I have saved £1560 so far this year. I feel so bad though, that I never saved since 16 when I started work. Only started now. Been in debt before, out of it now though.

I've initiated a transfer this evening that will take my ISA total to £4,400 (£9,400 in total) so I'll be £600 away from my first target for the year when it's complete. It's taking me forever to get there as I'm not able to add much to savings at the moment and it's really frustrating me.
ISA savings: £25,139 Other Savings: £1750 (tied up in bond)
  • got paid

    £1150.36

    My needs are

    Petrol

    phone line and broadband

other than that its just things i "need" to spend

I need to save as much as i can to move out

but its bad i work in a supermarket and i always fancy things after work

Did your savings come from your parents danni? No shame in admiting it.

On another note £500 a month spends maybe allow me to save £600 a month...Should manage from April onwards.
Work in progress...Update coming July 2012.
  • :wave:hey everyone!!! how are you alll?!!!! its been a while.....

an update on my savings managed to put away £300 at tthe begining of this month which is great as since then it has been down hill!!! and no it wasnt on unnecessary things........new tyres on car £!!!!, need to renew road tax £!!!! always the car!!!.... and i need this to get to work :(this month had to use train for a few days...and train tickets are not cheap £!!!!!........also been trying to save to go on hol i wanted to ideally buy tickets at the end of this month/ begining of march for an jun/july hol as tickets are cheaper the earlier u buy ......doesnt look like this is gonna happen!

i may have to re-think my saving target for this year.....but dont want to as in my mind i would think of it as having failed my first target!!! so resisting this for the mo.....waiting to see what march brings!!!!!

No just after i turned 21 i realised i better get a move on and save, but i had to save for my bros wedding.

So i saved since June ? last year, i came here around October when i saved £6000 which am tempted to leave this board for a while, i mean its not the same where your like i have this amount, then someone comes along saying they have a hell lot more than us lol, just makes me feel better when i say i have so much and not very much :p

I guess in away maybe to some people my savings came from my parents, as they don't charge us, but i know someone of my friends who dont charge either.

But one thing i tried to make an effort was buying my own food, my bro lived of my parents food till he moved out. My dad says eat their food till i get my savings back thing is i like different things from them:(

OK, this may come across as harsh but it is meant constructively.

If you are working and living with your parents, I think that you *should* offer to contribute, no matter how small the amount. It gives you a sense of pride, and acknowledges that your parents have 'kept' you up until then, so you are giving something back. It also prepares you for the day when you move out and have bills to pay.

If you don't like the food your parents buy, you know what to do.

p.s. why did you have to save for your brother's wedding? I am confused.

p.p.s. any word on your bank problem?

because his wedding was in st lucia

I see your point but surely it would only be fair if my parents back dated charging from when my brother lived here ?

Thats what am trying to get at, save to move out asap, my brother was allowed a girlfriends, and save not pay a penny. He didn't move out till 2 months before his wedding.

Yet i get told i cant go here and there, am not allowed to go meet a guy, then when i go so long without talking about a guy they call me lesbian.

Now after i told my parents i gambled a few times cos i was down I WANT OUT am nearly 22, they say i can now go meet the guy i like. I dont want to build my hopes up in case they change back.

    and no not heard
