of months :j - should not pre-empt anything, I will keep my fingers crossed.0 -
Plus that's what savings are for innit

Hi Save-a-lot,
I know the feeling. We have just bought new fence panels and a new summerhouse (well glorified shed!!):D
I would have reached my target without buying these but I'm nearly there now!! Plus we just pulled down the garage so needed somewhere to store stuff.
I'm rather chuffed cos just realised been paying the same amount into joint account for bills, but don't pay water bills and council tax for last couple of months so have extra £360 to put into savings![0 -
Hi
We live in a new build (newish should I say 2001) so these two jobs mean removing the generic wall coverings and replacing with stuff we actually like. So, the pleasure from the knowledge we are improving our home means more than the savings. We tend to do one or two big jobs a year at home, until we have concentrated on the outside, now we are doing inside.0 -

Hi,
It does make you feel better!
We live in a 1930s house and are having to rip out most of the hideous things people have done to it over the years. At the moment we have no plaster on the walls in the dining room or bathroom....but IT WILL be better once it is done. Just a bit messy for now
