Does anyone know of any reason why A&L might pay me interest on my current account on 25th Feb, 25th March, but 25th April has been and gone and I've earnt no interest! Just wondered if there's a proper reason before I phone them...

    Ah brainwave... charity shops??

That makes sense and ties in with Tara saying that it's cheap. Had me stumped for a bit though!

  • I worked it out the moment I submitted my original message. Which is always the way. I struggle over things for hours at work sometimes, then as soon as I ask someone to look at it with me, I get it, every time.

Not sure if it makes any difference, but 25th Feb and March were both Thursdays. I'm not at all familiar with A&L having never had an account with them but it might be something like paying interest on the last Thursday of the month and on those months, that happened to be the 25th (would be 29th this month on that basis). Perhaps wait and see if it's gone in tomorrow and then ring them up like you were planning?

    I'm probably completely over-thinking this!:o

  • Well, I did wonder if it had anything to do with the week day, which is why I've left it til now. 25th was Sunday this month, so I thought it'd make sense if it was paid on Monday or Tuesday, and then I thought it might take an extra day to show. But, interest is supposed to be paid on the same date it was originally funded, if I remember correctly.

Let me know if you find out, my ISA interest has been paid on 28th of the last 3 months but not today so I was wondering why too. I wasn't expecting to get interest on my A&L account, not monthly anyway, but I got my £100 opening incentive the other day and ...wait for it...4p interest:rotfl:

And I thought that getting 74p on my old Natwest ISA was rubbish! Mind you, there were no incentives with that account to sweeten the blow but still!
