Added £177.98 to the ISA so that's a total of £5,177.98 (£9,927.98 in total savings). It's slowly creeping up but not as quickly as I hoped.ISA savings: £25,139 Other Savings: £1750 (tied up in bond)0

Thanks Lucy! LOL @ thinking you want to be me! Nobody's ever said that before so I'll take it as a compliment
I never thought my bf would marry me, either, so there's hope for you I reckon. How long have you been together?
How come your savings have been going backwards (apart from the car issue)?? I've obviously been away from this board far too long!!!

Creepy bit over...
Since I last updated my sig I've written off my car. I can't see myself saving anything in the next year, let alone reaching my target by Jan 2012. Good for you rictus, well done on saving this young. Am 36 and only started saving in earnest after paying off 30k debt in 5 years. Wish had saved years ago. Best of luck, with that determination you will do well in life, izzySavings Dave thats a really great respecatable amount you have saved. Iv sorted my debt out..soon i will have the post sayingr im complete debt free! Then il have a large surplus of cash each month ready for saving! Looking at saving about £20k to move out and buy a house with my gf...She will match this.
Im hoping to buy in about 3 and a half years, when i turn 23...so about 42 months to save £20k=£477 a month... Easy do-able for my salary! Especially with it doubling in the summer when i serve my time! Also got a few homers coming up so should have a few thousand in saved by xmas!! I think il buy when i hit the £20k rather than when i turn 23....
The thing is when i turn 20 in the summer il be on a much better salary than i am now...so the £477 a month wont be the only savings im doing. Il also be aiming to save £5k a year so about £100 a week for at least 5 years - until im 25 so il have at least its not been long since i was 13 - 6 years ago...so itl be no time at all and il be 25. If im in my own house, paying my mortgage with a safe amount of savings(£20k+) and decent income then i can think about marrage and a family of my own...Or even starting up my own business!

Wow, suzey, am sure u have been asked this many times, but how long did it take u to save 100k?! Serious amount of money, well done. I reckon on my current salary (net 2100 p month)it would take me about 12 years! Thanks Lucy! LOL @ thinking you want to be me! Nobody's ever said that before so I'll take it as a compliment

You'll be fine, you're bringing home a lot more than I was for most of the time I was saving! It took me about 10 years. At the beginning I was saving a couple of hundred a month, this then went up to about £800 a month and peaked at around £1500-£1800. I lived quite frugally!!!
