Hi, I just wanted to say you lot are inspiring me even though I have some debt left to pay off. Got a nice surprise yesterday in that DH will be paid a bonus of £1150 tomorrow, meaning we have £800 cc debt left to pay. After that its save, save, save! Already have £3000 saved but need to save to pay off a loan in full and that fund will also act as an emergency fund.

I want our money to work hard for us and never have to pay any interest again, the amount of money we have thrown away in the past is incredible!

    See you soon :)

    Alliance & Leicester :)

My current ISA pays 3%... before that it was 6.2%!!!!! I long for those days to come again, especially as we can put £5,100 in this year...

I'd rather the ISA's stayed at 3% with inflation as 0, with house prices dropping.

A high ISA rate looks good but generally means high inflation which affects too much else other than just cash. :(

True... but with IRs almost certain to rise later this year, house prices are toast - again. :rotfl:

However, Cash ISA transfers in are not allowed (from previous years).

    http://alliance-leicester.co.uk/savings/flexible-isa.aspx

I guess you can use this years allowance and then top up in April, but be aware that the rate is only guarenteed for 12 months, after which it will probably drop to over 1%.
