Dumb question: do you live in France? If so you are very lucky! I dream of having a house there one day!
Just over the border in Switzerland where they haven't adopted the euro (the Swiss and the Brits have a lot in common actually). It is outrageously expensive here and you get nothing for free, especially if you're not a citizen.Trying to keep in budget.

98% of the total of my net pay and gross pension contributions is what I've accumulated for the tax years from 2006-7 through 2009-10.
A place to live, bills, food, holidays, all effectively at no cost. Saving most of my income then switching to investments in 2008 and 2009 let me gain nicely from the stock market lows and subsequent recovery. Stoozing and investing the stooze money during the recovery helped, with gains greater than most of my core living costs last year.0 -
Let me know if you find out, my ISA interest has been paid on 28th of the last 3 months but not today so I was wondering why too. I wasn't expecting to get interest on my A&L account, not monthly anyway, but I got my £100 opening incentive the other day and ...wait for it...4p interest:rotfl:
It was paid on the 30th, for the period 25th March to 29th April. I don't know why their month suddenly got 4 days longer, but I got the right amount of interest for that long month, so I'm OK with that :Ppartlydave wrote: »Probably a computer error which wont happen unless you ring them:)
I didn't get around to calling them.. but thankfully it sorted itself out. I guess I"ll give them a week or so in future... but it is hard to trust themminidannii wrote: »so i went on the insurance compare site and got the cheapest quote £555, so i phoned up they asked which company i was with before and told me it is actually a joint company so they would transfer me to my insurance company and price match - so got it for £555 really happy
I love beating the insurance companies at their little game. Half of them are the same companies, it's not fair that there can be such a difference between quotes for an identical service.
I don't know where I am with last month yet... but I did well on the interest front. £43 as opposed to an average of £30 over the last 6 months. This is the first time in months that I earned more interest in one month than the month before. It's just been dropping and dropping and dropping, as bonus rates expire, even though my savings have been growing. This is thanks to A&L 6% and transferring my paltry HSBC ISA (1.75%)Happy!
