I see your point but surely it would only be fair if my parents back dated charging from when my brother lived here ?
Thats what am trying to get at, save to move out asap, my brother was allowed a girlfriends, and save not pay a penny. He didn't move out till 2 months before his wedding.
Yet i get told i cant go here and there, am not allowed to go meet a guy, then when i go so long without talking about a guy they call me lesbian.
Now after i told my parents i gambled a few times cos i was down I WANT OUT am nearly 22, they say i can now go meet the guy i like. I dont want to build my hopes up in case they change back.
and no not heard
Ah right, didn't realise the wedding was abroad.
Babe, I am going to tell you something, give you the benefit of my experience so to speak, since I am a few years older than you. I know you want to keep saving, but independence is something that you cannot put a price on. I moved out when I went to uni, and have not lived with the folks since. I love them dearly, but just needed to stand on my own two feet, and they have treated me like a proper adult since I moved out.
Maybe you need to move out, even share a place with friends if you can't afford to rent alone (I actually preferred this to living alone, and now rent with OH). Renting, with all the bills that accompany it, means that it is taking us longer to save our deposit than if we lived at home, but you know what? I don't want to put my life on hold. We will get there, and in the meantime we're having a good time.
Have you considered moving out? Have you thought about what it will be like living with your parents for the next X years while you save? Work out what you *really* want and go for it. I agree money isn't everything, but i really couldnt think i could live on my own and most of my friends have kids/engaged so moving in with a friend isn't easy.
As for a boyfriend my parents never let me get a boyfriend, after i told them i was told so thats why i gambled a few times, now they are saying i can go and meet the guy i like.
Its a long story, i met the guy i like when i was 16, my dad always tried to stop me from meeting him, so i decided lifes to short so i went to meet him when i could, but my dad always went mad when i got back, then the guy moved to england everytime i said i was going to go see him, my parents stopped me. Then my brothers got girlfriends and my parents were so happy for them and the girlfriends were welcomed in the house.
I started spending more and more time in my room, wasn't untill a few weeks ago i txt my dad saying i want out, i want a life, then burst out crying saying how they were happy for my brothers to have a girlfriend, and went mad at me for meeting guys, thats why i gambled a few times. Then my dad said i thought he had a kid, i said no he doesn't and you never said that a long time ago. He then said ok you can go meet him when you want.
So yeah i hope my dad doesn't change again so i can get out more, who knows i might end up moving in with the guy lol.0 -

Can I ask how old you are? ... I know its rude to ask a female that an'all ... so you don't have to answer :rotfl:0 -
Hi,
I've been reading MSE for about 6 months now and would really like to join the fun of saving!
I've got a direct saver plus with £5500 in and I'm hoping to save £8k by the end of the year whilst also saving for a house with my boyfriend, in a joint account.
I'm sensible with money but have to pay board (moved back in with the folks to save), buy food, run a car and I also have a 6 year old daughter.
I'm hoping to save approx £700 - ish a month0 -
