I'm very excited as I set myself a challenge of reaching £21k by the end of the year and I'm right on track.

This thread is great for encouragement and ideas.

    Thanks everyone!

  • I knew it was coming, but I'm still disappointed. I hit the 50% target last month, and now I've just dropped below it again. It was an expensive month, not to mention one particularly extravagant weekend of eating out - lots.

So... I'm being very harsh on myself this December, and am determined that I should suffer a little to pay for my indulgences last month. No treats for this Dwarf.

Hey guys, everyones doing so well on here, i hope to be doing as well from now on. Iv got round to getting my bond ready for some serious saving next year! Currently i have £566.83 in there and hoping to add £450 from next payday(paid next friday but il be putting it in day before my next pay in January. Will be usual 2 weeks + holiday pay. Iv got a 1 year bond that matures in November next year which is exactly what i need. Im aiming high with an aim of £10k by the 31st of December 2010 which would be amazing and nothing short of a miracle if you knew me lol. So if i have £1k at the start of the year then il need £750 a month. Hopefully i can save £818 a month on average to get that £10k by November then instead of saving it in December il spend it on an xmas shopping weekend away(like i did this year only il deserve it and be able to afford it better next year. Itl be hard work, il be making every penny a prisoner, putting in as much overtime as i can at work but itl be worth it to see the "balance available : £10,000 " I was thinking i might start my own thread in this forum as a spending and saving diary, spending as little as i can while earning and saving as much as i can where anyone can join in with a simular target. 2010 is going to be my year i think :D

Rictus What bond have you got? Is it fixed rate? I hadn't looked at those as i thought they didn't allow additional deposits.

Iv got a 1 year fixed rate bond with barnsley bs. All it said was min first deposit of £100, and it says can only withdraw in "exceptional" circumstances. Theres not an option to withdraw online but it does say available balance is £100 under the total in there.
