Hello again everyone! Was working overtime last night so totally forgot about being paid, what a lovely surprise this morning! I'm sure I must have been over paid expenses so they'll have to go back, but otherwise I've done pretty well despite so big days out. Something like £2500 saved this month, not bad at all, didn't think I'd get over £38k but it's nice to reach that. I'm due some interest next month for an account open last year, so it's really great to see the fruits of putting a bit of research into savings! Yay for MSE! Tentative aim for £41k for next month....

Hello newbies and oldies, I need a recap, how are the regulars getting on?

Hiya been away so not posted for ages sorry.
Came home to a £500 tax refund and got some money for graduation before I went on holiday so yey!! Trying to bump up the 2nd vantage at the moment but its a slow goer! Esp as I've just had 3 weeks unpaid off work eeek!! Anyway got £2300 in there now and hoping to have filled it (£7000) by the end of the year, so 5 months to save £4700. A massive push, and it ill be hard - doubt ill get there to be honest, but I'm game for a challenge and I've just treated myself loads in china so i shouldnt need anything for a while!

Well done to everyone on their savings updates and welcome newcomers! So far I am doing well with my very very strict budget - but it's only the 2nd! I didn't leave the house and spent the day gardening so no money spent today! I am also trying very hard not to buy a new pair of boots but I keep thinking about them. Basically I do plan to buy them but it can't be this month. Does anybody else 'argue' with themselves about whether to buy something or save the money?

    Hi everyone! :hello:

I think this is a fab thread and I would like to join this challenge if I may. I have just (last Friday!) cleared off my debts so I am now officially debt free and raring to save! :j

My aim is to save £5,000 + between now and the end of this financial year - quite a big target but I feel that I can do it! Now that I don't have to throw money at my debts I feel that I will be able to save between £800-1000 each month. This will hopefully leave some money over for living a little ;) This month I hope to put away £500. I am going to change my signature now :) I hope next month to change my ISA (it's with Halifax) to their Rewards one which has a better rate as far as I know, but you need to deposit £1000 first, so this month that won't be possible.

Hope nobody minds me joining in :o

Of course we don't mind! Welcome aboard! :D Good luck with the £5k target. Even if you think it's a bit steep, it's good to have something to aim for!
