Yay! I do get way too excited about spreadsheets - espeeeecially charts! Any chance you would share that one with me? I want to do it for a new TV...
On Quidco are you doing the Kelkoo/High St Web/Shopping.com clicks daily? Be careful as they may not like it... I do those 3 times a week and at different times just in case...
Are you including the Olympic challenge towards the NYC trip?
Re the buying a house, I would imagine the 'properties' board must have recommendations? Or Martin's book must have somewhere to start? I remember I logged on to Charcol for £5 and had a look myself at the best mortgage deals, theeeeeen I went to a local IFA that charged me no fees. Luckily for him he came up with the same offer as being the best one and was impressed I had already checked (I think ha ha)....MFW #185

How come you managed to save while you still had your student loan then?
I think in the spirit of supporting and encouraging each other, we should work out some way of including what the OP suggested. JMO.
Suze
I kept the savings and loan payments seperate, that's the point I'm trying to make.
Simply overpaying and existing debt still isn't saving imo (unless of course you take out this overpayment and put it in a savings account at some point in the future, some mortgages allow this).
When the debt is finally paid off early, you may have saved on interest but you will effectively have nothing to show for it and a balance of £0.Save save save!!0 -
Ok
I am full time student and I work for an agency 2 days per work but this can be more or less.
My husband works full time, but is in a DMP and he saves £5 a week into Credit Union and has no other savings.
I earn about £110 per week after tax and NI, I am due a tax rebate as I have been paying emergency tax for ages after a mix up at the tax office.
I do sell on ebay, but I have this terible habit of then buying stuff with the money I have made!
I also do YouGov, Mutual Points, PigsBack, Quidco, Nectar etc.
We've just remortgaged but we needed to take out a larger mortgage to do some home improvements, we have no plans to move so figured this was the easiest way to do it seeing as our house has gone up by £30k in 2 years, unfortunately the rate isn't great as hubby is on Self-Cert with poor credit and even with my fairly good credit rating, it didn't improve the rates available.
I pay £20 a month into Credit Union savings too, but I am not sure if I should cut this down in order to channel money into my Citi savings?
I've never been good at saving and I really do not want to let myself down on this one! I am going to need my new car is few years I just don't want to have to take the loathing car credit out again, I just realised what a waste of money it is!

Welcome DM, first place to start saving is your mini cash isa, you can put up to £3000 a year (250 a month) into and and all the interest is tax free. Fill that up and in 2 years you will have around 6300 quid towards your car!
National savings and investments is currently the best isa on the market, but it is often changing.Save save save!!0 -

Hi
Ahhh well, start again, savings dented by paying out for a new fence and tiling the bathroom. It means I have to start again on the savings challenge. I'll have to be more frugal and save a little harder to get back to where I was.
Anyway, it is time to start thinking about which provider to use for the ISA, I was going to go for NS&I Direct ISA (currently using them for 06/07 allowance) - but there is a Barclays ISA paying 6.5%, the 6.5% includes a 1% bonus if the money remains in there for a year. Worth a try I reckon. Anyone here do stocks and shares investor ISA???0 -
